TOPIC A - DRAWING
EX ONE
STRAIGHT LINES AND FORM
In learning how to create architectural drawings, I first had to learn the basics of drawing lines. I familiarized myself with drawing using Rotring ink pens, creating lines and forms with different line weights.
EX ONE
CIRCLES CURVES AND RHYTHM
Drawing curves is one of the hardest tasks to do manually, much preparation and planning is required to do them. This was a good exercise in learning how to draw cycloids.
EX ONE
LAYOUT
We were tasked to create a layout using what we learnt from the previous exercises. The inspiration for my design came from a piece of paper. I explored the two and three-dimensional qualities of paper, using various line weights to represent the three-dimensional form.
EX TWO, THREE, FOUR PLAN SECTION ELEVATION
THIAN HOCK KENG TEMPLE vs CHEE TONG TEMPLE The best architectural representations of a building are its plan, section and elevation. Here, we were tasked to analyze one traditional and one modern building, by comparing their spatial and formal qualities.

EX FIVE
PERSPECTIVE & AXONOMETRIC
I enjoyed drawing the perspective of Thian Hock Keng Temple. In this drawing, I focused on representing the details and ornamentation of the columns, as it could not be seen as clearly from the plans, section and elevation.
EX FIVE
PERSPECTIVE & AXONOMETRIC
I drew the axonometric of Chee Tong Temple to show the hexagonal shape of the building as it was unique to this temple.
TOPIC B GEOMETRY & COMPOSITION
EX G & C SPATIAL COMPOSITION
I was drawn to the Tree of Life window design by Frank Lloyd Wright.I was intrigued by how Wright took inspiration from nature, taking the form of a tree and abstracting it into simple geometric shapes to create his design. I analyzed the geometric principles governing his design, and used these principles to compose my own design of a 20 by 20 cm space.

PROCESS MODEL
Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs, my model is an organic form made only out of geometric shapes. I wanted the form of the structure to give an impression that it is growing, almost as if the structure is alive.
