10 Tips for Selecting Toys for Your Speech Delayed Child

Every child is unique in their sense, they do things in their own way and on their own time. “Not all children are ready to learn same things at same way in same time” When concerned about your child speech development, the first person you should speak to is “your doctor”. Here are few tips in selecting toys for your speech delayed child given by Audiologist and Speech Therapist. 1. For your child to develop their speech, they have to practice. It can be little tricky to get speaker to talk, so engage them in meaningful play and activities where they naturally encouraged to participate in talking. 2. Give your child a chance to respond. Often your child takes long to respond on what is being spoken and for them to think on appropriate response and say it. 3. Don’t worry about gender while selecting toys. When picking toys for your child, don’t stick to gender specific toys. Let your girls play with trucks and trains and your boys play with toy kitchens and baby dolls. 4. Use more preposition, verbs and nouns in your speech, as such these will help to improve your child speech. It is not necessary to speak these words in daily basis, but especially when you are with your child, so that they will learn how to speak.
