Gold Standard Tests A gold standard test is the diagnostic test or benchmark that is the best available under reasonable conditions.
A gold standard test is a best available diagnostic test for determining whether a patient does or does not have a disease or condition. www.add15years.com www.add15years.in
Why do we need to do Gold Standard Tests? There are some “Gold Standard Blood Tests” everyone should do every year after age 18 till the rest of our life absolutely. Parents take care of us till the age of 18. Today, most of us stay in good health till we get to age 50 and age 60 and we will still stay in good health even up to our eighties if we fine tune our health starting at age 18. www.add15years.com www.add15years.in
Important blood tests 1. Complete blood count A routine complete blood count (CBC) test checks for levels of 10 different components of every major cell in your blood: white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Important components measured by this test include red blood cell count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit www.add15years.com www.add15years.in
.
2. Basic metabolic tests A basic metabolic panel (BMP) checks for levels of certain compounds in the blood, such as:
• Calcium • Glucose • Sodium • Potassium • Carbon dioxide • Chloride • Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) www.add15years.com www.add15years.in
3.Lipid tests This test checks levels of two types of cholesterol: • High-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good” cholesterol • Low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or “bad” cholesterol www.add15years.com www.add15years.in
HDL is “good” because it removes harmful substances from your blood and helps the liver break them down into waste. LDL is “bad” because it can cause plaque to develop in your arteries, increasing your risk of heart disease. www.add15years.com www.add15years.in
4.Thyroid tests A thyroid panel, or thyroid function test, checks how well your thyroid is producing and reacting to certain hormones, such as: Triiodothyronine (T3). Along with T4, this regulates your heart rate and body temperature. T3 resin uptake (RU). This measures how well a hormone called thyroxinbinding globulin is binding. www.add15years.com www.add15years.in
Thyroxine (T4). Along with T3, this regulates your metabolism and how you grow. Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). This helps regulate the levels of hormones your thyroid releases. Your thyroid, a tiny gland in your neck, helps regulate bodily functions like your mood, energy level, and overall metabolism.

5. Vitamin D (we do not spend much time in the sun and hence lack Vitamin D in our bodies) 6. Vitamin B12 (communities especially in India are vegetarian and hence low in Vitamin B12) 7. HbA1c – It is a gold standard test for diabetes today, independent of daily fluctuation of glucose in our blood. There is a dramatic rise of diabetes all over the world and is happening in younger population too. www.add15years.com www.add15years.in
Although not blood test but these tests are gold standards for our health: Body Mass Index (BMI) Blood Pressure Urine Dipstick test, which is not a blood test, but easy to do at home, should also be done yearly.
