The Marriage Game From the moment Elizabeth I became Queen, there was one question that everyone was asking – who will the Queen marry? Most people believed it would be one of the first things Elizabeth would do. They expected her to select a husband to help her run her country, and more importantly, to get her pregnant so that there would be an heir to succeed her. Elizabeth was young and there were high hopes that soon England would have a royal family again.
