are magical and I’m pretty sure travel by portal. I’m also probably addicted to social media — probably something I should have examined, cause my thumb regularly hurts from scrolling through nonsense.
FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF
ARE THERE ANY PROJECTS YOU’RE CURRENTLY WORKING ON YOU’D LIKE TO TALK ABOUT? My music can be heard at albatrossrecslc.bandcamp. com. My dream job would be to compose scores, do music supervision for film and television, so if anybody has a project and wants to take a chance, I’m available. Albatross Recordings is my corner of the market collective at Oliver & Princess Natasha (25a Kensington Ave in slc). We sell records and other media, as well as clothing and apparel.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED FOR SLFS? Since January 2019. Caught the Sundance rush early on, so everything else is pretty easygoing in comparison, traffic-wise. WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO APPLY? The sound of popcorn and a love for the Tower’s rental library — for every movie I’ve seen, there are thousands more I’ll likely never get around to. Maybe that should stress me out, but I find it comforting, in a way. There’s always more to discover. I appreciate the work the Film Society is doing to bring independent cinema to this city, and offering a platform for filmmakers from all over the world to share their visions. We’ve also recently embarked on a program (MAST) to help creators develop their work on the production end of things. I find this quite exciting. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING FOR SLFS? My coworkers are all really nice. We’re united by a shared love of cinema and other assorted media. I get to talk about movies with people, the lobby lighting isn’t too bright, and the Broadway’s concessions stand is STOCKED. HOW WOULD YOU SAY FILM IMPACTS YOUR LIFE? I’ve loved movies for as long as I can remember. As a

child, I was obsessed with trying on masks of my favorite characters. Salt Lake Costume Company was a bizarre haven. My cousins and I would improvise sequels to movies like Terminator 2 in our basements. All we needed was a camera, some homemade props, and a leather jacket. Cinema offers a welcome opportunity to leave my world for a while. It’s really special. TELL US ABOUT YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF SLFS. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES? I’ve owned a small business, Albatross Recordings & Ephemera for the last five years. I like it. I spend a lot of time at home listening to records, watching movies, cooking, and making up songs about my three cats. They
WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES FOR THE FUTURE OF SLFS? To see PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE with a shadow cast at the Tower, more repertory shows, screenings with livescore. A significant aspect of my appreciation for the Film Society is my appreciation for the Tower. I’d work most shifts there, if I could. It’s one of the few remnants of the 9th & 9th I spent time in growing up. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FILM YOU’VE SEEN AT SLFS AND WHY IS IT YOUR FAVORITE? MANDY or ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE. One is a beautiful fever dream that vibrated my entire being in a strange purple way, the other is a lovely meditation on the nature of mortality and existence that still manages to have a sense of humor. Both have excellent soundtracks.
