Good afternoon / evening everyone and welcome back to the Premier PlusComing Stadium, home Soonof St Neots Town FC, for today’s Pitching In Southern Football League Division One Central match. Today, we extend a very warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of two of the new teams in the division this season, FC ROMANIA / HERTFORD TOWN and we hope you enjoy your brief visit here to St Neots. It seems an absolute eternity since we were last here preparing for a competitive game, way back in November if my memory serves me correctly when we entertained Kings Langley in the FA Trophy and my, has the world changed since with the ongoing pandemic but hopefully we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now as we begin to get back to some sort of normality and the pleasure of live, non-league football once again. On behalf of myself and my fellow board members, we hope you have come through all this relatively unscathed and we look forward to welcoming you at forthcoming fixtures For ourselves, it has actually been a very busy time with improvements being made to the stadium and 3G Arena, ones which make anyone visiting the place, whether it be for football or a function, have a safer, more comfortable and enjoyable stay. Of course, there have been changes in the football sector of the business too with Barry Corr being promoted to First Team Coach at Cambridge United and the U’s and ourselves moving quickly to appoint his replacement in Peter Gill and also on the pitch with players leaving (we thank them for their time and efforts and wish them good luck wherever they may go) and of course new players joining us (welcome to the Club boys). Fingers crossed we will be able to offer you a brand of entertaining football for a full season this time around and we can’t wait to get underway… Come on You Saints
Firstly, I’d like to wish a warm welcome to everyone from both FC Romania and Hertford Town. I hope you enjoy your visit to St. Neots and wish you well for the season ahead. I’d like to take this chance to say thank you to everyone who has given me such a warm and kind welcome to the football club. As a club that champions community, I have felt that spirt already in my short time here. I’d like to thank the hardworking volunteers and board members for all of their efforts in pre-season. I hope we can produce a team that you can be proud of. I believe we have a young, hungry, and exciting squad. Hopefully a squad that will win games and entertain those coming to watch. The staff and I have been in contact with over 80 players during pre-season and run the rule over more than 50 potential signings. The effort that goes into building a squad, as well as meticulously planning a pre-season programme is months’ worth of conversations, meetings, and discussions. We wish those players whose journey with us has ended nothing but success in the upcoming season. For several different reasons Ben, Leon, Adrian and both Sam’s (Gomarsall and Goode) will be playing their football elsewhere this season. However, with the squad we have assembled we hope to build on last years playing style and create an energetic, dynamic, possession based attacking team. Lastly a message to the supporters. Thank you for your welcome. This team needs as much support as possible so please get behind them. With such a young team, your efforts and support can be the difference to push them over the line. I hope this team entertains you and grows to embody the values and identity the club holds. I look forward to finally meeting you all in person over the coming weeks. Here’s to an entertaining and successful season. Regards,
Welcome Back to the Premier Plus Stadium . We are opening our 2021/22 Campaign with two consecutive home fixtures against FC Romania and Hertford Town respectively. Even though the current COVID-19 situation has brought massive challenges and stopped most of our activities ;the hard work we have all been putting into the Club continued without any interruption. The Club has high ambitions and we are all confident that we are heading in the right direction. We are beginning the new season with continued support of Premier Plus Financial Services, Preferred Plumbing, GESS Ltd, Goldstraw Jewellery Services and St Neots Food Terrace .We are also welcoming support from our new Stand Sponsors SOS Leak Detection Stand and new 3G arena viewing area sponsors Annafield Estate agents. Even though there has not been not any official first team football played for over 9 months we had massive interest in our pitch and 3G Arena advertising from local businesses. We recently launched a banner promotion to support our Academy activities and in a very short time we had 18 Businesses offering their support. We are very fortunate to have the support of these local businesses. As well as supporting Clubs ambitions of playing at the highest level possible and to offer development pathway for talented local boys ,with their involvement ,the local businesses are supporting our local charity and community initiatives .
We all at the club understand that sponsorship has to be a two sided opportunity where the way it benefits Clubs aspirations ;it should have financial return to local businesses. We are constantly meeting and engaging with local businesses to achieve strategies for this. I want to thank to all businesses named above and detailed in our match programme for their massive support for our Club. After two curtailed seasons our first wish has to be for the world to overcome the negative effects of Covid 19 which will enable us to complete our first football season since 2019..We are starting the season positively aiming to compete for a top of the League finish. I wish us all a Covid 19 free and successful season on and off the pitch.

OPPONENTS SPOTLIGHT (14/August/2021) FC ROMANIA Year founded: 2006 Chairman: Alex Viad Club Website: www.fcromania.com NOT ONLY A NEW SEASON, BUT A REFORMATTED DIVISION OF THE SOUTHERN LEAGUE AND A FIRST EVER MEETING WITH A NEW CLUB A very special welcome to our visitors this evening for our long-awaited return to competitive football post COVID-19. We hope all of you have stayed safe and well and we look forward to some ‘normality’ after two lost seasons. Our visitors are not only new us, but they are new to the Southern League at Step Four. They are FC Romania who are based at Cheshunt FC where they groundshare. Their rise to this level has been meteoric. Formed just 15 years ago by a group of Romanian workers they played their football in the Sunday London Weekend League on the legendry Hackney Marshes where so many footballers and teams begin their careers. They progressed to Saturday football through the Middlesex County League, the Essex Senior League and more recently the Isthmian South-Central Division and today they continue their journey up the non-league football ladder. FC Romania will not find their new environment too strange for they are joined in the Southern League Division One Central by four other club shuffled across from the Isthmian South-Central Division – Harlow Town, Hertford Town, Waltham Abbey, and Ware. Their playing record over the past three seasons has been patchy. In 2018/19 - the last full season completed – they finished 16th in the final table, and in the two following aborted seasons they were19th and 16th respectively when a halt was called. However, they are not strangers to success because their record shows: 2011/12 2012/13 2015/16 2017/18

OPPONENTS SPOTLIGHT (17/August/2021) HERTFORD TOWN Year founded: 1901 Chairman: Colin Hay Club Website: www.hertfordtownfc.com A SECOND NEW VISITING SIDE IN JUST FOUR DAYS – WE WELCOME HERTFORD TOWN TRANSFERRED OVER FROM THE ISTHMIAN LEAGUE A special welcome to our visitors this evening for our second league match of this new season. We hope all of you have stayed safe and well and we look forward to some ‘normality’ after two lost seasons. Like our first visitors on Saturday Hertford Town are not only new league opposition for us, but they are new to the Southern League at Step Four. They home ground is presently undergoing an important makeover with the installation of a 3G pitch, so this original fixture planned for Hertford has been switched, as of course has the return fixture in November. Searching club records I found that our two clubs have met once competitively and that was in 1969/70 in the semi-final of the East Anglian Cup when our visitors recorded a 3-1 home victory before going on to lift that trophy.
Hertford’s recent playing record shows a level of inconsistency. When the 2020/21 season was curtailed by COVID our guests were in ninth position in the league table having won four and lost three of their completed matches. The previous season with only two thirds of the matches completed they were sixteenth and in 2018/19 (the last completed season) they finished eighteenth – just one place above the relegation zone. However, their record in cup competition is more impressive having reached the fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup in 1973/74 and the Second Round of the FA Trophy six seasons later. They also lifted the Hertfordshire Senior Cup twice in 1966/67 and 1989/90, and the East Anglian Cup twice 1n 1962/63 and 1969/70. Enjoy the match John Walker
Pre-Season Friendly Biggleswade Town
1
St Neots Town
4
St Neots produced their most impressive showing so far in their seventh pre-season run out, as they thrashed Step Three hosts Biggleswade Town on their own pitch with a stunning second half performance. The three decisive goals came in the final twenty minutes of a competitive encounter and Manager Pete Gill will have been delighted with the clinical finishing of his side. Particularly impressive were the attacking midfield pairing of Myles Cowling and Charley Barker who sliced through a fragile looking home defence almost at will, and Nehemiah Richard-Noel who scored twice to take his tally to four in six appearances. With both sides having Premier Plus Financial Advisers as their sponsors this was dubbed as the Premier Plus Cup Final (no trophy) but there was little doubt that the visitors earned the plaudits. After a bright start with St Neots dictating early pay Richard-Noel forced a good save from home keeper Jake Alley whilst for the home side Joe Neal tested Saints keeper Louis Chadwick. The early pressure paid off after 18 minutes when a solo run into the home defence ended with the lively Myles Cowling beating Alley with a low shot. Briefly the Waders rallied and seven minutes later Neal skipped around a defender and crossed for David Manu to level the scores. However, the most notable efforts in the remainder of the first half came from the visiting side with Richard-Noel beating the keeper but seeing his effort drift just wide, and Alley then making a brave save at the feet of Joe Rider. With Lee Watkins on for the limping Joe Sutton, St Neots continued to produce confident flowing football and for a brief period around the hour Biggleswade had their best spell with seriously testing the visiting defence. With twenty minutes left St Neots’ play seemed to move up a gear and they regained the lead as Harvey Steel mesmerised the home defence to set up Joe Rider for a well-taken goal. Once St Neots were ahead the remainder of the match was pretty much one-way towards the home goal. Within a minute of their second goal the home side were further ahead as Richard-Noel took advantage of slack defending and he joyfully completed the scoring after some excellent approach play by Charley Barker whose effort was blocked, but the St Neots striker was on hand to net. (John Walker)
Pre-Season Friendly St Neots Town
3
Chalfont St Peter
0
Six wins and a draw from their eight pre-season outings must rate as St Neots’ best preparation to a new season for some time. Their latest victims, Chalfont St Peter, did make the task slightly easier when they had a player sent off after 52 minutes as he collected a second yellow card after several warnings, but that should not detract from a thoroughly professional showing which showcased two fine goals from Florian Tsaguim. Joe Rider scored again to record his fourth goal in the last four of those matches and the overall performance was measured and good to watch for the spectators, putting the team in good shape for the start of the league season next Saturday. A special mention too, for goalkeeper Louis Chadwick, who made three excellent saves as Chalfont refused to give up. Visiting striker Alex Cathline was yellow-carded after just six minutes committing his second ugly foul in the very early stages. Both sides defended well in the first half hour and despite having much the greater share of play, St Neots lacked ideas in the final third. At the other end Aaron Smith and Charlie Johnson looked assured and confident with full backs Wynford Marfo and Ryan Thomas given space and time to supplement the home attack. The first real danger to the home goal came after 29 minutes when their former defender Tommy Boxer won the ball in the air from a corner to bring a fine full length save from Louis Chadwick. That sparked St Neots into a dominant spell before the break with Florian Tsaguim in the thick of the action. He was first harshly booked for an accidental collision with the visiting keeper but responded with his sides’ opening goal five minutes before the break after Charley Barker had slotted the ball into his path. He then collected a through pass from Neo Richard-Noel to bring an excellent save from visiting keeper Andrew McCorkell before wi8nning a corner from which Charlie Johnson shot into the side netting. The second half began with the visitors being reduced to ten men when Cathline tried the patience of the Referee once too many times and the official had no option but to send him off. The visitors then regrouped and after McCorkell had saved well from Wynford Marfo, a heavy downpour saw the game lose some impetus. However, with Barker and Callum Anderson orchestrating the home attack they were soon dominating as Barker had a shot deflected and Richard-Noel saw the visiting keeper save well. After 68 minutes a delightful cross field ball from Anderson found Joe Rider whose crisp finish doubled the lead and then several substitutions were made by both sides. Five minutes from time with Chalfont looking for a consolation goal Louis Chadwick produced a breath taking double save to deny Shamal Edwards from close range, and with two minutes left Florian Tsaguim rounded off an excellent personal and team performance with the third goal from an Aaron Smith cross. FC Romania was founded in August 2006 by a group of Romanian workers in England who wanted to play football in their spare time. Ion Vintila entered the team into the Sunday London Weekend League playing their games on Hackney Marshes. FC Romania won their Division in the first season and finished runner-up in the next. In 2008 FC Romania switched to Saturday football and joined the Essex Business House Football League, playing at Low Hall Recreational ground in Walthamstow, North East London. In 2010 the club moved to the Middlesex County Football League Division One, playing at Leyton Sports Centre and finished second in their first season gaining promotion. The following season in the Premier League saw FC Romania finish second but they were denied promotion to senior football due to the ground regulations. 2012 saw FC Romania begin their ground sharing relationship with Ryman League outfit Cheshunt FC in Hertfordshire. They played another season in the Middlesex County Football League and again finished in second position. Also in this season FC Romania won the Middlesex County Senior Open Cup, beating Bratham 3-1 in the final at Uxbridge FC. The club applied for promotion to the Essex Senior League and played their first season in the ESL in 2013-14 finishing 5th. The following year FC Romania slipped one place to 6th. In the 2012 -13 season the club entered the FA Vase for the first time but only reached the second round. 2014-15 the club finally entered the FA Cup and reached the 2nd round qualifying round just losing out to Sutton United 3-2, after beating Haverhill Rovers, Heybridge Swifts and AFC Sudbury on the way. The club has gained a lot of attention in its short life from various media outlets in England, abroad and of course in Romania. The club and the manager have appeared in sports newspapers and magazines including , BBC Sport, Gazzetta dello Sport, L’equipe, The Times, The Sun , FourFourTwo magazine to name a few and on television in the UK on BBC on Japanese TV with NHK and on Romanian TV stations Pro TV and Digi Sport. The club has developed into a focal point for the Romanian community but has also attracted many local and English fans as well. The club has ambitions to progress through the leagues and reach higher standards of football while developing the team further. The aim is to eventually have our own home and become a respected and established part of English football encompassing all the good things about England and Romania and being successful in everything we do. 2015 -2016 – Runners Up 2017 – 2018 – Promotion Bostik + Winner Cup
The club was established in 1901 as Port Vale Rovers but were soon renamed Hertford Football Club to gain recognition as the town's main club. Following a merger with Hertford United, the club was renamed Hertford Town. After absorbing two more clubs – Blue Cross and Horns – in 1908, the club joined the Eastern Division of the Hertfordshire Senior County League for the 1908–09 season, which saw them finish as runners-up. League reorganisation in 1909 saw Hertford placed in the Central Division. They finished bottom of the division in its first season, before they were moved back into the Eastern Division in 1910. The club was also playing in the East Herts League, which they won in 1912–13. The following season saw the club retain the East Herts League title and finish second in the Eastern Division of the Hertfordshire Senior County League. After switching to the Middlesex League for the 1920–21 season, the club joined Division One of the Spartan League in 1921. Following league reorganisation in 1928, Hertford were placed in Division One East, with an eleventh-place finish seeing them moved to Division One the following season when a Premier Division was created. In 1938–39 Hertford were Division One runners-up and promoted to the Premier Division. However, the following season was abandoned due to World War II and when the league restarted in 1945, Hertford were placed in the Central Division, finishing bottom of the table in the 1945–46 season.[7] Despite their poor performance, the club were placed in the Premier Division the following season, but went on to finish bottom of the table again. The club lost the use of its ground in 1947 and left the league for a season before returning to the Spartan League in 1948, when they were placed in Division One East. After winning the division in 1949–50, they were promoted back to the Premier Division in 1950 and were runners-up in 1955–56 and 1956–57. In 1959 Hertford transferred to the Delphian League and were runners-up in their first season. They went on to win back-to-back league titles in 1960–61 and 1961–62. The 1962–63 season was abandoned due to bad weather, but Hertford won both the League Cup and the Eastern Section of the emergency competition, going on to lose the title decider to Western Section Champions Edmonton 5–2 on aggregate. They also won the East Anglian Cup by beating Boston United 1–0 in the final, a match played at home in front of a 3,000 crowd. When the Delphian League was disbanded at the end of the season, Hertford joined the new Division Two of the Athenian League alongside most of the other former Delphian League clubs. A fourth-place finish in 1963–64 was enough to earn promotion to Division One at the first attempt and the club went on to win the league's Memorial Shield in 1967–68. Hertford switched to the Eastern Counties League in 1972. They won the League Cup and finished third in the league in their first season, but left to join the newly-formed Division Two of the Isthmian League. The division was renamed Division One in 1977, and the club were relegated to Division Two North after finishing bottom of the table in 1984–85. League restructuring in 1991 saw the club placed in Division Three. They were promoted to Division Two after finishing runners-up in 1998–99, but were relegated the following season. Further league restructuring saw Hertford placed in Division One North in 2002, but they finished bottom of the table in the division's inaugural season and were relegated to Division Two. After the division was disbanded in 2006, they joined the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League. The club were Premier Division runners-up in 2016–17 and were promoted to Division One North of the Isthmian League after London Colney turned down promotion. For 2018-19 Hertford moved sidewards to the newly-formed South Central Division but the season was a difficult one, with 3 managers at the helm and close shave with relegation. Ex-pro Ben Herd and a new committee took over in the summer of 2019 and have fashioned a new-look side and club with a greater emphasis on bringing through young players via the manager’s successful football academy. Both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons were curtailed due to the Covid pandemic the latter of which saw Hertford’s best start to the season in recent years. The club were then moved to the Southern League (Division 1 Central) for the first time in their history prior to the commencement of the 2021/22 season.
