Get ready for eight action-packed days of cycling, because the Tour of Britain begins this week!
From 3 to 10 September cyclists will compete in eight stages across England and Wales as part of the UK’s biggest cycling race.
The Grand Depart (that’s when the race begins) takes place in Altrincham, Manchester. Spectators will line the streets in places such as Wrexham, Felixstowe, Southend and Gloucester hoping to see cycling stars including last year’s winner, Gonzalo Serrano. Then there will be a spectacular, but challenging, nale in Caerphilly that will include the legendary Caerphilly Mountain climb!
If the race is happening near where you live, why not get along to grab a glimpse of the riders? If that’s not possible, you can also watch every minute of the Tour of Britain on ITV4 in the UK. There will also be a daily highlights programme.
If you’re watching, keep an eye out for the rider wearing the leader’s jersey. It’s blue, white and red and the person wearing it is leading the Tour so far.
For more information about the race and timings, visit tourofbritain.co.uk
Recently I’ve helped my daughter learn to ride her bike. She’s picked it up quicker than I thought and apart from the moment where I nearly ran into a lamppost, it’s been great fun.
When we frst started she had to put all her trust in me to help her balance. Without me holding her, she would have fallen straight over. However, once she got the hang of things she managed to take more control and she was soon whizzing down our street. Although I was running alongside her, ready to catch her just in case!
We all have times when we need someone to help us balance. Whatever we’re facing or whenever we’re fnding things tough, God can be the support we need. Even when we feel a bit stronger, God will be there alongside us, ready to step in and catch us. So put your trust in him!

READ THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT GOD’S POWER IN ACTION
Be Strong and Courageous says Ibukun Baku
Do you like action lms? This year, my church read the whole book of Joshua and if you’re a fan of action then you’re in for a treat. This week’s Bible story shows God’s power in action as he gave the Israelites their rst victory in the Promised Land.
However, just like all great action lms, the Israelites’ journey was far from simple. Firstly, there were lows. Moses their great leader had died and Joshua his assistant was now in charge. How do you think he felt? Nervous? Scared? Thankfully, our kind and loving God had some very encouraging words for Joshua. God told Joshua to be strong and courageous because he would always be right there with him just as he’d been with Moses.
Secondly, there were challenges. Jericho’s towering
walls were high and wide and impossible to get through. But thirdly, like any good action lm there was also a plan. True to his promise, God gave Joshua speci c instructions that would lead to victory. After marching around the city walls for seven days with the Ark of the Covenant taking centre stage, Jericho’s walls came tumbling down!
The Ark was a reminder to God’s people that no matter what challenges lay ahead, he would always be with them. They could depend on his power and strength to overcome any obstacle. Is there anything that feels like an impossible challenge to you? Well God’s promise is true for you too – so be strong and courageous because God is with you.

sputnik 5
On 19 August 1960 Sputnik 5 was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome to learn more about the Earth’s orbit paths. The spacecraft didn’t have any human crew members, but it was the rst satellite to return to Earth after travelling with animals on board.
Sputnik 5 was home to 2 dogs called Belka and Strelka, 40 mice, 2 rats and some plants. The spacecraft landed back on Earth after 105 minutes in space with all the animals alive and well.
I love history! TURN TO PAGES 12 AND 13 TO SEE WHERE YOU CAN VISIT NEAR YOU TO LEARN ALL ABOUT THE PAST! See if you can spot this version of me on ANOTHER PAGE IN THIS WEEK’S ISSUE.
At the time of landing there was a snowstorm which meant the recovery team struggled to nd the spacecraft. However, 24 hours after landing it was discovered. Although Sputnik 5 landed in nearly 5 feet of snow, it was reported that it was still very hot to touch.
