SKIS
SKI TECHNOLOGY GRIP TECHNOLOGIES A Grip technology provides grip in the kick zone without the need for kick wax. We have three different types:
SKINTEC
Our high-performance waxless technology, with 100% Mohair skin grip zones, now featured across the range.
POSIGRIP 3D
Our versatile grip technology used on some of our all-round skis.
G2 SYNCRO
A grip technology, ideal for newcomers to the classic track.
LAMINATES Laminates contribute towards the rebound and power transmission of a ski. In our skis we use two different sorts:
CARBON FIBREGLASS LAMINATE
BASES All our skis have high-quality bases. These are fast on every snow, can stand up to everything and are easy to maintain: BLACK BASE:
BI 5000 SA (Sintered World Cup Base) inclusive 6% special additive ADVANTAGES Increased gliding, improved wax absorption, better grind ability, Atomic exclusivity

CARBON RACE MONOCOQUE
CORES At the core of every ski are the materials that determine how it behaves. We have two different core materials we use in our range:
NOMEX
An ultra-lightweight material originally used in aerospace. It’s structured like a honeycomb for strength, resilience and liveliness. We also use it in combination with Densolite. NOMEX CORES: Featherlight, Featherlight SDS, Lite, Lite SDS
This is the special ski construction that gives our top Classic and Skate Race skis that extra bit of power. In our Redster Carbon Classic, the carbon chassis runs the length of the ski (except the tip) making it very light and dynamic for extreme acceleration. In the Redster Carbon S9 the carbon chassis runs the whole length of the ski, making the ski lighter and stronger, offering more direct power transmission for fast, dynamic gliding.
SIDEWALLS Putting a sidewall on a cross-country ski helps with steering and power transmission. We have two different sidewalls that feature on our high-performance Redster skis:
STEP DOWN SIDEWALL
With Densolite sidewall or lightwood sidewall for Redster WC Classics.
DENSOLITE
Light, stable and tough. Densolite is produced in Atomic’s own facilities and comes in three variations: Densolite, High Densolite and Ultra High Densolite. They’re all equally tough, but the High and Ultra High versions are lighter and more dynamic.
LIGHTWEIGHT WOOD SIDEWALL For Redster WC Skates.
DENSOLITE CORES: Speedcell, Helium Densolite, Ultra High Densolite, Ultra High Densolite SDS, High Densolite, Densolite

CLASSIC SKI SKIS SELECTION
HOW DO WE ENSURE THE PERFORMANCE? 1. OPTIMAL PRESS ADJUSTMENT FOR THE GIVEN SNOW CONDITION
2.STANDARDIZED KICK WAX THICKNESS
Each ski is produced with a reference curve to ensure it performs the best in the given snow condition: hard wax, universal and klister.
*height remaining under the balance point when the load is applied at -14cm.
There is an optimal kick wax thickness* for each condition. Each ski is measured. depending on the snow condition (blue/yellow/ red), we will recommend the best ski for the right bodyweight.

SKI PREPERATION CLEANING OF THE BASE AND REMOVING OF WAX USE SPECIFIC WAX REMOVING SOLVENT RECOMMENDED BY NORDIC WAX SUPPLIERS.
WAXING - WAX ACCORDING TO WAX SUPPLIERS RECOMMENDATIONS. - THE FISHSCALES HAVE TO BE CLEANED STEADILY AND THE GLIDE ZONES HAVE TO BE WAXED WITH THE GLIDE WAX.
WAXABLE SKIS – CLASSIC STYLE FIRST, THE KICK ZONE HAS TO BE DETERMINED ACCORDING TO THE SKIER’S WEIGHT. BE CAREFUL, NEVER WAX THE GRIP ZONE WITH A GLIDE WAX ! TO IMPROVE THE BOND BETWEEN GRIP WAX AND THE BASE, YOU CAN CAREFULLY SAND DOWN THE GRIP ZONE AREA WITH SANDPAPER (150-200 GRIT) BEFORE THE FIRST WAXING. BE CAREFUL: NEVER SAND DOWN COMBI SKIS ! ONLY WAX-ABLE SKIS ARE CONCERNED.
SKATING SKIS WAX WITH A GLIDE WAX THE WHOLE BASE, FROM TIP TO TAIL.
COMBI SKIS DETERMINATION OF GRIP ZONE IS THE SAME AS FOR WAX-ABLE SKIS – CLASSIC STYLE, BUT THE GRIP ZONE HAS NOT TO BE SANDED.
STORING THE SKIS CAN BE STORED READY-WAXED (UNSCRAPED) FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME (E.G. BETWEEN SKI SEASONS).
TRANSPORTATION IT IS RECOMMENDED TO TRANSPORT SKIS WITH SKI CLIPS TO PROTECT THE BASE AT THE CONTACT POINTS.
THERMO BOX FOR BETTER WAX ABSORPTION OF RACE SKIS, THE USE OF A WAX BOX (THERMO BOX) IS RECOMMENDED, ESPECIALLY AFTER GRINDING OR THE USE OF WAX REMOVER. INSTRUCTIONS • USE SOFT WAX FOR BETTER ABSORPTION. HARD WAX NEEDS HIGHER TEMPERATURE TO MELT =RISK OF DELAMINATION • DO NOT HEAT OVER 60°. RISK OF DELAMINATION OVER 60°. • MINIMUM IS 3 HOURS. IT IS BETTER IS TO LEAVE THE SKIS 4-6 HOURS

1. CLEAN THE SKIN WITH WAX REMOVER AND BRUSH IT WITH A NYLON BRUSH
2. WARM UP THE WAX (CONDITIONS OF THE DAY) ON THE IRON AND RUB IT ON THE SKIN
3. IRONING THE WAX INTO THE SKIN AND LET IT COOL DOWN
4. BRUSH THE SKIN WITH A NYLON BRUSH
SKINTEC INFORMATION AS WE ARE OFFERING SKINTEC SKIS ON THE HIGHEST PERFORMANCE LEVEL TODAY, IT COULD HAPPEN THAT PEOPLE WILL PUT THOSE SKIS INTO THE HOT BOX AS WELL. WHILE DOING THIS, IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMOVE THE SKIN FROM THE SKI BEFORE THE HEATING PROCESS CAUSE THE SKIN WILL SHRINK UNDER HIGH TEMPERATURE. IT IS VERY EASY TO REMOVE THE SKIN FROM THE SKI, JUST TAKE A THIN TOOL AND LIFT THE SKIN A BIT AND THAN TAKE IT WITH YOUR FINGERS AND REMOVE IT. AFTER THE HEATING JUST PLACE THE SKIN ON ITS ORIGINAL LOCATION.

SKI WEIGHT RECOMMENDATION SKIS
SKIS
WEIGHT RECOMMENDATION NORDIC SKIS On every Worldcup ski we make there is a sticker that shows the important technical information about that ski. This includes its ideal weight range, based on the ski’s specific length and flex. There are two different stickers, one for Classic and one for Skate:
CLASSIC
SKATE
This sticker includes a color coding for different conditions: cold (blue ■), universal (yellow ■) or warm (red ■). The sticker shown below is for a cold ski which is recommended for skiers between 72 – 94 kg, perfectly suitable for 80 – 90 kg. In addition, there’s a special sticker for Skintec (colour coding grey ■).
The sticker shown below is for a ski which is recommended for skiers between 65 – 79 kg, or 143 – 173 lbs.

POLES
POLES HOW TO CUT AND GLUE POLES 1) Take off the grip by soaking it in boiling water and then, simply removing it by hand. 2) Put some tape exactly over the cutting zone. 3) Cut the shaft exactly where you need by using a saw, and cutting directly on the tape. this will enable the delamination of the carbon fiber. POLES + ACCESSORIES
4) Remove the tape and use sand paper to clean remaining dust of carbon. 5) Warm up some thermo glue by using a heatgun. and apply warm glue directly on the top of the shaft. 6) warm up again thermo glue on the shaft with the heat-gun. place directly the grip on the shaft, taking care that it’s well positioned compared to the basket.

BOOT MAINTENANCE
FIT PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS IF THE BOOT IS TOO NARROW - Try the next larger size. If this bigger size is too long, use the first size tried and replace the insole in the boot (4.5 mm) with a thinner one (3 mm). - If the boot is too tight at a given point of the foot (at the toes, for example), it is possible to solve the problem by grinding and thinning the insole in the problem area in order to increase volume inside the boot. CHAFED OR BLISTERED HEEL - Verify that the boot is the correct size. - Make sure the customer is wearing an appropriate sock and the sock is not wrinkled inside the boot. - For Racing boots, adjust the soft wrap heel strap for the proper heel fit. - Recommend the use of a better sock. - Add or subtract volume in the boot to keep the foot from moving around. BLUE TOE NAILS - Make sure that the boot is not too short. - Replace the binding Flexor with a softer one.
Proper care will increase the life of your boots. Please suggest this to your customer. 1. Remove the insole when drying out boots. Do not lay equipment on top of radiators or other heat sources and do not put in a microwave oven. 2. Brush the boots with a soft brush or wipe them down with a soft cloth. 3. Clean boots using soapy water (no detergents or chemical products). 4. If necessary, apply weatherproofing treatments concentrating on flex zones and seams: - for leather models, use a product with a fluoride resin or silicone base; - for fabric/leather models, a waterproofing spray with a fluoride resin or silicone base. For rentals, check the boots regularly: check the length and condition of the laces, insole, wear of heel pads and waterproofness of nylon parts.

MOUNTING ADVICES & RECOMMENDATIONS
3. GENERAL MOUNTINGS RECOMMENDATIONS › STANDARD ISO 9119 :
A1
SNS® bindings have to be mounted with skis in compliance with ISO 9119 standard to ensure the right level of performance, reliability and safety. The standardized dimensions for the bindings’ mounting area allow:
ski
balance
A2
- ski manufacturers to place ski inserts within the defined area, - binding manufacturers to determine the dimensions of the junction zone for the bindings parts, positioning of the screws… Skis and bindings built according to the standard ISO 9119 are compatible.
Line up the mid-point indicator on the JIG with the ski manufacturer’s midpoint indicator. If there is no mid-point indicator, balance the ski to locate the mid-point. Atomic recommends to mount SNS bindings 1 centimeter behind balance point (excepted Junior) on skis unless instructed otherwise by the ski manufacturer. 2. SELECTING AND FITTING THE DRILL BIT (fig. A2) Select the recommended special crosscountry drill bit. Caution: the drilling diameter of the ridge must be 3.6 mm.
A4
A3
3. DRILLING AND CLEANING (fig. A3)
› SCREWING FORCE ADVICE
Using the bushings on the jig for position, drill the holes that correspond to the binding being mounted. Turn the ski over and tap gently with the palm of your hand to remove the shavings from the holes. Clean the surface of the ski.
SNS BINDINGS ON FLAT SKIS:
4. MOUNTING THE BINDINGS (fig. A4) Place a small drop of Atomic glue into each hole and put the binding in place. Screw down the binding using the Atomic n° 3 posidrive screwdriver.
When mounting SNS bindings, screws should be tightened with a torque of 3.6 NM SNS BINDINGS ON NIS PLATE: - When mounting SNS bindings on NIS plates, screws should be tightened with a torque of 3.6 NM . - When done manually, the screws should not be tightened to the maximum to avoid crashing on NIS plates and unsure perfect functioning of the SNS bindings.

REMOUNTING BINDINGS REPLACING SNS® PROFIL® BINDINGS Replacing SNS Profil that are already mounted on a ski with SNS® Pilot® bindings, there is a ‘centerer’ that can be placed under the jig to ensure perfect alignment for drilling the additional hole.
PROCEDURE FOR REMOUNTING BINDING OBSERVATION
SOLUTION
PROCEDURE
Verify the condition of the holes 1. R emount the binding directly into the existing holes.
- Oval
2. U se special crosscountry plugs.
- Not properly aligned - In a sound ski - Round
Jig
Drill bit special plug
- Not oval - Properly aligned - In a racing ski (light structure)
To obtain the proper drilling depth: - m ake sure the shoulder of the bit is flush with the drill chuck, - d rill until the chuck bears down on the bushings of the jig.
- Very off-centered - Questionable position - In a sound ski
3. M ount the binding in the new holes.
Follow the same mounting procedure as for new skis. Note: If this fails, use solution 2. 1. Position the jig above the existing holes. 2. Drill the three binding holes with the special Atomic bit. 3. Do not drill the hole corresp onding to the guide ridge if it is mounted with a plastic plug. 4. Glue (epoxy only) and insert the repair plugs. 5. Wait for the glue to hold. 6. F ollow the same mounting procedure as for new skis (see Mounting chapter).
BINDINGS
- Round - Not oval - Properly aligned - In a sound ski
1. Clean the ski and fill in the old holes with Atomic plugs. 2. Position the jig 15‑mm behind the old holes. 3. F ollow the same mounting procedure as for new skis.

BINDINGS MAINTENANCE
ROLLER SKIING A SPECIAL ROLLER SKIING JIG IS AVAILABLE : REF 105588
GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS: No special maintenance is required for bindings however you can recommend to your customer: ■
To avoid wax build-up on the guide ridge or under the boot sole to avoid snow build-up (snow build-up in the ridge area of the sole could block entry into the binding),
■
To leave the bindings open after taking the skis off,
■
In summer, do not leave skis with boots in the bindings, store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, avoid attics, balconies, sheds and places close to heat sources,
■
Do not place equipment on top of radiators or other heat sources and do not place in a microwave oven,
BINDINGS ADAPTED TO ROLLER SKIING: STYLE Skating
SNS PILOT SPORT CLASSIC: For optimum performance and to reduce snow sticking on the Pilot soft link, we recommend to apply some silicon spray on the Pilot soft link. For better efficiency, one’s should pull out the soft link using a screwdriver and apply the silicon spray no only on the white hook but also on the black strap.
