Greetings members, June was a great month here at Salina Country Club. The Summer Kick Off was well attended and fun for everyone. The Salina Charities event was fantastic! It’s always exciting to see everyone coming out to the Club to raise money for all of those worthy local charities. We also held our first pickleball event this month. It was very popular and well attended enough so that we will plan to run many more in the coming months. If you didn’t have the opportunity to come out and see what this great new sport is all about, you will have multiple opportunities in the upcoming months. July is promising to be a hot month as well. We are all very excited for our Independence Day Celebrations, with the fireworks along with the children’s games, pig roast and band on July 3rd as well as the Junior Tennis Tournament and Pool Party on July 4th. In addition, this is the inaugural year for the new golf event “The Stampede”. I know that Rob is working very hard to make this a first class event for all of you and your guests. We are currently taking reservations, and hope that you will be able to attend. I’m also very pleased to inform you of a new program here at the Club that I think will be very popular. We are starting a Member Referral program that incentivizes you to bring out your friends. You will be seeing materials explaining the program in detail, but if you still have questions, please reach out to Melissa and she will be happy to help. You are our greatest resource when it comes to talking about Salina Country Club, and we’re very happy to reward you for your efforts to grow the Club! As you have probably seen, the railing on the patio is complete on the eastern side of the Club. That area will be open for member dining at this time. Work continues on the northern section, and we hope to have that completed shortly. Once again, thank you all for being members of Salina Country Club! It’s a very exciting time for our Club and I’m very grateful that you’ve chosen to join us! See you at the Club, Brad McMillan 4

Hello Salina Country Club, Thank you for a great month of June! Though we battled the weather quite a bit, we still had a great turn out at Summer Kick off, the Charities Golf Tournament, as well as all of our member dining activities! July is a very exciting month for us. We have some great events during the month and we have started planning our fall event schedule as well. July 3rd is our Patriotic Party! We have laid somethings out differently this year with some activities such as the inflatable obstacle course, and a dunk tank down by the tennis courts. A special shout out to the Geneseo Fire Department for letting us borrow their giant smoker! Chef Eric will be smoking a full pig to give you some of the best pork in town. End the evening with the Astronauts at 7pm and end the night with 10 pm fireworks. July 4th the party is at the pool. MORE BBQ! Drinks, Cabanas, the real deal. We are fully geared up with pool games and beverages to keep you “chillin’” in your chairs. July 9th: We have a “Taste of SCC Grill” in the Grill Room. We will have a tapas menu available with some of the new flavors and concepts of what we are trying to elevate in the Grill Room. July 16th: We will be rolling out the new Grill Room menu with an elevated concept and some additional service aspects with your meal. A big first half of the month, but we are excited to be in the peak of summer and enjoying what it has to offer. Also, I wanted to ensure everyone is aware that the Snack Bar has some indoor seating. With the temperatures rising, we want to ensure you have comfortable place to relax outside of the heat waves of summer. Thank you again for all you do and we look forward to the rest of summer. Best regards, Chris Nickell

Hello Golfers, July is packed with fun golf activities for all ages. The month begins with our annual Flag Day celebrations. On Wednesday July 3rd will be the “Firecracker” tournament (a Par 3 Challenge) beginning at 4:00 p.m., and on Thursday the 4th will be our annual “Flag Tournament.” Entry in either or both of these events enters you in a drawing for chance to win a U.S.A. Titleist Carry Bag! Not only will the SCC Leagues run full steam ahead through the month of July but we will also be holding a variety of other fun golf events for everyone. The well-known “Beat the Pros” tournament will be held on the 11th this month. And new to the calendar this year is the 1st Annual Stampede. The Stampede is a 2 day, 2-person Scramble tournament, which includes 4 meals, hole contests and many more fun activities. It is $150 per person in the Titleist/FootJoy Mobile Pro Shop credit. For registration or more information please call the Pro Shop. For the kids, the SCC Summer Junior Golf program continues on Wednesday mornings in July, as well as the SCC Junior Sports on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. For beginners, we have free clinics for ladies that happen every Tuesday and some Thursday evenings at 5:30pm through the month of July. Stop by the Pro Shop to get a schedule for all the Ladies Clinic dates. No need to sign up ahead of time, just show up and enjoy 30 minutes of relaxed, fun golf instruction. Lastly, the Men’s and Women’s Club Championship Qualifying rounds are in full swing. Both Men and Women will have until July 31st to complete their four Qualifying Rounds. If you do not know how many rounds you have completed please do not hesitate to ask the Pro Shop and they will be able to help you. These 4 rounds will be combined together to both flight and seed you within your flight. Both Quarterfinals and Semifinals will be placed on Saturday August 17th for Men and Women and the Finals will be held on Sunday August 18th. Just a reminder all Flights are Match Play. Men’s Flights are Gross Match Play and the Women have a Net Flight. Please call the Pro Shop for registration or more information on any of these events. We hope to see you on the Golf Course! Hello members, Well, a new month has arrived, and we will see what the weather brings in the next couple weeks. So far, this year is one for the books! This time last year, we had many days rising over 100 degrees followed by long stretches of multiple days in the 90s and the course showed it. This year the course loves the weather it has been receiving. All the moisture and mild temperatures, have been both amazing and difficult. The fairways love everything they get; mowing maintenance and storm clean up, not so great. The crew has spent many long days on the mowers playing catch up. Now that we are caught back up we can finally start our list of summer projects. First and foremost, we will be sodding some of the bare areas in the approaches and the fairways. This is why there are pink lines all over the course. The next item I would like to check off the list is removing the bulk-head on the fairway side of #9, and trim the grass down to the water to give it more of a natural look. That section is the worst, and is not holding anything back! We also plan to continue to trim trees with low lying limbs, to ensure there is no interference with your swing from the fair way. This July we have the rough a little taller than previous years. This is to help with what is normally the hottest month of the year. By the end of this month, we will start to kill off #1 and #2 fairways in preparation for our last two fairway conversions, at least for the time being. The process will be same as before. The first step is to kill the Bermuda when it is actively growing. Then, in February we will start removing the dead material. After that, we will level the ground to allow the sod a smooth surface. When this process is taking place, the fairway on #1 will be split in half, so that hole will only be closed for one week. The entire project is planned to take 3 weeks depending on the weather. We are excited for this project so all the fairways will be mostly zoysia. Thank you for your support throughout our projects in making this course “up to par. See you on the course, Chris Rice

Hello friends and families!!! July is here and it’s looking to be a month filled with great weather and exciting activities with food and beverage to match. First out the gate we will be hosting the 3rd and 4th of July celebrations. On the 3rd there will be a variety of grilled items that everyone love; specialty kabobs and juicy burgers. Along with that we will have fresh flavorful salads with bright dressings and of course something sweet. Oh, did I mention we will be smoking and roasting a WHOLE PIG?! The next day, after the big party, we will be pool side for an all-American pool party complete with a full grill and cold drinks! On the 9th we will have our 3rd tasting of the year, this one is specifically for elegant Grill Room dining. This evening members will have an opportunity to get a sneak peek of our new creations for the formal dining space. You will also be sipping and swirling on some of our offerings from the reworked wine list. The following week we will launch the new menu that will boast bold flavors that will highlight our steak and seafood menu.

Lastly, mark your calendars for the 25th. This will be the next instalment of our Passport series. Our kitchen staff and I have been exploring the pantry of the beautiful South American country, Argentina. It is going to be a wonderful combination of a variety of great foods. Make your reservations now; you won’t want to miss this. I think something is boiling on the stove, I better get going and I hope to see you all at the 2019 July events! Chef E
