WRITING at SAIC Master’s Degrees in: Writing Visual and Critical Studies saic.edu
Master of Fine Arts in Writing saic.edu/mfaw SAIC’s Master of Fine Arts in Writing (MFAW) understands that a writer’s practice may take them on and off the page, and to that end offers creative writers the distinct opportunity to study fiction, poetry, non-fiction, playwriting, and hybrid genres in an interdisciplinary studio art setting. This full-time, two-year degree track allows writers to take a number of writing workshops and seminar courses across genres, as well as electives in a number of other studio areas. Built into the MFA curriculum are Graduate Projects, which allows writing students to advise one-on-one with two faculty in their areas of interest each semester to foster further growth in ongoing projects.
Master of Arts in Visual and Critical Studies saic.edu/mavcs SAIC’s Master of Arts in Visual and Critical Studies (MAVCS) integrates studio and scholarly research for artists and writers who are interested in exploring the production, circulation, and impact of the visual world on culture. MAVCS students, often a collection of both writers and visual artists, navigate a curriculum of seminars, electives, and one-on-one advising sessions to investigate visual phenomena in our world, all while being intertwined with SAIC’s studio arts model.
