Fall 2015 | Parks Make Life Better!
Message from the Director F
all is a beautiful time of the year in San Carlos as the trees burst with color and the rainy season approaches, hopefully. It also is a great time to experience the wonderful network of community and neighborhood parks, natural areas, hiking trails and facilities available in San Carlos. The City Council continues to reinvest in the community with an extensive remodeling of the Adult Community Center, a new off-leash dog exercise area at City Hall Park and other park and trail rehabilitation. The Parks and Recreation Department works hard to ensure these projects serve a wide range of groups from our toddler-aged residents to the elderly community and everyone in between. The City staff is committed to enhancing the quality of life in San Carlos by providing a variety of programs that cater to the interests of our residents. Whether it is adult or youth sports, senior programs or the wholesome afterschool program at our versatile Youth Center, every San Carlos resident will find an enjoyable pursuit in the pages of this guide. I hope you get the opportunity to participate in one or more of the activities provide by the City and continue to enjoy the City of Good Living. Christine D. Boland, Director Parks & Recreation Department

Students of the arts learn to think creatively and solve problems. Dance helps children mature physically, emotionally, and socially. Skill Sessions take place on Sundays for players who wish to brush up on fundamentals during the off season. During the session players will develop their offensive, defensive and game time skills. We understand many players move on to play basketball, soccer and other sports this time of year but still want to keep their baseball IQ intact. The short clinic is a fun and exciting way for players to refresh their memories on any tips and tricks they received during the Summer Camp Season. Skill Sessions are a good fit for players new to the game looking to establish the basics, but also advanced players trying to take their game to the next level. Coaches teach with enthusiasm and passion and new and exciting aspects of the game are covered each session with an emphasis on teamwork. Working together towards a common goal is a constant theme not only during Skill Sessions but is found in any T-Sports environment. We believe that in order for a player to excel individually, that player must first excel as a member of the team! Strong is the new Skinny!! Achieve your fitness goals with this military inspired circuit workout. Calisthenics and training drills develop strength, stamina and agility. The body hates change! It would much rather do the same thing every minute of every day. We have news for you…when you do the same exercise routine day in and day out you stop seeing results or “plateau.” We utilize the principle of muscle confusion. You will NEVER do the same workout twice in a row! Why is this essential? Because your body will be forced to adapt and you will never plateau! You will get results and they will come quickly and continue to come…month after month after month! Time efficient training is our goal. Any specific problems you are having will be addressed and cured in class or by a lifestyle change at home. Intermediate: This class will instruct students in off-leash control. This is done with the addition of a 30 foot long line. You will need a 6 foot leather leash for both classes.
