Shay – Originally from West Philadelphia is not married, but is looking forward to marriage and a family in the future She loves to roller skate and enjoys dinner with friends. When she is not working, as a student, she study’s Shay’s hair is natural. She states that she knew relaxers would eventually breakdown her hair and scalp with long term use, plus she was curious to see what her natural hair looked like. She has been natural for two year and she uses Crème of Nature’s Argan oil detangling shampoo and conditioner. She says it makes detangling her hair a non-issue. Super easy. Shay loves fashion; clothes as much as the next girl, but she says she’s more into hairstyles, nail color and make-up. As a teen Shay would express her style in her own way and says looking back on some of her choices, make her cringe. However, she is proud of her sense of fashion now Shay is a photographer and has loved taking pictures since high school, so it was only natural for it to progress into a business. She does a variety of photography from weddings, portraits and events, but her favorite is fashion and editorial photography Her studio is called Red Cedar Studio and it’s in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia Her biggest inspiration was just taking her professional photography to the next level because she needed space to work and it was necessary and time for it happen Page 14 Salon World USA Magazine December/January 2013

The Ladies room is basically good conversation among girlfriends. Their female listeners are “our girlfriends” and they call our male listeners our ladies men. Topics are designed to entertain, educate and empower Shay met Sheila in a broadcasting class during their senior year at Temple University When asked if her and Sheila ever disagree on topics, Shay replied “yes we do!” One such topic was the subject of forgiveness. Shay’s response to the topic was “it’s good to forgive, let go and move on” while Sheila’s response was “forgiveness isn’t absolutely necessary in order for a person to move on” Before the Ladies Room, Shay worked in production at NBC 10 News When asked what topics she likes to engage in, Shay replied, “Relationships. There are a million topics to touch on and nearly everyone can relate and chime in on relationship discussions” Shay disclosed that she has never had a blooper ‘on-air’ as she tries to keep things P.C. Shay was a model for a blog and found it to be an honor and felt it was pretty cool to be on the other side of the camera Shay told us that in making her dream studio a reality came with little to no challenges. She shares her studio with several of her photographer friends and they all work well together….Thank God

When asked how did she become part of the Ladies Room radio talk show, she said it was Sheila who reached out to her with a girlfriend’s radio concept and she fell in love with the idea. She had previous radio experience while attending college

As far as any other endeavors she would like to embark upon in the future, Shay says she’s in school now preparing to be a nurse To reach out to Ms. Shay; please visit her at http://www.shayshoots.com/#! http://www.facebook.com/TheLadiesRoom Live radio show at http://www.wifiam1460.com

Sheila – Originally from West Philadelphia, born and raised. She is married as she proudly states to a wonderful, supportive man for the past 4 years When she is not working, she enjoys reading, traveling and community service Sheila’s hair is natural and decided to go natural when her processed hair was thinning out and became unhealthy. She states that it was her best friend who urged her to go natural. When we asked the question of what products she would recommend, she replied “The natural hair journey is such a unique one for each woman, so every product doesn't work the same for all. However, I personally love the Kinky Curly line” Because of Sheila’s love for fashion, she started a business centered on it. She enjoys colors, prints, patterns, different looks and styles. Sheila stated that fashion is a form of self expression for many people The name of her shop is ‘Hidden Glam’ and she said her younger sister actually gave her the name ‘The Glam Thrifter’ a few years ago. “Hidden Glam" is a fabulous women's clothing boutique which is split into 2 parts. The front of the store is new clothing and the back of the shop carries pre-owned vintage and pre-owned brand name clothing. I also sell shoes and accessories, and offer consignment services to my clients Sheila’s boutique is located in the beautiful town of Ambler, PA. Her biggest inspiration for opening her boutique was because of her desire to own a business while doing something she enjoys, which is shopping and teaching others Page 22 Salon World USA Magazine December/January 2013

career, relationships, finances, kids and anything else going on in our lives”. The tag line is “Love, Life and Everything in Between!” When asked if her and Shay ever disagree on topics, she answered ‘all the time, but that’s what’s genuine about our show. Friends don’t always agree and it’s good to have more than one perspective on various issues” When asked to name one topic in particular, Sheila replied with “Idris and Denzel”. She further stated that her and Shay could go back and forth about the two, but for the record, she would vote Denzel (laughs) Before the ‘Ladies Room’ Sheila was a full time television news reporter for 6 ½ years. It wasn’t really a gig per say, but it was part of her career. Sheila says she enjoyed it immensely and these days she freelances while operating her store and doing the radio show On the show, the topics she and Shay like to engage on the most are about relationships and not just the romantic ones. She likes to talk about relationships with friends, family, professional colleagues and also their relationships. She thinks those connections are so layered that it provides so much material for them on the show

how to save money. She has encountered a few challenges, but they were all overcome with the support of her family and friends Sheila became a part of the ‘Ladies Room’ because of an opportunity she was given to create a radio show for women in 2010. With this opportunity to reached out to Shay when she was in search of a co-host and says the rest is history! Sheila says ‘The Ladies Room’ is like speaking on the phone with your best girlfriends for an hour. The ‘Ladies Room’ has great R&B music thrown in and they talk about love,

When asked if she ever had a blooper on the air, she replied ‘On the show? Not too many of those, although we do have brain freezes and funny moments we don’t always expect because the show is live” Sheila’s endeavors for her future is looking forward to growing her business and perhaps opening a second location To reach out to Ms. Sheila; please visit her at http://www.hiddenglam.com/ http://www.meetsheilafortson.com Live radio show at http://www.wifiam1460.com Salon World USA Magazine December/January 2013 Page 23
