Choose to Obey

This week’s Bible story features a rm favourite among Kids Alive! readers – Noah’s ark! Noah’s story is pretty incredible. Not only does he save lots of animals, but Noah shows what it truly means to be obedient to God.

By Noah’s time, the perfect world that God created was ruined. Everyone was making wrong choices, doing bad things and hurting each other. Everyone that is except Noah. Despite what he saw others doing, Noah made the choice to follow God.

So when God told him to build an ark, Noah didn’t hesitate. He built it just like God said. In fact, everything God told Noah to do, he did. There was no grumbling or moaning. Noah simply obeyed.

But can you imagine how Noah might have felt being the odd one out? Or how many times he had to explain why he was building an ark? Then there was the ood itself – locked in a boat with lots of animals for days on end. Whew! I can only imagine the noise … and smell! But despite how dif cult or embarrassing doing everything God asked was, Noah still obeyed.

In the end, Noah’s obedience and offering helped remind God of his deep love for creation. God promised never to ood the earth again, and as a sign, made the rainbow as a reminder for all time.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve learnt that the choices we make are important. Will you be like Noah and choose to follow God?
