Time for post Diwali detox
Along with diyas and fire crackers, Diwali is synonymous with fried snacks and sweets, since the festival makes it almost impossible to resist the temptations of giving in to high calorie sweets and delicacies. Needless to say, we have given a free rein to ourselves when it comes to indulging during Diwali But now Diwali is over and it’s time to get back on the health track. It's probably time to shed the extra kilos gained during all that indulgence so a post Diwali detox can be the best way to undo the toll taken by the festive season on system. So here are some self-detox tips:
Drink lots of water Water helps the body to metabolize toxins better and flush them out. Start the day by sipping a tall glass of lukewarm water with a few drops of lemon juice in it. Drink at least 10 glasses of water a day Exercise is must Controlling the diet alone won't help to lose those extra calories. As for the celebration we have skipped the exercise routine for more than 2 weeks but now the festive season has gone so go brisk walk or do yoga. Start with climbing office stairs, moving around and cycling is also a good option.
No more Sugar The must do step for detoxification is “Say no to sugar” for a week and by ‘No’ means, not even half a spoon as suggested by dietician. The healthy option to satisfy the sweet cravings is to opt for fruits which contain natural sugars also mix them with curd and enjoy it; it’s a lot like fresh cream and fruits. Healthy diet Following a strict diet plan doesn’t mean say no to meal, as skipping the meals can be harmful for the health Healthy diet plan leads to cutting back on the calories and not skipping the meals. Cut back the amount of oil in food. Don’t use butter or ghee on the rotis for some time. Instead of frying, try baked or grilled dishes, stay away from junk food. Incorporate healthy foods like freshly-squeezed orange juice, amla juice, milk and eggs into diet. The basic idea is to drink lots of water, exercise a little bit every day, eat healthy and avoid any junk food, it’s not going to be easy but it’ll be worth it in the end.
