Recreation classes for little ones offer many benefits. Early exposure to music helps develop areas of the brain that involve language and reasoning. Students of the arts learn to think creatively and solve problems. Dance helps children mature physically, emotionally, and socially. Sports will build motor skills, teach responsibility and teamwork, and encourage a healthy lifestyle. Kids that are active are more likely to continue being active as they get older. Baby Sign Language Introductory Workshop (Ages 18+ yrs)

Dog Obedience (Ages 18+ yrs)

Stop guessing what your baby is trying to tell you and start spending more time fulfilling your child’s specific needs. Baby Sign Language gives parents the opportunity to communicate with babies long before they can verbalize their wants and needs. Signing with babies accelerates language development, reduces frustration, and deepens the bond between parent and child. This workshop is based on American Sign Language (ASL) and is designed for parents with babies who range in age from birth to 18 months. Fun activities and songs will show you how easy it can be to integrate baby signs into your daily routine and jump-start your child’s verbal skills. Babies are welcome but not required to attend. $5 materials fee is payable to instructor at class. For more information visit www.TouchBlueSky.com. Beginning: In this class your dog is taught sit, down, stay, come, heel and easy (walking nicely at the end of the leash without pulling). The dog is taught to move freely and easily with the collar, so one day you barely have to use it. The dog is also taught to perform things and to willingly do or not do things, not just be prevented from doing them. Verbal and/or physical praise from owner is given which builds a relationship between owner and dog. Any specific problems you are having will be addressed and cured in class or by a lifestyle change at home. Intermediate: This class will instruct students in off-leash control. This is done with the addition of a 30 foot long line. You will need a 6 foot leather leash for both classes. ALL dogs must have current rabies/distemper vaccinations and be a minimum of 4 months old. Special nylon choke collar included in fee. Children 11 years and up are welcome to attend class with a registered parent. Instructor: Paige Tyson, (209) 532-6269, for class content questions Fee: $96R/$114NR – 6 classes Tu

Senior exercise is an important part of the health and wellness of seniors. It helps increase your metabolism, energy levels and alertness. Research shows that those suffering from chronic illness benefit from exercise even if it is done while sitting in a chair. Chair exercises are great for older adults, those with disabilities, poor balance or anyone who has trouble standing or getting on the floor to do exercises. They are always gentle on the body and generally safe for most people to do. It is always a good idea to talk to your doctor before beginning a new exercise program, but you are not likely to injure yourself doing any of these exercises. Bring a 5 lb. dumbbell weight with you to the first class. Be sure to wear loose clothing and comfortable, supportive shoes. No cost. M/W/F 9:15-10:15am Ongoing ACC
