Hello! Well, now, after a long and forced break we again resume production of our magazine. Business as usual. Cirkumfleks - latin circumflexus (bent around), in different languages, sign is used to select any sound or some object. We chose this name for our magazine, which focuses on different areas of creativity. In today's world of information we all have to face with huge amount of various authors (known and not known) in various areas of art. And we have taken this function on Cirkumflecus. Thanks to all photographers, artists, designers, musicians, and in general all those who sent us their work. They were so numerous, that issue swelled to cosmic size... so we decided on a peculiar step - we split the magazine into two. It turned out as one issue, but two parts. Almost like a novel. As always, we have prepared a collection of music that you can download for free. And for fans of good old punk rock produced a collection of music in this style. It should be noted that we are doing this magazine very selflessly and does not making money on it, so do not judge harshly. And do not forget that all rights to submitted works are those of the authors. we want to thank Alisa Levy for helpung with the translation of several texts. Her photographic work, you all will be able to see in this issue. Metamorphoses A young man had been visiting one and the same art gallery for over years. One of the main reasons was that in one of the halls of the gallery a remarkable exhibition of the canyon landscapes was displayed, which he immensely enjoyed. He would go there every day as the most devoted lover, and he himself was no less surprised by the lasting affection he was experiencing. One day he was looking at the pictures with deep admiration when he noticed that some picture was missing. Suddenly he felt uneasy, the sweat stood out on his forehead and he rushed to count the pictures. ‘Nine,’ he said in utter confusion.

He stepped back, and looked at each picture with extra attention. The funny thing about that was that he was sure that some picture was missing, but he did not find out exactly what picture was missing and he could not see the new one either, and the total number was still the same. ‘I must have worked too much lately,’ assumed the young man. ‘And now my mind and vision are making fun of me,’ he murmured to himself and left the gallery. Next days he would show up as he was supposed to. He would make his way to the hall and greet his pictures with immense care, as if he should meet his beloved. 7 months passed since he first counted the pictures in the gallery. But now when he looked at them he would already anticipate the coming changes. He knew that most part of the exhibition was missing, but he welcomed the changes, since they somehow filled him with happiness and joy from the inside. It was not really the kind of happiness he would share with everybody, but certainly would encourage people to experience. In the last two months his tension grew, and there was only 1 picture left before the exhibition would be a complete change. And he was sure enough that it would no longer be the canyon landscapes, and it would no longer be the pictures he used to know: it would be a different woman, not the one he used to know. The young man visited his wife in the hospital and then walked to the art gallery. His thoughtful look was flowing from picture to picture, and his heart was filled with great joy. Now he remembered the day he found out the first missing picture and confronted the thought that his life would change ever since. Apparently, at that time he did not realize yet that making a parent is one of the greatest metamorphoses on earth. (CIRKUMFLEKS) Magazine

I was born and raised, till the age of 12, in the USSR. Just before the falling of the Iron Curtain my parents repatriated to Israel, where I finished school, and was starting to build my life. Since 2003, I'm living in the US with my family, and trying to live my life with eyes wide open. statement: Light is drawing the contours and semitones, volumes and lines, the space around us. It creates an environment, an atmosphere in which we are living and existing every second; every minute is refracted in the reflections of light, and blurs within the limited spaces in the fog, in gradation of two foundations of the world - black and white. The presence of colors through which one can feel, sense the world around, gives us different impressions of what seems, or seemed familiar, commonplace in the bustle of everyday life. 1 / 2012

“Anima Vegetalis, Botanical Imaginarium of the Tibães Monastery” Monastery” THIS WORK This work was conceived during an artistic residence in Tibães, a Benedictine Monastery located in the North of Portugal (Braga) during two years. It was done with little pieces of forest (leaves, sticks, acorns, branches, fruits, some mushrroms, barks, etc.) found on the ground and digitalized with a normal and very cheap scanner into a dark room. It has no digital manipulation but some simple cleaning on the black background.

Neatful started his career in Germany in his early teenage years. After gaining experience with independent work he started doing creative jobs for an official graffiti company called "Graffitiverein" in Leipzig, Germany. In between he did several jobs for Amazon, different colleges and companies in Sachsen, Mecklemburg-Vorpommern, SachsenAnhalt and put the best pieces of his work on display in several German exhibitions and jams. After only a couple of years Neatful made his way overseas into exhibitions in Los Angeles (California), Pamplona (Spain) and Merrill(Wisconsin). Since 2008 Neatful has studied design at the Bauhaus College in Dessau, Germany. These new Bauhaus experiences have widened his horizon and he started using new methods to achieve a different level. Most of his latest work has a heavy vintage substance. Ads of the late 40s and 50s, vector characters and photographs are a main part of his collages and illustrations. Neats work is filled with stuff to discover, "There is nothing worthier then a picture you can look at more then ones". Its important to him that there is always something left to find, so that the viewer can enjoy the work as long as possible. 1 / 2012

Eni has always been interested in photography and more. She joined Flickr five years ago, and since then she hasn始t stopped taking photos and to see the world through an invisible frame. Over the years she has developed a strong inclination to portraiture and artistic portraiture describing human moods and behavior. Understanding people is one of her talents. She was based in Istanbul for more than 10 years and then moved to Denmark where she lived for 2 years. Having experienced the wonderful East-West magic she also had contact with the Scandinavian culture. She now specialises in alternative printing techniques and also in mixed media techniques. Type to enter textPea Sized is Pia Kayser and Karsten Kayser from Wiesbaden, Germany. We've been a couple since 1999, and started seriously making music together in 2008. Our music is atmospheric alternative/electronic, mostly downtempo with a somewhat dark and experimental touch. Before this, Karsten had been playing with a number of local bands for over a decade, mostly as bassist. In addition to conventional instruments such as guitars, synthesizers, and percussion, we tend to use (or abuse, if you will) things like melodicas, children’s toys, and various other things that produce some kind of sound. Electronic and acoustic sounds fuse in many different ways. The lyrics, written by Pia, revolve around personal impressions and emotions that are inspired by living in a postmodern world. Our influences range from Portishead, PJ Harvey, Peaches, Björk, Feist, Róisín Murphy, CocoRosie, Tori Amos, and Radiohead to Lhasa, Soul-Funk, Balkanbeats, Arabic Groove and Electronica.

Andrea Brandino was born in Messina in 1989. Since childhood he showed his passion for photography, always based on a lively curiosity for details that surround him. His idea of photography aim to a not-invasive approach to the objects and details that he "catchs" with the lens. His works find in the "right distance" between photographic subject and the photographer, their true essence: an unexplained balance that determines the ultimate result of his shots. He joined in different photo exhibitions and competitions, and he graduated in photography at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Messina.

Artist, Fran RodrĂŹguez Learte, "drfranken" was born in La CoruĂąa, Spain in 1979. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Salamanca in 1998. drfranken lives and works in Madrid, Spain. For many years he experimented with different techniques and mediums. Now he concentrates on digital art and his work as a computer programmer in engineering. Nastplas is a creative duo formed in 2006 by illustrator Fran R. Learte "drFranken" and creative director Natalie Mills "Na" together "Nastplas Team". His work combines an impressive range of digital elements and abstract patterns with which they develop elaborate pieces of art with a visual load.

Danielle Shenise has been an active artist for over twenty years. Originally she worked in mediums as diversified as fiber arts and charcoals, she has for the past fifteen years focused on photography. Her goal is to utilize the natural settings and lighting conditions to capture the desired image. She has captured many of her travels and continues to develop a portfolio of everyday life. Utilizing color, sepia tones, and black and white she seeks to illustrate the emotional context of the shot.
