The Famous Five are back for another action-packed adventure. In Peril on the Night Train it’s August 1939 and Uncle Quentin is preoccupied with inventing a state-of-the-art proto-computer called the Algebra Engine. Aunt Fanny is also busy working on a new mystery novel. That means George, Julian, Dick, Anne and Timmy the dog are being kept out of trouble by their tutor Mr Roland. However, the gang are worried that Uncle Quentin’s breakthrough invention will be snatched away by the country’s enemies. The fve want to deliver the Algebra Engine to the Secret Intelligence Service’s top secret facility in Scotland, which involves a trip on the Highland Sleeper train. However, the fve friends are not alone on that train. Also along for the ride are international woman of mystery, Sabrina Grover, typewriter salesperson Frau Winter and American businessman Maxwell Endicott Jr. Before long the Algebra Engine becomes the object of a dangerous game of pass-the-parcel as the Famous Five try to foil the plans of their mysterious enemy!
‘The Famous Five: Peril on the Night Train’ will be shown on CBBC at 5.30pm on Friday 29 March and available on BBC iPlayer. This is the second episode in the series – the first one is on BBC iPlayer now.
I’m defnitely a bookworm – I’ve always loved reading books. It’s so cool that books can take you to new worlds, introduce you to different characters and help you to escape from the boring parts of everyday life. I’ve got great memories of getting lost in some brilliant books as a kid, including Enid Blyton’s Famous Five adventures.
If you like adventure stories, did you know the Bible is full of them too? The story of Joseph and his colourful coat is a journey with loads of ups and downs, Daniel in the lions’ den has parts that will have you on the edge of your seat and Moses’ life is full of epically adventurous situations.
Why don’t you get lost in some brilliant Bible adventures?
If you don’t have a Bible at home, talk to your Sunday school leader or see if your local library has one you can borrow.

Looking at Saul, Looking at Jesus Check

Read the comment below about having peace for the future
You Can Trust God
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been looking . at Saul, the frst king of Israel, who continually struggled to trust the instructions God gave to him. In this week’s Bible cartoon, Jesus, our heavenly king, teaches his followers how to have peace as he chooses to trust in God’s plan for the future.
Quick question, if you knew something bad was going to happen, what would you do? Would you run away, try to stop it or warn others? If you said yes to any of these, I agree that I’d probably do the same. When Jesus told his disciples that he was going to suffer, die and be raised back to life again, Peter wanted to stop it from happening.
But Jesus was not impressed with Peter’s
reaction. You see, Jesus knew that these bad things had to happen so that the broken relationship between God and people could be fxed. Jesus was willing to suffer because he trusted in God’s plan to save the world. Instead of being worried and scared, Jesus had peace about the future.
This week is Holy Week when we remember Jesus’ fnal days on Earth and all the sad things he suffered. As you think about the future, are there things that you’re sad or worried about? The great news is we know that the Easter story ends with Jesus being raised back to life, just like he said. So like Jesus, let’s trust God and receive his perfect peace for the future.

Philippians 4:6–8 encourages us to pray and tell God what we’re worried about. When we do, it says God will give us his perfect peace. Use the space below to write or draw a prayer and share what’s on your mind with God.

Bumper Bible Breakdown
Did you know the Bible isn’t one big book? It’s actually 66 books put together to tell one big story of God’s great love. Join us as we look at each Bible book and discover why God made the world, what went wrong and how in the end God saved the world through his son, Jesus.
God Calls Abraham
Many years after the food, God called Abram and told him to leave his family home. He promised Abram he’d show him where to go and bless him with a large family. Abram listened and obeyed.
God made promises to Abram that his family would be as large as the number of stars in the sky and through them the world would be blessed. Then he changed Abram’s name to Abraham and his wife’s name to Sarah.
At long last, when Abraham was 100 years old, Sarah gave birth to their son Isaac.
Throughout his life, Abraham did everything God asked him to. God saw Abraham’s heart and was pleased because Abraham wholeheartedly trusted him.

Make a Palm Leaf
Draw,
Tomorrow (24 March) is Palm Sunday – the day Christians celebrate Jesus entering Jerusalem. Join in the celebrations by making your own palm leaf.
Get Ready!
1
Draw!
What To Do
1 Draw a palm leaf shape on to your card. Make sure the leaf flls the A4 page and cut it out.
2 Draw six lines vertically down the length of the palm leaf – each one about 15mm apart. Then ask a grown-up to help you cut along each line – don’t cut all the way to the edge of the leaf.
• Green A4 card
• A4 card in two other colours
• Pencil
• Scissors
• Ruler
• A grown-up to help
3 Cut out 15mm-wide strips from two other colours of A4 card. Make sure they’re wider than the width of your leaf.
4 Weave each strip of card through the slits of the palm leaf. Go forwards and backwards like a weave pattern –alternating between starting at the back and the front.
5 Trim the ends of the strips so they’re not too long.
6 Wave those palm leaves to celebrate the day Jesus entered Jerusalem!

World Theatre Day
On Wednesday 27 March people all over the world will be celebrating plays, musicals and other shows because it’s World Theatre Day! This celebration is about promoting all different types of theatre around the world, as well as making people realise how important theatres are.
The World is a Stage
In countries all over the world there are all sorts of theatre performances to enjoy. Here are just some of the styles of theatre that many people love to experience.
Musicals are performances that combine songs, spoken words, acting and dancing, such as Matilda the Musical
Puppet shows use puppets to tell stories. Some of the most famous puppet shows are Punch and Judy shows. These are about a character called Mr Punch and his wife Judy.
Operas also use music and singing to tell a story. The singers have incredibly powerful voices. One famous opera is Magic Flute, which is about Prince Tamino who is on a quest to rescue Princess Pamina.
Pantomimes are often in theatres around the United Kingdom at Christmastime. They’re a mix of songs, acting and jokes. There’s also usually lots of audience participation and they are often based on well-known fairy tales, such as
Ballet is a form of theatre that is danced. There are loads of famous ballet shows, including Lake, which tells the story of Prince Siegfried who falls in love with the Swan Queen, Odette.
12
Look Locally
Some theatre shows can be very expensive to go to. However, there are plenty of options that don’t mean your parents or carers have to spend lots of their money.
If you want to watch some terrifc theatre in person, ask your parents or carers to check out a smaller, local theatre near you. Some even have performances from local drama students that are free.
It’s Show Time
Club Together
If you enjoy creating your own theatre shows you might be interested in joining a club.
Of course, you don’t have to watch theatre to celebrate World Theatre Day. You can create your own theatre show – all you need is an idea and an audience! Throw in some props, such as hats or toys too if you like. Or rope in some family or friends to be other characters. You could act out famous fairy tales or create stories you’ve made up yourself. The possibilities are endless!
Drama clubs are perfect if you love acting and want to meet other kids that enjoy acting too. Acting is great for improving so many different skills. These include public speaking, memory, teamwork and social skills. It’s also great for boosting confdence!
If you’re not sure where to start your drama or music journey, talk to your parents, carers or schoolteachers about what drama and music clubs are available at your school. Hopefully there’s something you can get involved in.
Music is a big part of most theatre shows. Taking part in music clubs or groups is also great for improving many different skills. What’s also really cool is there are so many different instruments you can learn, whether they’re a trumpet, piano, drums or something else. There’s something for everyone!
Musical Theatre Day
If you’re aged between seven and seventeen, connected to The Salvation Army and enjoy musical theatre there’s something else you’ll want to check out. The Salvation Army’s Music and Creative Arts team are running a Musical Theatre Day at Regent Hall Salvation Army in London. During the day, you can learn songs, dances and drama performances from West End and Salvation Army musicals. Then there will also be an evening concert for family and friends.
