Editorial HopitalExpo, GerontHandicapExpo and Health-ITExpo were held together for the first time in May 2013 under the title of «LES SALONS DE LA SANTÉ ET DE L’AUTONOMIE» (The Health and Independence Trade Shows). This was an ambitious challenge. Each event already had a firmly established individual identity in people’s minds! Yet there was a real need, in line with the vision developed by the Fédération hospitalière de France (FHF), to create a joint event bringing together the various players in the hospital and social healthcare institutions. The three-days trade show brought together these sectors, offering shared exhibition spaces and developing joint reflection, and thereby encouraging synergies required by our system. The new format also sent out a strong signal to industrial partners and professional associations regarding our determination to work closely with them. As far as the FHF is concerned, health-sector companies and associations are more than ever before essential partners. This evolution is reflected in the export of the French health model as well as its industrial know-how. Hence the 2013 Salons de la Santé et de l’Autonomie were delighted to welcome numerous foreign delegations from countries such as Denmark, Germany, Russia, Morocco and Senegal. We can expect that the 2014 event will continue to develop this ambition.
