Student Achievement and Personal Development At Salesian, our aim is to prepare our graduates to be successful at top-tier colleges and universities, and to be socially-responsible young adults. Salesian emphasizes and balances academic achievement, co-curricular involvement and personal development. Students are presented with numerous opportunities to explore and hone their academic skills in addition to their personal interests and talents through: • AP and Honors Courses • An extensive catalog of elective courses • Opportunities for travel and exchange program participation • Career oriented coursework Historically, 99+% of Salesian graduates attend college.
The Path to College All students meet with their academic guidance counselor during the first quarter of their freshman year. Beginning in the sophomore year, a college counselor meets with each student to ensure college readiness and that the student is on the right track towards academic success and college acceptance. It is vital that students capably navigate the process of researching and applying to college given the increasing competition at the more elite institutions. The guidance counselors at Salesian are specialists in helping students on their academic journey. College counselors are on hand throughout the entire college application process, from selection to submission and enrollment. They also are available to coach students on college essays and applications. For more information, please visit our website at www.salesian.com/college-guidance. 8 I SALESIAN College Preparatory

Dedicated to
At Salesian College Preparatory, we are a community with a mission to bring love, compassion, justice and truth to one another and to our world. We accept that our Salesian education calls us to become good, honest and upright citizens. We are called to do this together as a school community.

All students complete four service requirements each year, including: • Participation in a campus-wide service day • Engagement in service donation projects (including our Thanksgiving food drive and Project Santa) • Completion of a unique, self-selected community service project on or off campus • Participation in a class service learning activity, such as volunteering at St. Anthony’s Dining Room in San Francisco
Faith Families
Faith Families are comprised of students from each grade and a faculty/staff member. Faith Families function to assist the Salesian community to bridge the “generational divide” between the freshmen through senior classes and build a supportive and faith-filled group of young people. Faith Family groups are one of the key vehicles to encourage students to give service to a variety of projects in the local neighborhood. Faith Families also organize and participate together in our Service Day every year. Recent event locations included the Bay Area Rescue Mission, Pinole Valley Watershed and Animal Refugee Response.
Campus Ministry
Our student-directed Campus Ministry Team coordinates and leads class retreats, school-wide liturgies, an annual Don Bosco Day Mass and celebration, service learning activities, and community fundraisers.
Student Leadership
One of Salesian’s most unique and popular student groups is Student Leadership and Ministry (SLAM). This group is a collection of student elected representatives, Faith Family leaders and students from our Campus Ministry Team. SLAM members participate in a class which focuses on cultivating leadership skills. SLAM helps sustain Salesian school spirit, fosters a sense of community and helps to build the Salesian family atmosphere. Together, members organize and direct spirited campus activities and major service projects.

Annual Fund Pledge
Tuition revenue funds Salesian’s academic programs and operations. There is a gap between the funds received from tuition revenue and the actual cost of educating a Salesian student. That gap is approximately $3000 per student. Therefore, we respectfully ask each Salesian family to donate to our Annual Giving Campaign every year. It is our hope that each student’s family contributes $500 or more; we are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and this gift may be tax-deductible. We are committed to delivering an excellent college preparatory education by retaining high-quality faculty, investing in new technology and offering a robust selection of courses. Your gift ensures that students can continue to benefit from smaller class sizes, personalized attention and many co-curricular activities including athletics, drama and student clubs. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Scholarships and Tuition Grants
Salesian offers a combination of academic and merit-based scholarships to incoming freshmen, as well as tuition grants to students based on demonstrated financial need. Students may apply for up to two scholarships and may receive a combination of one scholarship and tuition grant upon acceptance.
Academic Scholarships
Academic Scholarships are awarded to students entering the ninth grade. Qualification for these scholarships is based on High School Placement Test (HSPT) scores, academic records, recommendations and interviews. The Don Bosco Scholarship is our most prestigious scholarship; it is awarded to no more than ten outstanding 8th grade applicants each year. This scholarship is awarded to recipients from participating 8th grade classes. This scholarship funds half the cost of tuition for all four years, provided that the student maintains a 3.5 GPA or higher. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 4.0 in the 7th and 8th grades and an HSPT score in the top 25% of the incoming class. Salesian’s Honors at Entrance Scholarships are designated for students who have demonstrated academic excellence in 8th grade, and plan to enroll in honors coursework in the 9th grade. Students with an 8th grade GPA of 3.75 or higher, and an HSPT score ranking in the top 25% of the incoming class are eligible for an Honors at Entrance Scholarship. Applications are NOT required for this scholarship.
Other Merit Based Scholarships
Awarded to exceptionally gifted students entering the 9th grade who have demonstrated commitment and excellence in the following three categories: Visual and Performing Arts, Science, Technology, and Math, Service and Leadership.
Tuition Grants
Offered to all students based on demonstrated financial need and availability of funding. It is our goal to give all qualified students an opportunity to attend Salesian College Preparatory, regardless of financial resources. Application forms for Tuition Grants will be available on December 1, 2018. Completed forms are due for incoming freshmen no later than February 14, 2019.
