eet Zhi, a slow-moving loris who has to enter a race across China’s historic Silk Road. He’s racing to save the last Loris Village, including his granny’s home, which is facing demolition and development by a crazy toad named Archibald Vainglorious.

Archibald Vainglorious has been reigning champion of the rally car circuit for two decades. He’s a hero to Zhi who has spent his life dreaming of racing glory, even though his Granny doesn’t approve.

When Vainglorious Industries threatens to destroy Loris Village, Zhi confronts his hero and proposes a plan. They will both enter the Silk Road Rally. If Zhi wins, Vainglorious will give him the deeds to Granny’s house. If Zhi loses, he’ll become the face of the new Muddy Meadows development. It’s a tough test for Zhi, but will he be able to overcome all the obstacles and save the day?

If you want to find out who wins, check out ‘Rally Road Racers’ in UK cinemas now

After entering the Silk Road Rally, Zhi – the main character in Rally Road Racers – begins to doubt himself. That’s when a wise old goat called Gnash reassures Zhi that he has everything he needs and tells him, ‘You and me together? There ain’t nothing you can’t do!’

That reminded me of a really cool bit from the Bible, Philippians 4:13, which says exactly that, ‘You and me together? There ain’t nothing you can’t do!’ Well, it doesn’t say exactly that, but the idea is very similar. Why not look it up for yourself?

Of course, Philippians 4:13 doesn’t mean you could literally do anything – you couldn’t strap on a pair of lead boots and fy to the Moon. However, it does mean that Jesus is with you in all you try to do for him, and he’ll give you exactly what you need to live your best life with him.

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT USING YOUR STRENGTHS IN THE RIGHT WAY

Share Your Strength says Ibukun Baku

Who’s the strongest person you know and what makes them strong? Are they super- t with lots of muscles? Or are they strong in other ways? Maybe they’re kind and make good choices even in tough situations. That’s called having strength of character. In this week’s cartoon Bible story, Samson was super-strong physically, but he didn’t have a strong character.

God chose Samson to help free the Israelites from the Philistines’ rule. To achieve this, God gave him super-strength. Samson wasn’t allowed to cut his hair as a sign that he was set apart for God. If Samson kept this rule, God’s power would be with him.

But Samson didn’t treat God’s gift to him with

respect. Instead, Samson used his strength to make sure he got his own way. This led to some poor choices including marrying a Philistine called Delilah. She convinced Samson into revealing the secret to his power and had his hair cut. With time, Samson realised his mistake, told God he was sorry and was able to do what God had wanted after all.

God has given each of us gifts too – talents and skills that can be used to help others. How can you use your strength in a way that honours God? Whether you’re athletic, artistic, or great at bringing people together, why not start by thanking Jesus for all the things you enjoy doing? Then nd ways to share your strengths with others and help make a difference in the world around you.

Vostok 1 and the First Person in Space

Let’s have a big fanfare for this week’s ‘That’s Cosmic!’ because it features … wait for it … the rst person in outer space! Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was blasted into space using a Vostok 1 launch rocket on 12 April 1961. Once the rocket reached the correct height, the Vostok 3KA space capsule that carried Gagarin detached and completed one orbit (lap) of Earth.

Medical staff and spacecraft engineers were worried about how weightlessness might affect people, so the controls in the capsule were switched off. That meant Yuri was just a passenger on board a spacecraft controlled from Earth. From launch to landing, the entire ight lasted one hour and forty-eight minutes. Once the capsule re-entered Earth’s atmosphere, Yuri Gagarin ejected himself from the capsule and parachuted back to Earth.

British Food Fortnight

Get ready for a fortnight of fabulous food, because it’s British Food Fortnight! This is a national celebration of all the diverse and delicious food that Britain produces and it’s taking place between 16 September and 1 October.

Best of British

In Britain we produce so many different kinds of food and drink. The full list is too big to t on these pages – so here’s a taster of some of the delicious delights that we can enjoy from our land or shores.

Lamb

Beef Fish Cheese Milk Apples Pears

Blackberries Plums Tomatoes

Mushrooms Sweetcorn Why It Makes a Difference

There are so many good reasons to eat locally-sourced food. Firstly, British food travels less far from farm to shop to our plates, which makes it much better for our planet than transporting food across the world.

Also, eating food that’s in season is good for us. Foods in season contain all the nutrients and minerals that our bodies need at particular times of the year. Last, but not least, it helps support British farmers and other producers.

12

How to Take Part

There will be hundreds of events taking place in communities across Britain during British Food Fortnight. These will include fun activities, foodie lessons and special menus in lots of schools. See if your school, church or local community is planning something to celebrate. Here are some more ways you can celebrate all things British over the next fortnight and beyond!

When you’re at the supermarket with your family, look at labels to see where the food has come from. Does it come from somewhere in the UK? If not, is there something else you can buy instead?

Alternatively, shop at local butchers, greengrocers, farm shops and markets and ask the people that work there where their food comes from.

Seek out foods that are in season. There’s a handy guide on the Love British Food website – lovebritishfood.co.uk/whats-in-season-when

Ask your school teachers if it’s possible to have a British Food Fortnight menu one day or one week. Also, see if your teachers can organise special activities or assemblies so you and your friends can learn more about British food. There are loads of resources in the Teacher Zone on the Love British Food website.

Cook a British food-themed feast for friends and family. Make an old favourite, such as shepherd’s pie or apple crumble. Or if you’re cooking food traditionally from another country, look for British ingredients to use in those recipes.

Go fruit or vegetable picking! See if there’s a hedgerow with blackberries or a pick-your-own farm near you.

Get growing yourself, even if it’s just some herbs in a pot. Potatoes and carrots are also easy to grow and don’t need much space. You can even do it in hanging baskets and windowsill boxes.

Attend a local harvest festival. British Food Festival takes place at the time when many churches or communities are holding harvest festivals. You don’t need to be a regular church-goer to attend a church service –see if your local church has something you can pop along to.
