AQUATIC CENTER Lormont - France Profs. S. Hirshberger, H. Saladin
p. 4-5
From my first visit to the site, I was attracted by the top of the hill right next to the Aquitaine Bridge. This site benefits not only from the greenery of the prominent hill, but also from its privileged views of the bridge and its spectacular structure ; of the panorama of Bordeaux and the Garonne river ; of the industrial area and the new housing projects on the other side of the bridge

The project is very compact in order to limit its impact on the site, and in order to maximize its integration with the latter. Therefore, I buried into the hillside all of t h e c h a n g i n g r o o m s a n d e q u i p ment rooms, which do not require special visual relationship with the outside. These premises are under the main platform which connects the aquatic center and restaurant, in the continuity of the top of the hill.

The project’s main space, the lobby of the basins, is free of any structure on the ground thanks to the slight tense roof. It is very “transparent” to benefit from a fusional relationship with the nature that surrounds it, but also from the spectacular view of the bridge (basic intent). It is extended by an outdoor area with these same qualities.

The sail i ng school I imagined first seeks to be compact, to economize on material s , but al s o in order to minimize its impact on the site along the l a ke. In addition, the project is part of an ecol o gical approach (fl o w management, orientation, water harvesting, sol a r panel s , material s ). The vol ume of the buil ding is the resul t of a modul e’s search, and its appl ic ation to form the various functions of the school . The modul e varies in term of size but not of shape. A central glassed area, with a double height is used to connect the different parts of the sc hool. The latter inc ludes vertic al circulation, with a panoramic el e vator.

The initial project intentions were to place the sports equipments and techniques on the ground floor (changing rooms, sheds, refectory and technical rooms). Indeed, these elements require direct access to the outside and this optimizes routes and daily cleaning. Also, I wanted the “earth” room to occupy a prominent place within the school, on the first floor, with a lakeview terace. Finally, a housing part on the top level, independent, but also enjoying a panoramic view over the lake. The wood which is the main material of the project, provides thermal comfort and meets the requirements in terms of spans and heights. Specifically, I chose a system in Kerto (prefabricated panels) for the entire building frame and a wood / concrete (nailed laminated) for floors. The Kerto’s made structure is self-supporting, and therefore is selfsufficient as regards the support for the upper floors.

URBAN DESIGN Lisbon - Portugal
Prof. L. Alfonso
LISBON
This project comes to requalify a wasteland in the heart of Lisbon, in the district of Campolide. It is intended to combine various functions : housing, offices, cultural center, ... The site is located on sloping ground, with a height differential of about 12 meters from one end of the parcel the other. As a consequence, I worked on a system of trays, with a chain of green spaces through which the buildings weave. In the southern part of the parcel, an area bordered by a major cultural center can host various events such as exhibitions, concerts, markets, ... The northern part of the project has subsequently been intensified (typology of buildings, traffic, access, relationship to urban space, blocks’s treatment).

COLLECTIVE HOUSING Hondarrabia - Spain Prof. A. Pool
HONDARRABIA
This work on collective housing is part of an urban redevelopment project, at the foot of the citadel of Hondarribia, in Spain. Upon initial contact with the site, I could not imagine imposing the housing project in the heart of the parcel, because of its agricultural function and its lack of constructability. So I wanted to create a base along the site, providing continuity with the rest of the city, including the extension of the new public space at the foot of the citadel, thereby creating a main axis for the rest of the project.

PLAN RDC
PLAN R+1
The building I worked on includes two openings (on three levels) in order to provide access for the road arriving from Hondarribia, and to create a unique perspective of the Citadel from the major public space. These openings allow the three first levels to “float under the last level which ends the building.

A HOUSE FOR 3 GENERATIONS
Bordeaux - France Prof. J. Brodeur
p. 22-23
Located in the heart of the Chartrons neighborhood in Bordeaux, t h i s h ou se h a s th e d i sti n c ti on of ho s ting three ge nerations of one family . It combines independent living and ‘community living’. The constraint of a long and narrow place led me to work in double-exposure, with a garden on each side. In addition, in order to enjoy the maximum amount of light while preserving the privacy of residents, I installed a translucent glass screen along the facade facing the street to the south. Each generation of the family has a space that is dedicated to it, although the project’s goal is also to gather everyone in common areas at the ground floor (minimum partitioning, open kitchen, bar, ... ). CONCERT-CAFE JAZZ
Bordeaux - France Prof. J. Brodeur
Located in the heart of the Chartrons neighborhood in Bordeaux, this concertcafé revives an abandoned place. It retains the typical facade of stone craftsmanship of the parcel, in order to combine modernity and the history of its host walls. Centered on jazz music, this place will regularly offer residents concerts at the ground floor, but will also feature permanent exhibitions devoted to jazz, its history and its musicians in the upper levels of the building. The architecture is “open”, allowing sound to occupy the entire space of the concert-café.

TOWARD LIGHT
Architectural space study Prof. Y. Ballot
During my first year at school, I began to explore the specificity of architecture by working on the design of singular spaces, with models, and different themes : the wall, the enclosure, the covering, the circulation, the partition. These exercises without context allowed me to understand the materiality of limits and the ability to generate the space, the notion of living space and the complexity of the relationship between the outside and the inside.

This project is a work on space and light inspired by a literary genre. I chose Charles Baudelaire’s poem “Correspondences”, which analyzes the means to establish communication between the earthly world and the heavenly world. The poet uses the vertical but also horizontal correspondences between different sensations. In my project, I tried to work with those 2 types of correspondences. The entire project encompasses, on the one hand, very dark areas (low-angled light, soft, reflective) intended for meditation and, on the other hand, very bright areas (direct overhead light) dedicated to movement between levels, and reading activities. In addition, the orientation of the project allows an evolution of the atmosphere in different spaces throughout the day.

During my internship, I worked primarily on a rehabilitation project. It concerned the design of the facade of a fine wine and spirit’s store : Scheider’s in the center of Whashington DC. First a had to make a study of the neighbourhood (global and small scale). Then I had to measure and draw the existing on the computer and I worked on the project with Rauzia and Gregory, the architects of the studio.
The owners of the store asked for something «modern». Rauzia and Gregory began to sketch something. I listened to their ideas, and I tried to represent the new store with 3D views. There was an important element in the program : all the facades of the store had to be blind not to damage the wine with the sunlight.
I ntern shi p at Scomoco ’s a r chi tecture stud io Washington D.C. - USA with Rauzia Ruhana Ally, architect
The shop on Capitol Hill district
The first idea was to use big corten steel sheets, to cover the store. Indeed, Rauzia and Gregory love this material and use to use it in their projects. We also worked on a second proposal, more “classical.
