What makes your tummy
Perhaps it’s discovering the perfect present on Christmas morning. Maybe it’s seeing the beach for the frst time when you’re on holiday. If you’re a football fan, watching UEFA Euro 2024 might make your tummy feel like it’s doing somersaults!
Yesterday (14 June) was the It started with a match between Scotland and the host nation of the championship, Germany! Don’t worry if you missed out on watching that game because there are so many more magni to come. Twenty-four nations from all around Europe will play against each other in 51 matches. Then on 14 July, the two best teams will go head-to-head to decide the winner of the tournament!
The last UEFA Euro Championship was Euro 2020 and England almost managed to bring the trophy home! They made it to the fnal but were beaten by Italy in a penalty shoot-out! This year, both England and Scotland have another shot at winning the championship. So whether you support England, Scotland or any other nation, get ready for your tummy to do lots of fips – and get ready to hopefully do an awful lot of cheering!
You can watch live Euro 2024 matches on BBC One, ITV1 or STV. Coverage will also be shown on these channels’ online platforms. Matches will also be shown on RTÉ in the Republic of Ireland.
England’s first match will be against Serbia at 8pm on 16 June (BBC One and BBC iPlayer). Scotland’s next match will be against Switzerland at 8pm on 19 June (BBC One and BBC iPlayer).
My favourite football player is Bukayo Saka, who plays for Arsenal and England. I like him because he’s such a talented player, but that’s not the only reason he’s my favourite. I love that he’s not afraid to tell anyone that he believes in God.
Saka often points to the sky after scoring a goal as a way of thanking God and he calls himself God’s child on social media. Saka has also said in a press conference that he reads his Bible every night and that he knows God always has his back and will take care of him.
I fnd Saka’s confdence in sharing his faith in God really inspiring. It makes me want to be braver about sharing my friendship with God too. I hope you feel the same after reading this and that you feel brave enough to tell friends that you’re a child of God too!

So What’s the Big Story? Faith Kids Alive! follows the Salvation Army Children and Youth’s Explore It! resource –go to salvationist.org.uk/resources/discipleship/explore-it 4
One time I went for a long walk with my cousin. As we were heading home, the sun started to set. I was scared that it would get dark and that we’d get lost! My cousin was an amazing wilderness explorer so he told me, ‘Don’t worry! I know what I’m doing.’
Do you have faith that God knows what he’s doing? That’s something that the Hebrew church struggled with! The people of the Hebrew church were being treated horribly, so it was really hard for them to have faith in God.
The Bible contains lots of letters and one of those letters was written for the Hebrew church. The writer of the letter knew that the church was having a tough time. That’s why the writer told the church about different followers of God who had put their faith in him, such as Abel, Noah and Abraham. They had faith that God cared for them and had a plan for them! It didn’t matter how hard life got. They knew that when they died they would go to a perfect new home – Heaven!
Speaking of home, the sun was still up when my cousin and I got back from our walk. My cousin hadn’t been lying! He really did know what he was doing. All I had to do was have faith and follow him!
God knows what he’s doing too. He cares for you and he has a plan for you. So just like I had faith that my cousin would lead me home, put your faith in Jesus and trust that he knows what’s best.

Jacob’s got lost on yet another walk! Help Jacob to choose the right path to get back home before the sun sets.

Bumper Bible Breakdown
Did you know the Bible isn’t one big book? It’s actually 66 books put together to tell one big story of God’s great love. Join us as we look at each Bible book and discover why God made the world, what went wrong and how in the end God saved the world through his son, Jesus.
Hannah and Samuel
Hannah was heartbroken as she had no children. One day, Hannah went to the Temple and prayed with all her heart for God to bless her with a son. Hannah promised God that if he gave her a son she would bring him to the Temple to live and serve the Lord. God answered Hannah’s prayer and she had a son called Samuel.
From a young age Samuel lived with Eli the priest in the Temple. One night, God called out to Samuel with a message for Eli. Whenever God spoke to him, Samuel listened and obeyed. Samuel grew into a great leader in Israel. His roles included being a judge, priest, prophet and counsellor to the people. Samuel also played an important role in uniting the 12 tribes into 1 nation and anointed the frst 2 kings of Israel.

Optical illusions use colour, light or patterns to confuse our brains – that means the illusions look different to what is actually there.
Move your eyes quickly up and down or left and right over this pattern. Do the snakes look like they’re moving? The bright and colourful patterns can confuse your brain and make it think the pattern is moving rather than your eyes.

What’s your favourite type of music? Maybe you love pop music and can’t think of anything better than chilling out to a Taylor Swift song. Perhaps you’re a big fan of classical music and hearing a full orchestra gives you goosebumps. Or maybe there’s nothing better than sitting next to a re as someone strums an acoustic guitar.
It’s Make Music Day on 21 June – a day all about enjoying and celebrating every type of music! There’ll be plenty of opportunities to listen to pop music and classical music. There’ll be music that makes you feel relaxed and music that makes you want to dance. However, Make Music Day isn’t just about listening to music – it’s also about playing it!
Music Is Everywhere!
As part of Make Music Day there’ll be events all over the United Kingdom, and these events will all be free! Schools will be putting on assemblies, bands will be playing live performances and choirs will be singing their hearts out.
You’ll be able to listen to lots of wonderful music being played by people from your local community, and you might even get the opportunity to make some music of your own! Visit makemusicday.co.uk/events nd an event near you.
Music can have magnifcent benefts. Scientists have found that listening to music can help you to learn better and improve your ability to memorise things. It can even help to make you feel less tired and help to lower anxiety!
If a song’s really good then you might start dancing, and that can help to keep your heart healthy. So get involved in Make Music Day and don’t be afraid to show off your best moves. It’s good for you!

Magnificent Music
Hear More
We’re sure it won’t come as a surprise that Make Music Day isn’t the only time that you can listen to tons of music! Here are a few ideas for how you can hear more terrifc tunes.
Check out what’s available on the London Symphony Orchestra website at lso.co.uk/streaming-online. There are so many musical events that you can listen to for free!
Watch the ceremony of Trooping the Colour today (15 June) at 10.30am on BBC One. It’s a ceremony to celebrate King Charles III’s birthday and around 400 musicians will be taking part. It’s going to sound spectacular!
Go to church this Sunday. Lots of churches have a band, piano or organ that plays music during a service – and they might play lots of different types of songs!
Play More
You don’t need to be called Ed Sheeran to play music and you don’t need to own an instrument either! Here are a few ideas for ways that you can get playing.
Make your own instrument! You could make a shaker out of a water bottle and some rice. Or you could head to supersimple.com/article/homemade-guitar-craft to learn about how to make your own crafty guitar!
Talk to musicians at your church! They might be willing to help you learn how to play an instrument. If you can already play, you could even ask to get involved in a band.
Collect empty bottles. Fill them up with different levels of water and then blow into them to make a tune.
Karaoke Time!
There are a few microphones scattered around these pages. Power up each microphone by drawing a line to connect them to the amp on the right – and then get singing!
Dance, play or sing your way through Make Music Day on 21 June!
