MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM
• Students are able to dig deeply in their areas of interest. Each course provides an immersive experience that teaches young makers both conceptual and technical skills, while allowing them the freedom to explore and innovate. • Our museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, is an integral part of students’ experiences. Be prepared to have your child teach you about their favorite pieces in our collection! • We don’t stay inside our classrooms all day, because we believe being active fuels imagination. Students are out exploring the city’s architecture, finding treasures at thrift shops, or finding inspiration at Millennium Park. • Our faculty are not only amazing mentors and teachers, but have robust artistic practices themselves. Safety is always our top priority — each class has two instructors and two classroom assistants, allowing for a 7 to 1 student-to-adult ratio. • Our courses are great ways to make new friends who share similar interests.

saic.edu/cw We take creativity and fun seriously! Your child will be exploring in a wide range of materials including drawing, painting, clay, fibers, performance, wearables, and animation, and will have ample opportunities to take advantage of Chicago in the summer—from visiting the Art Institute gardens to enjoying Millennium Park. Enroll for one of our one- and two-week sessions, or sign up for multiple weeks.
ACTIVE, CREATIVE, PLAYFUL WHAT MAKES OUR MULTIARTS CAMPS SPECIAL: • Each summer, we select a theme and structure projects and exploration around that idea. Our youngest creators are learning and researching concepts, bringing their points of view to life through the projects they make. And, be ready, they make A LOT of work!!! • Get ready for your child to take YOU on a tour of the Art Institute of Chicago. Campers visit our museum nearly every day to explore its treasures and find inspiration. • Chicago in the summer is a perfect place for kids. We take full advantage of the outdoor spaces adjacent to campus because keeping active and engaging with the world fuels imagination. • Our faculty are not only amazing mentors and teachers, but have robust artistic practices themselves. • Safety is always our top priority—each class has two instructors and two classroom assistants allowing for a 4 to 1 student-to-adult ratio.

We bring the processes — from sketches and paper mock-ups to 3D modeling and the Adobe Creative Software Suite — students come with their ideas and curiosity to imagine and invent new objects and products.
Characters, animals, objects, vehicles, and environments are brought to life using traditional and digital media and methods such as graphic markers, illustration pens, watercolor, ink, sculpting materials, digital drawing tablets, and digital editing software like Adobe Photoshop.
