We have opportunities for aspiring sports students wishing to enter a full-time training programme. This will encompass developing practical skills, high work ethics and team work. Who is this Programme aimed at? Astrea Sixth Form St Neots Scholarship Opportunities are aimed at passionate sports students between the ages of 16 - 18 years old. We offer you the opportunity to gain academic qualifications alongside your continued development in your chosen field. You will also have access to sport specific industry recognised qualifications such as PT and FA Level one. What does a scholarship offer you? You will have access to professional coaching, qualified teachers and industry experts in order to fulfil your potential.

All academic subjects for the Scholarship Programme are delivered at the Astrea Sixth Form St Neots. This allows anyone wishing to study specific courses (such as A-Levels) the chance to do so without compromising on their high quality sport development opportunities.

Mix of A-Level Subjects & BTEC Course (2 Years) (Equivalent to 3 A-Levels). (Subject to integrated option blocks) Access to A-Levels Course – BTEC Level 2 Technical Diploma in Sport & Activity Leadership (1 Year APS Top Up). + GCSE Maths & English retakes if required
INDUSTRY GYM INSTRUCTOR AND PT QUALIFICATIONS
OPEN TO POST 16 BOYS AND GIRLS DELIVERED BY QUALIFICATIONS IN FITNESS AND SUPPORTED BY REAL FIT
YMCA Level 2 Gym Instructor This qualification will provide you with the skills and knowledge to plan and deliver safe exercise sessions within the gym environment. The Level 2 Gym Instructor course gains you official entry to the register of exercise professionals (REPs) and is considered the foundation to personal training. From the outset of the course you’ll start to learn exactly what it takes to become a gym instructor. The course covers a wide-range of theory and practical elements of the role, and is delivered in an engaging and interactive way. To introduce you to the course, here are some of things we cover:
YMCA Level 2 Gym Instructor Principles of exercise and fitness: Anatomy and physiology, including the cardio-respiratory, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. Resistance training concepts. Cardiovascular training concepts and exercise techniques. Planning fitness training programmes. Teaching and instructing exercise and fitness. Body weight and free weights exercise techniques. Resistance machine exercise techniques. Warming-up and cooling-down effectively. While there are no formal prerequisites for this qualification experience of using a gym and a passion for the industry will help you get off to a flying start and once qualified you are able to enrol straight onto the Personal Training course.
INDUSTRY GYM INSTRUCTOR AND PT QUALIFICATIONS

YMCA Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training Building upon your knowledge from the Level 2 Gym Instructing qualification you will learn a wide range of training principles and how to apply them effectively to individual clients. The aim of this qualification is to recognise the skills, knowledge and competence required for an individual to work unsupervised as a personal trainer. This includes being able to offer one-toone training, baseline assessment, nutritional advice and progressive programming which is specific to the individual needs of a client. Once you have completed your Level 3 Certificate in personal training you will be considered as having full Level 3 personal trainer status.

and cover
a variety of different training specialism's so you’ll have a wider range of knowledge and skills to offer your clients. Courses are delivered through 1 or 2day workshops and distance learning. CPD courses available: • • • • • • •

COACHING AND TEACHING OPEN TO POST 16 BOYS AND GIRLS
Gain valuable experience by accessing our Primary School out reach programme. Working with lead coaches in our Partner Primary Schools you will learn how to plan, deliver and assess PE lessons and after school clubs. All participating scholars will be DBS checked and those that show a real passion for working with Primary school children will have the option of doing a part or fully funded FA level 1 course. A great opportunity to work with lead coaches, school teachers and Primary school children.
HOW TO APPLY CREATING FUTURES
Once you have registered your interest you will be asked to complete an application form. The form must be completed in full including your predictive grades and chosen subjects. You must circle the box as indicated if you are interested in one of the scholarship opportunities. You will then be asked to attend a Sixth Form Interview with Teachers and Football Club Staff. Provided all goes well, you will receive your offer and be given the appropriate starting information. See you in September! NB: Gym Instructor, PT Qualification and Coaching and Teaching Scholarships can be selected alongside another Sports Specific Scholarship Programme.
