The Great Olympic Feast
It was almost time for The Great Olympic Feast in Sochi and everyone was getting ready.
Katya Galstyan, Denis Ten, and Ayumu Hurano were the first to arrive in the room where the feast would be held.
But there was no food!
They were very confused!
A cook told them the feast would be cancelled because there was not enough food.
"Oh no! Everyone was looking forward to the feast," Katya cried.
"In Kazakhstan, we never run out of grains and potatoes," Denis mumbled.
"Denis, you're a genius! It's the perfect plan," Ayumu suddenly shouted.
Katya and Denis were very confused, but Ayumu quickly informed them of his idea.
They would travel together to their home countries and collect food for the feast!
"We can travel to Kazakhstan first because it is very close to Sochi!" said Denis excitedly.

Katya and Ayumu quickly agreed and together they flew to Kazakhstan.
When they arrived, a song was playing.
"This is our national anthem, Menin Qazaqstanim. It means My Kazakhstan," Denis said. "Now hurry! We need to get to the marketplace."
Marketplace
As they continued walking, they spotted a very big bird.
Katya asked," What kind of bird is that? It's so big!"
"That bird is a golden eagle. It is also the national symbol of Kazakhstan," Denis replied.

They continued walking and soon arrived at the marketplace.
"We are at the biggest marketplace in Kazakhstan. It's in our capital, Astana," Denis informed the rest of the group.

"I thought the capital of Kazakhstan was Almaty," said Ayumu. Welco me to Almaty
Denis replied,"It used to be, but it was moved to Astana in 1997. Now quickly grab some grain and vegetables for the feast!"
They placed all the food in bags and were quickly on their way to Armenia.

After exiting the plane, they once again heard a song.
"Is this Armenia's national anthem?" Denis asked Katya.
Armenia
"Yes, it is called Mer Hayrenik, which means Our Fatherland," replied Katya.
"Cool! What is your national symbol?" said Ayumu as they walked toward the stores.
"We actually have three. They are Mount Ararat, an eagle, and a lion," Katya responded.
As they were grabbing many kinds of fruits, Denis overheard some other shoppers discussing something in a different language.
Denis asked Katya what they were discussing and she told him,"They were talking about the history of Armenia. Did you know that Armenia declared independence from Soviet Union on September 21, 1991? Also, our original Constitution was adopted in 1915, but was last changed in 2005."

"That's super cool!" exclaimed Denis as they paid for the fruit and headed back to the plane.
The flight to Ayumu's home country, Japan, was long so the three athletes chatted about their countries. Kazakhstan Kazakhstan Kazakhstan Armenia Armenia Armenia

"Did you know that the lyrics to Japan's national anthem dates back to the 10th century? Our anthem, Kimigayo, is the oldest in the world," Ayumu informed them.
"Wow! What does your flag look like?" Katya asked him.
"I know! It is white with a red dot in the middle," said Denis.
"You're right! The red dot represents the sun without rays. Japan is also known as the land of the rising sun," said Ayumu.
The plane soon landed and the trio quickly rushed to the grocery store.
