R ecently, I was talking to a friend who wasn’t sure if God is real. Like many people, they wondered why a good God would allow bad things to happen. We ended up having a good chat and spoke about the story in this week’s Bible cartoon.

In the beginning when God made the world it was perfect. The rst two humans, Adam and Eve, had everything they needed. But God gave them one important instruction: they could eat anything they wanted except the fruit from the tree that gave knowledge of good and evil. He even warned them what would happen if they did eat it. Sadly, when the sneaky serpent came along, Adam and Eve chose not to trust God and ate the forbidden fruit.

Since then the world hasn’t been the same. Sin, which describes the choices we make when we break God’s rules, has led to many issues, including bullying, racism, war and the causes of climate change. These were not a part of God’s original plan. He wanted us to care for the earth and to look after one another.

Thankfully, God has sent us help through Jesus. When we become his friend, Jesus helps us to make choices that please God and show love to others. As I said to my friend during our chat, God doesn’t force us to do anything. He loves us so much, he wants us to decide if we’ll accept his love. So, readers, will you choose to love God too?
