Bric-A-Brac guide for The Skinny

Bric-A-Brac Guide

bankhall bazaar / Bootle / Burscough / BRITISH RED CROSS / BYGONE TIMES / Edge Lane

Bric-a-brac is of French origin meaning ‘at random’, although over the years the term has adapted the association with miscellaneous objects. The phrase is usually related to objects with little value however this is ironic given that the connotations of its origin country are generally those of luxury and wealth. We think that it sounds snazzy given its European flare and double hyphen. Everyone is guilty of hoarding things at some point. we are reluctant to throw out those jeans that are three sizes too small just in-case we fit back into the one day or we keep that ugly blue gravy boat that our mother-in-law gave us just in-case she stops by for Sunday lunch. Some of us waste weeks evaluating the pros and cons of parting with the bric-a-brac and usually we allow the cons to win, most times because we are too lazy to dedicate the time to sort through it all. In complete contrast to that, on our little island we are currently throwing 350,000 tonnes of clothing worth £140 million into landfill every year. We’ve done loads of research and complied a guide to enable you to buy and sell quality bric-a-brac around Merseyside and Lancashire. It’s like guilt-free shopping, you’re contributing to saving our island from sinking and if anyone asks where you got that vintage hoover complete with original box you can impress them with a new found knowledge. So, you’rE welcome!
