WELCOME
SALTDEAN UNITED FC
Good afternoon and welcome back to Hill Park in what seems a while since we were here. We would like to give a warm welcome to our opponents, officials and supporters for today’s game.
Last week we travelled to Aylesford where we made it a lot more difficult than we should have. Being 4-1 up and pretty comfortable, to conceding two goals in quick succession and then a nervy last ten. It was good to get another 3 points on the board which now sees us take 9 out of 12 in the league, something we need to continue today.
The DS had a good result against Deene Park and put themselves in the hat for the next round of the cup. It is good to see a number of them step up to the first team squad and challenge themselves at a hugher level.
We would like to say a massive thank you to the LA Bar in Saltdean who are now our new away kit sponsors. We love working with local businesses, they have a fantastic little bar with great beer, great music which is locally owned and locally ran! Go and check them out.
We still have a number of sponsorship packages including player sponsors available. If this is something you would be willing to support us with, please get in touch. Your name / logo will be on our website www.saltdeanunited.co.uk , online programme and social media throughout the season. Thanks for your continued support. Enjoy the game!
MANAGER ZAK DOVE
Hello and welcome back to Hill Park.
It has been a little while since we were last here. With so much having happened between now and then, we are very happy to be back at home .
Over the last few weeks we have had a weekend off, sandwiched between two tough away games. We return this weekend coming off an exciting win, also we have had a number of players coming back into the squad having been out through injuries. This meaning we are now at our closest to being fully fit as we have been so far this season.
Playing Sutton today will be a physically testing game, we fully expect them to be competitive and strong. However as always I believe that if we stick to the strengths we have developed over a number of weeks, then we should be in a really good place to get a positive result.
We have set ourselves goals as individuals as well as a group. I believe that these goals are more then achievable, however it will take the squad to work hard and show consistency.
Lastly I would like to take a moment to pay my respects to the royal family through this tough and testing time.
CAPTAIN’S NOTES
GEORGIA BRIDGES
Good afternoon and welcome back to Hill Park!
Last week we were away to Aylesford and got another 3 points under our belt which was important after our visit to Ebbsfleet.
We’ve been working hard to try and tighten up our performances and to become more consistent on match days throughout the 90+ minutes.
Despite being joint second in the league, we know we can give more. We’ve set the standard and we are pushing each other to get the best out of us individually and as a squad.
We’ve started to really jell as a team off the pitch as well as on the pitch. Zak and the background staff have brought together a really special group of players. We have a team of brilliant characters which I think is so important to making football enjoyable.
We are hoping for another 3 points today and will do our best to get just that.
With people starting to come back from injury our squad depth is only getting stronger which is very exciting.
Cheer us on!
“Despite being joint second in the league, we know we can give more.”
GET TO KNOW ABBIE MEASURES
Abbie, you have been at the Tigers for a couple of seasons now, why Saltdean United Women FC?
This is now my second season at Saltdean FC, and I cannot imagine myself anywhere else. I have now moved back from university in Brighton and the trav el is worth every minute due to the amazing relationships made with the squad and I cannot fault any of the coaching staff. Zak and Tom have been amazing to me, and I can see myself improv ing every game.
Have you always been a centre back?
In my16 years of playing, I have played various positions from centre-mid to fullback but I have always been a player who prefers a more defensive role because I love a tackle!
You have recently become a qualified teacher, how have you found the balance with football?
Ooo this is a hard question to answer. I was never ready for this fulltime life, going from sleeping in at university until 11am to now getting up at 6:30am is not the one. The first week was the hardest and I felt like I was thrown into deep end but despite the long hours it is worth every minute.
SPONSORED SPONSOR AVAILABLE
The league this season is very strong, a number of players are stepping down from tier 3/4 to play. We have started the season quite well with 3 wins out of 4, how have you found it?
I have loved every minute playing with the girls, and I feel we are all aware of what is expected of us. During preseason, we spent a lot of time on tactical strategies, and I feel it is a key part to our success. Let’s keep it up girls!
It was a fantastic summer with the Lionesses winning the Euros! How do you think this is going to help women’s football moving forward?
I think the Lionesses win this Summer has made it the best summer yet. It is only up for the women’s game and a statistic that already proves it was this weekend’s fixture Arsenal vs Spurs who had 53,000 supporters attend!
Who is your football icon and why?
I have never really had a football icon but one this summer has to be Leah Williamson; she captained the Lionesses to victory and is one of the best centre backs in the world.
Worst banter in the dressing room?
It has to be Mia Mack for the continuous making of Tiktoks & Georgia Bridges for encouraging it!

Welcome back after what seems a long time!
Since we were last here, the DS have started their league campaign and begun their challenge for the cup. On the 4th September we experienced a tough game against Hassocks LFC in which we had a very disappointing loss of 6-1. However, last Sunday the DS had a much more positive result as we defeated Denne Park Women in Horsham and now proceed to the next round of the cup!
Our next game is the next round of the cup in which we have been drawn against, The View Ladies. This will take place at their ground on the 9th of October, we’d love to see you there!
In the meantime we look to train hard and come to support the first team in their game against Sutton.
Up The Tigers!
