Sigma™ is Salomon’s innovative lens solution that significantly amplifies color contrast on snow, enabling the eye to instantly read terrain variations.

A high-contrast lens cannot perform at its best in all types of environments. That’s why Salomon’s Sigma™ lens was specifically developed to better interpret snowy terrain The eye is made up of blue, green and red cones that detect different colors of light. But in a snowy environment, white light reflected from the snowy triggers all three cones and makes it hard to see detail.

Sigma™ lenses reduce the green light in the middle of the spectrum, therefore boosting the blue and red light transmitted. It offers less confusion between these 2 colors, so the snow appears sharper, with more clarity and detail.

Finally, all lenses are treated with a specific coating which makes them more resistant to fogging.

Cylindrical lenses are designed on a base curvature on the X axis (horizontal), they follow the curve of the face, offer a good field of vision and reduce optical distortions. On the other hand, spherical lenses are designed on both X and Y axes (horizontal and vertical).
