Labor Guide

Introduction

Overview This labor pricing guide has been created to aid in assembling complete solutions and applying installation and programming labor SKUs necessary to implement them. Within this guide are diagrams with various product examples demonstrating their associated labor SKU descriptions and how they may be used within a solution. While this guide provides the CUS labor SKUs for the products included in a solution, labor for wire runs, TVs, and speaker installations should be added to the final solution labor cost as required.

How to Use This Labor Guide Assemble a product solution for the client. Before you begin, review the System Design Guidelines section to determine if this product group is right for the client. Locate the products within the Pricing Glossary section of this guide. Add the installation labor (CUS SKU). Replace the Tyler CUS SKU description with the part description being installed. Add a single PROGRAMMING line to the ticket for each area. Replace the Tyler PROGRAMMING description with what is being programmed or integrated into an area. Create an extended description for the area in Tyler by placing a Tilda (~) before the information entered in the programming description, this will create four additional fields that can be filled in with the required information. Submit the completed system proposal to your Field Supervisor for approval.

Product Overview

Overview Crestron Adagio serves up to 12 areas of music, controls lighting throughout your home, manages temperature with smart thermostats and provides full control of your home theater. This is the ultimate solution when ease of use is your primary goal.

Features The Adagio AES and AADS have built-in amplification for up-to 6 areas of music. Each system can be expanded to support up-to 12 rooms with the addition of an AAE 6-zone Expander Chassis. The AES has enough inputs for a total of up to 10 audio sources. This includes the fact that there are three built-in tuner slots. Each tuner slot supports dual AM/FM, XM or Sirius tuner cards (each tuner card takes 2 of the 10 inputs). The AADS has enough inputs for up to 4 audio sources. In addition to the internal tuners, there are two options which are dual AM/FM or single AM/FM/XM tuner versions. Add up to 2 Crestron iPod docks to provide full 2-way control of your iPods from Touchscreens or the LCD Keypad. Use the Crestron AAS Audio Server for the ultimate in hard drive based audio distribution. The ease of use of this system is without peer. The flexibility and scalability of this system is only surpassed by Creston's larger solution offerings which cost much more.

System Design Guidelines These guidelines are designed to achieve flawless design, installation and execution of Crestron Adagio systems: When integrating with a home theater, the home theater zone occupies one of the AESs or AADSs six areas. Always try to specify the same style of user interface throughout the home to ensure consistency and ease of use for your customer moving from area to area (ie: use touchscreens or LCD keypads in every area). Be aware there is a maximum of 9 touchscreens or LCD keypads total allowed in any Adagio system. As an exception; 12-Button keypads are a good choice in seldom used areas or where minimal control is needed. It is important to calculate the Cresnet and AC power requirements whenever designing an Adagio system. Per Tweeter’s power management guidelines, it is required to provide adequate surge protection and UPS battery backup for any device which is computer processor based, includes a hard drive, or operates via network. A Tweeter supplied network and a Broadband internet connection is required with all Crestron systems. This includes a network switch that is needed at the head end to support devices that utilize an Ethernet connection. Be sure to engage your Field Supervisor for support when considering lighting control or thermostats. Crestron Adagio Labor Guide v1 July 1, 2007 Page 4 of 31

Labor Guide

Application Guidelines

When designing a Crestron Adagio system there are some distinguishing features on each of the control processors that will determine which one would be the best solution. The AES and AADS have built-in amplification of 45W/ch RMS for up to 6 areas of music, but can be easily expanded up to 12 areas by adding an AAE. Both of the Adagio control processors power is 45W/ch RMS. Only one speaker can be connected per channel to ensure amplifier reliability. When choosing a control processor for an Adagio system it is a best practice to have 2 unused audio inputs for expandability for future sources. Always try to specify the same style of user interface throughout the home to ensure consistency and ease of use for your customer moving from area to area (ie: use touchscreens or LCD keypads in every area). As an exception; 12-button keypads are a good choice in seldom used areas or where minimal control is needed. Be aware there is a maximum of 9 touchscreens or LCD keypads total allowed in any Adagio system. That limit has been set by Crestron due to the limitations of the processor’s memory capabilities.

Controller Use an AES (Adagio Entertainment System) when a customer wants a distributed audio and video system, numerous sources and the ability to expand into lighting; climate control, and other automation devices.

The AES has enough inputs for a total of up to 10 audio sources. This includes the fact that there are three built-in tuner slots; each slot supports dual AM/FM, XM or Sirius tuner cards (each tuner card takes 2 of the 10 inputs). Adding video distribution to an AES system is easily done by adding a CNXPVID8X4 or CNXPVID8X3. On an AES it is recommended for home theater control to add a CNXRMC for local IR/serial control, if the Home Theater equipment is remotely located. When using speakers which require more power, such as outdoor rock speakers, add an external amplifier using the pre-amp audio outputs. Optional accessories: RMK5U – 5-Space rack mount shelf. Use an AADS (Adagio Audio Distribution System) when a customer wants just distributed audio throughout their home, a limited amount of sources and still have the ability to expand into lighting, climate and other automation devices.

Thermostats Installation of HVAC Thermostats is an advanced operation. Field Supervisors must pre-qualify and approve prior to proposal. In some cases it will be necessary to ask the customer to engage their HVAC contractor to handle the installation and integration with the HVAC system. Always consult with your Field Supervisor. Add this thermostat when control of both the temperature and humidity settings of a zone of an HVAC system is desired.

CHVTHSTAT Thermostat with Humidity Control

Heating/Cooling and Humidity Thermostat. A maximum of 3 thermostats may be used in an Adagio system. Requires 1 watt of Cresnet power. The CHVTHSTAT accepts up to 4 CHVRTS, 2 CHVRTHS, or a combination of 1 CHVRTHS and 2 CHVRTS remote sensors. Available in white, black or almond. All Crestron thermostats require 2 CUSWIRERUNs (1 from the AES or AADS and 1 from the HVAC system). Recommended System wiring: CRESNETNP or LLINXU (1 Cresnet cable). Other cables are required to support the HVAC connections as well as 24VAC requirements. Add this thermostat when control of the temperature settings of a zone of an HVAC system is desired.

Engraving Procedure and Example

Tweeter Engraving Procedure Crestron engraving requires the following steps to ensure the order is processed correctly. 1. Use Crestron Engraver software to create the layout of the Crestron product as defined by customer. 2. DO NOT email the file that engraver creates to Crestron directly. 3. Email the file to the Purchasing department at “.SPECIALORDERS”. The PO needs to match the engraving file (and the ticket), so it has to go through Purchasing before being sent to Crestron. 4. The Purchasing department will attach the engraving file to the PO. This ensures you get exactly what you need for the job. 5. The Tyler ticket needs to match the engraving file. 6. The price sheet for custom buttons and engravings can be found on ‘The Wire.’ Note: Lead time is a minimum of 1 week on all custom buttons and engravings.

TPS4L Faceplate Engraved The TPS4L comes with a blank faceplate. By following the Tweeter engraving procedure above will allow the salesperson to request a custom engraved faceplate. The configuration below is an example of a touchpanel button layout (AUDIO, LIGHTS, TEMP, FAVORITES, ROOM OFF, MUTE, <, >, VOL +, VOL -). The TPS4L is available in black or white.
