Creativity, design and a sense of the collective are the vectors of the dynamics in play in Saint-Etienne. Dynamics that stem as much from the notion of a workshop where knowledge and experiences are exchanged as from a vision that dares to look to an ambitious future.

Sublimating the form, dazzling the spirit Part of Saint-Etienne’s DNA, design flourishes here in all its forms. A vector of economic vitality and dynamism, it irrigates the city and the surrounding area, leaving its mark everywhere, giving palpable form to the future. It affects objects as well space, blends intimately into daily life.
In Saint-Etienne, design has come out of the walls. Throughout the city’s 700 hectares of parks and green spaces, sculpture has taken up residence. These urban decorations give the city a renewed vision.

The Zenith
To the east of the city centre the 3 monumental gates of the Cité des Affaires business district, designed by Gautrand, open up Saint-Etienne to an authentic modernity.
Designed by Didier Guichard, this museum offers almost 4,000 m² of contemporary art exhibitions that are renewed 3 times a year. 19,000 works are presented in themed exhibitions; there is a space where the work of young local artists is mingled with that of artists and creators of national and international renown… a cultural melting pot.
The only concert hall of its size in the Rhône-Alpes region, the Zenith was designed by Sir Norman Foster, one of the main international proponents of hightech architecture.
Enriching the vision, surveying modernity
Le Corbusier de Firminy Site
When art and architecture come together, they draw their strength from modernity.
With a Maison de la Culture, a stadium, swimming pool, the Church of Saint-Pierre and the Living Unit, the Le Corbusier de Firminy Site constitutes the largest ensemble of buildings designed by one of the fathers of modern architecture, whose vision lives on today.

The Maison du Passementier Ribbons, badges, ornamental haberdashery, but also spinning wheels and Jacquard looms, on show at the haberdasher’s house in Saint-Jean-Bonnefonds, are a living reminder of a traditional craft industry. By keeping these machines in working order, the Maison du Passementier is keeping the memory of these skills alive.

Because creativity leads to effervescence, because culture is available to all, because being demanding brings people together, because passion enters everyone’s heart, there is no doubt about it, Saint-Etienne is really and truly a visionary city.

In Saint-Etienne, being a supporter of the local team, the «Verts» or «Greens» means more than just supporting a football club, it’s a whole mindset. Whatever the result, it’s sharing a set of values, a vision of sport that counts… and that makes a visit to the GeoffroyGuichard stadium an unforgettable experience.
