et ready to journey to a world where nothing is as it seems! Set in a futuristic version of the city of Lagos in Nigeria, Iwájú tells the story of Tola. Tola is a young girl who lives on a wealthy island with her father and a robotic pet lizard called Otin. When Tola travels from her home to the mainland she meets Kole – a self-taught tech expert who asks if Tola wants to see the ‘real’ Lagos. These two pals might have very different lives, but they must team up as they discover the secrets and dangers that are hidden in their different worlds. They may also need to rely on little Otin as they try to avoid being kidnapped by Tola’s father’s enemy! It’s two friends, two worlds, but just one future!

‘Iwájú’ is created by Kugali and all six episodes are available to stream on Disney+ now. The suggested age rating is 9+ so parents or carers are advised to make sure it’s suitable for their children.

As well as watching ‘Iwájú’ on Disney+ you can also check out the film’s African-inspired soundtrack or try out the ‘Iwájú’ game – Disney Iwájú: Rising Chef. This game takes players into the world of ‘Iwájú’ to explore authentic African delicacies and is available on the App Store or Google Play.

Tola and Kole from Iwájú are from very different worlds even though they live in the same city. It might seem a bit strange that two kids who grew up living so close to each other can have such different lives, but this happens in lots of cities around the world. People who have lots of money live alongside others who don’t have much. Lots of them even ride the train or bus beside each other too.

It was the same during the time when Jesus was on Earth too. There were plenty of rich and poor people living alongside each other. However, what made Jesus really special is the fact he took his message of love to the people that other religious leaders ignored, which included poorer people. That’s because Jesus loves us all exactly the same, no matter where we’re from or what we have. Isn’t that cool?

Who Can You Encourage?

What does kindness mean to you? Is it someone being generous, helping or listening to you?

I’m fortunate to have a friend who’s always encouraging me. They regularly pray with me, remind me of Bible verses and simply spend time with me. Whenever I’m with them, I’m reminded that God loves me, sees me and has good plans for me.

In this week’s Bible story, we see Samuel showing kindness to Saul. As a child Samuel listened to God and grew up to be a great judge in Israel. However, now that he was old, the people wanted a different kind of leader. So, God chose Saul for the role. But when Samuel told Saul God’s plan, Saul struggled to understand why God would choose someone like him. Despite literally

Read the comment below about how we can show kindness to others

standing out from others, Saul just couldn’t see himself the way God saw him.

Thankfully, Samuel understood that Saul needed some encouragement. By inviting Saul to the feast, giving him the best seat and the best part of the meat, Samuel showed Saul that God loved him, saw him and had good plans for him. Is there someone you know who could do with some encouragement this week? Maybe a new kid at school. Why not take an extra snack to school to share while getting to knowing them? Maybe a friend or family member you haven’t seen in a while. How about inviting them over for dinner and sharing a Bible verse? You can remind them that God loves them, sees them and has good plans for them.

Bumper Bible Breakdown

Did you know the Bible isn’t one big book? It’s actually 66 books put together to tell one big story of God’s great love. Join us as we look at each Bible book and discover why God made the world, what went wrong and how in the end God saved the world through his son, Jesus.

God Creates the World

When God created the world, it was perfect. God created Adam and gave him the responsibility of looking after the plants and animals. God told Adam he could eat any fruit he liked except the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Then God made Adam a wife, Eve, to help him. He spent time with both of them in the Garden of Eden. The garden was holy as it was where God and people met together.

But one day, the serpent appeared to Adam and Eve and tricked them into eating the forbidden fruit. As a result, sin entered the world. Adam and Eve were no longer perfect, because they had disobeyed God and had to leave Eden.

Living a healthy and an active lifestyle and caring for your physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

The KA! team are big fans of reading books, so we always get excited when World Book Day comes around. This year it’s taking place on Thursday 7 March.

Books for All

The aim of World Book Day is to change lives through a love of books and reading. There are so many reasons why reading books is really good for you. According to some research, reading for fun is a big indicator in how successful a child will be when they grow up. Unfortunately, not all children have access to books of their own, so World Book Day is a great opportunity to get books into their hands and inspire a love of reading.

Read Your Way

World Book Day celebrations encourage children to Read Your Way, because every reader is different and there’s no right or wrong way to enjoy reading. There are so many different genres and styles of books, so there’s something for everyone. There are even audiobooks if reading regular books isn’t your thing.

Organisers of World Book Day also believe it’s really important that you can take books home to read, listen to books being read aloud by parents or carers and choose the books that you want to read. It’s also great to ask for ideas on what to read next, make time to nd ways to make reading fun.

Story Swap

World Book Day organisers also have 15 different £1/€1.50 books for children to choose from. So pick up a £1/€1.50 voucher from your school and swap it for a book of your choice – you can fnd out what bookshops are taking part at worldbookday.com

Celebrate in Style

Lots of schools will be allowing kids to dress up as their favourite book character for World Book Day on Thursday. Dressing up doesn’t mean you need a new fancy dress outft. You could swap outfts with friends or family, have a look in charity shops or get creative by making something yourself. Here are some simple ideas if you’re struggling.

Put on a blue dress to be Matilda

Wrap yourself up in a white sheet to be someone from Horrible Histories: Rotten Romans

Make a Tom Gates face mask and draw illustrations on a white T-shirt like the ones in The Brilliant World of Tom Gates

Dress all in one colour and make yourself a cardboard hat to be one of the crayons from The Day the Crayons Quit

Pop on a yellow hoody and grab a black cat cuddly toy to become Ellie from Ellie and the Cat

Wear a football kit to be one of the footballers featured in Football Superstars

Other Ways to Get Involved

There are lots of other ways to enjoy World Book Day too. Here are some of them.

Find some time to read a new genre of book

Swap your favourite book with a friend

Ask your teachers or Sunday school leaders if you can start a book club

Make some bookmarks to give to family and friends

Visit your library to discover some super stories you’ve never read before

Donate some of your old books to a charity or local library

Use the space on page 11 of this week’s issue to start writing your own story

For more information about World Book Day, check out
