Language delay are the most common development delay that are found in child at young age. Often they are resolved as time passes, they learn from their parents or by other family members. Spare Time: Parents should spare some time from their schedule with their child. They are the only source through which child can improve his speech. Its parent’s duty to know where their child is lacking and try to improve that, in the best way they can. There are many tricks and tacks through which speech can be improved. 2. Have word with your child: This is one of the most powerful way to improve your child’s language and speech development. Try to have conversation with your child through actions and gesture, let your child speak through your actions. Encourage child to find ways to overcome his speech delays by working toward getting what he wants. Repeating what a child wants when he points will also encourage him to ask for what he wants, as a parent makes a conscious effort to make him communicate. 3. Reading:


Reading is one of the best technique to improve your child speech. Children with speech and language problems may have trouble sharing their thoughts with words or gestures. They may also have a hard time saying words clearly and understanding spoken/written language. Reading to your child and having her/his name objects in a book or read aloud to you can strengthen her/his speech and language skills. 4. Be creative: “Make every opportunity a language learning activity”, if it’s a shopping , or bath-time, you can make every activity a language learning activity. Point to things, name them, sing a nursery rhyme, or ask a question. You don’t have to set aside a specific time of day to learn language, every activity is a language learning activity. Toddlers learn best when the experience is fun and interactive. Your child will not respond as well if he/she feels like the activities are “homework.” Instead, make each session of your speech therapy something your child will look forward to and will want to actively participate.
