D

id you know that Samsung offers extensive support for customers on all our products via our website? We have extensive how-to guides, manuals, videos, updates, online chat and FAQs to help you solve a problem or learn more about how to use your product, whenever you need us.

You may be setting up your new phone after returning from the store, and you want to know if there is an easy way to transfer all your contacts and photos from your old phone to the new one. No problem, our support service can help.

Or you may be security-conscious and are looking to add a screen lock to your Galaxy S5 phone, in case you misplace it somewhere and want to keep your messages and contacts safe. But unfortunately you are out and about and the user manual isn’t to hand, so you’re unsure how to activate this function. Don’t worry, we can help you with this too. Luckily, we keep a record of all our customer queries so we can help you find the most frequently asked questions, and more importantly the answers! Here are a collection of the big three most frequently asked questions you have asked about Samsung Galaxy devices - perhaps your question is answered here…

1

How do I take screenshots on my Samsung Galaxy?

You know when you receive a hilarious Snapchat and you have to share it with your friends? Simple - use the take screenshot function, but be quick before it disappears! There are two ways you can capture that funny moment.

PREFER USING BUTTONS? To capture a screenshot press and hold the Home key and the Power key simultaneously. The screenshot will be copied to the clipboard and saved to the Screenshots folder in the Gallery app.

More of a Swiper? Capture a screenshot by touching the screen with the side of your hand and swiping across from left to right or vice versa. The screenshot is copied to the clipboard and saved in the Screenshots folder in Gallery. (Needs to be setup first - Settings > Motion and Gestures > Palm Swipe) 5

What do the flashing lights mean on my Samsung Galaxy? As you may have noticed, there is an LED light indicator in the top-left corner of your Galaxy phone. This is a neat little feature helps your phone to communicate and serves a few functions. But what do the colours mean I hear you ask? We’ve created a handy cheat sheet below: Pulses in multi-tone blue while the device is turning on or off. Blinks blue for a missed call, message or other notification. Blinks blue when you are recording a voice. Glows red when the device is connected to a charger and is charging. Blinks red when there is a problem with charging. Blinks red when the battery is low. Glows green when the device is connected to a charger and the battery is fully charged. Blinking green indicates the battery is fully charged. To edit what LED notifications you receive: Tap Apps > Settings > Display Settings > LED indicator

How do I connect my Samsung Galaxy S5 to my TV with an HDMI cable? Say you want to share that video you can’t stop playing on your phone, with your friends in the living room… Or you want to play a game on the big screen and finally defeat that end of level boss. Well you can do both by connecting your TV to your phone using an HDMI cable. An HDMI cable will transfer your phone screen direct to your TV, in stunning HD quality. So any photos, videos or games you love playing on your phone can now be enjoyed on the big screen too. Simply follow these steps to begin visual nirvana: (Before you start, you do need a HDMI cable, sold separately). 1. Connect HDMI cable into the HDTV adapter 2. Connect the other end to the HDMI port on your TV 3. Ensure your TV input settings have the right HDMI port selected. 4. Connect your travel charger to the HDTV adapter and then to a power source. 5. TOP TIPS FOR PROFESSIONALS USING

Galaxy NOTE 4 Discerning professionals, always on the run and in meetings, struggling with reports, deadlines, multiple tasks and definitely being on top of the business at all times. If you are one of them, you may spot a missing piece in this puzzle. The Personal Assistant that plans it all, takes notes, sends emails, does the

writing and editing, keeps your agenda and hopefully fits in your pocket so it can follow you everywhere... The Galaxy Note 4 precisely fits the profile. Maybe the one thing it doesn’t do for you is serve your coffee, but it does compensate with a lot of other features and functions that will keep you ahead of the game. Just have a quick look below and think how often you find yourself in any of these situations.

Can’t give up the habit of writing by hand… Are you running late for a meeting and you want to find the address on Google Maps? Action Memo saves time and energy by turning your hand written memos into actionable links like: calls, new contacts, to do’s or emails, web or location, search and tasks. Without using any paper at all… 1. Activate the Air Command Menu by holding the S pen a few millimetres above the screen and pressing S Pen’s button. 2. Select Action memo (the first option on the far left of the Air command tools) and a note will pop up on the screen. 3. Write the number and the name of the contact by tapping the circle and select the phonebook icon in order to save the contact. 13

The one thing it doesn’t do for you is serve your coffee, but it does compensate with a lot of other features and functions that will

keep you ahead of the game. 14

PLAN YOUR SCHEDULES ON THE GO You are out of the office running to catch a train, or late for a meeting and there is just one more appointment you forgot to set in your calendar. Easy Input will be able to help you by just using the S Pen of your Note 4. Just tap and drag the pen across the day you want to select while pressing the pen button. Then input the event, add detail information by tapping the add details icon and finally tap the Save button.

Email back callers by using full Caller Information You’re just heading out of the office door when your manager calls you to send the sales report over, that you have saved on your device. So you quickly transfer it to your Note 4 and check it as you leave the office. By the time you are in the taxi to your next meeting, you will be able to forward it by email by using the Caller Information function which gives you quick access and usage of all contact information from your contact history. Simply enter the Dial app and tap Settings, then Calls and lastly Show Caller Information. The phone number and email address are ready to be used with other phone applications so you can send the report. Time was saved, deadline was met.

Keep accurate meeting minutes. Paper free, hassle-free The Meeting Mode of the Voice Recording app will help you in all those situations when you have a meeting at the office with various participants from different departments. Note 4 has a high quality microphone and the ability to detect from where the voices are coming from and clearly capture them. Open the Voice Recording app, tap the microphone icon and select meeting as the mode to specify that voices will be around the room. When the meeting starts press REC. Please note: always ask for permission first from those present before recording.

Take notes but skip typing. Never write a post-it again by using Photo Note The Note 4 has a high quality and clear capture digital camera to help you add virtual post-its to your S-Note app. To do this just make an ’S-Note’ by entering the S-Note app and tapping the “+” symbol. Then instead of a normal note, press the camera icon and change the setting from auto to manual with a single tap and take a photo of the post it by simply tapping the camera button, just like a common photo. You will have all your notes saved in one place.

HOW CAN I GET MY PHONE TO

LAST ALL WEEKEND? When we are sat at our desks or at home relaxing, we’re never far from a phone charger and battery life is hardly a concern. But when we’re out and about, our phone becomes essential to staying in touch with friends, sharing photos on social networks or finding new and exciting places to visit. So it’s important to make that battery last a little longer when a charging point isn’t available. But luckily there are a few things you can do to help get a bit more juice when you’re out this weekend…

20

Quick Tips To Extend Battery Life 1) Turn off connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS (also known as Location) if not in current use. 2) Uninstall any free apps you no longer want that deliver advertisements. 3) Lower the screen brightness (or set it to “Automatic Brightness) and adjust your screen timeout setting to a lower value to automatically turn off the display more quickly when the device is not in use.

Ultra Power Saving Mode For Phone Addicts Newer Samsung devices such as the Galaxy S5, Note 4 and Alpha are equipped with an Ultra Power saving mode feature which manages your battery use for you. It does this by displaying colours on the screen as grey tones, restrict some apps and data connection, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when the screen turns off. To enable Ultra Power Saving mode Open Apps > Settings > Power Saving > Ultra Power Saving Mode > Swipe to activate

CHARGING A FLAT BATTERY If you have completely used all the power in your battery playing games, it may take at least 5 to 10 minutes after connecting your charger for enough power to be built up to start the charging indicator shown on your device. If you are a mobile gamer or find yourself with a completely flat battery, we recommend using the charging adaptor provided and not a USB cable connected via PC for quicker and more effective charging.

Most issues can be resolved by JUST updating Software!

1

Update your Samsung easily: Tap Settings > About Device > Software update

Enter Safe Mode check if it is A 3rd party application

2 3

With the device off, press and hold the power key. When the boot screen appears: Tap the Recent Apps key repeatedly until the device boots up (for devices older than S4: tap menu button). Safe mode will be displayed in the left bottom corner of the screen. If the symptoms disappear while using the device in Safe Mode, the problem is likely to be caused by a 3rd party application. Simply restart your device to exit Safe Mode and uninstall the most recent application you have downloaded and retry you phone. Repeat above steps if necessary till you have uninstalled the app causing the difficulties.

The last thing you can do is RESTORE ‘Factory SettingS’ If the problems still persists then do a factory reset. Note: Doing a factory reset will erase all data from the device so please make sure your Galaxy is backed up first before trying a Factory reset

1

Always connect TO Internet via Smart network switch Use this feature to maintain a stable Internet connection when you browse web pages, download content or more. Settings > Wi-Fi > Smart network switch Note: The device automatically switches from a Wi-Fi network to a mobile network when the current Wi-Fi network is weak or unavailable. Please note: This may increase your Mobile Network data usage.
