What is InspiringYou all about? As I was growing up the people that inspired
me, were people I could relate to. Everyday people, like you and me.
I think its still the same today, no matter what
your age, when you hear about someone local, someone close by that is inspiring and continues to be, that raises your self belief,
Sandra Pollock Founder of Inspiring You
your motivation and helps you to realise that you can make a difference to the world around you too.
The news is filled with all the negative information, as the media thinks that this alone is what sells, but I have a different view.
I believe and have seen it time and again, that
sharing the exploits of inspirational people from all age groups, cultures, gender, business
or community, brings with it far more positivity, stimulus and encouragement for all of us.
“I’ve long had a passion and a vision to find everyday people who are doing amazing things and bring them to the recognition of the wider community.”
Inspiring You not only does this, but also brings together individuals who have been nominated by their peers as inspiring and helps us all to learn about them and celebrate their achievements.
4 and This is a unique and amazing venture
we’ve already seem some wonderful outcomes.

Inspiring You Celebrations In January 2015 we held our pilot Inspiring You Celebration event which coincided with the birthday of founder Sandra Pollock. This event was so well received that we went ahead with the official launch event on 19th June 2015, which was held in Leicester at the Hansom Hall, Belvoir Street. Many of the guests are involved in projects, programmes and businesses worldwide. Guests heard inspiring stories of how people’s lives are being changed, dreams achieved and relationships forged that have lasting and life changing impact. Porsche Dyno Day
By Mike Pollock
Put a group of various 944 on the Dyno and write an article about it. Well, that was the general idea put to the forum from 911 & Porsche World through one of our guests, “Lemon” or Lee as he is alternatively known. Where and when was agreed – eventually – and various names put down but surprise, surprise initially they all appeared to be “Modified Turbos”! A couple of S2’s joined the list, but it still wasn’t exactly representative of the 944 as a breed and as I was feeling rather pleased with myself after changing the engine of my 1983 2.5 I said I’d bring mine along to uphold the sane end of the 944 spectrum! Any way the day approached, I changed the distributor cap, rotor arm, plugs and air filter and as a special treat, I went and filled up with Shell 99RON fuel. The Dyno chosen was Dyno Demons on the Wirral, over 2 hours travelling for me, and as I’ve had no experience of this sort of thing before I was rather nervous! I woke at 4:00, couldn’t get back to sleep so ended up leaving about 6:00 to get there for 9:00 thinking I’d have a power nap somewhere along the way. I stopped and noticed a puddle of coolant under the car! I decided to carry on steadily and got to Dyno Demons early creating another puddle there, in the early morning sunshine. I considered the possibility of head gasket failure, and so no run on the Dyno! Steve and the rest of his staff duly arrived and got the dyno and more importantly, the kettle, sorted. Lee soon arrived and others followed, including a strange thing called “the Beetle” apparently a guest . Nick put his 964 on first and recorded a very respectable 293bhp. Mean while bacon butties had been collected and devoured. My coolant was checked for combustion products with negative results but the cap was noted as being less than perfect and a new one ordered, delivered and fitted in less than an hour! The cars were expertly run up on the Dyno Dynamics machine very efficiently by Steve, who after each car was tested , gave the owner a de-brief of what the lines on the graph meant and pointed out the good bits and the bad, along with what it all meant for each engine’s health. For me this was really useful as I have a 1986 engine running with a 1983 engine management system. There 15topping out were several changes for the 1986 model, so for Steve to show me mine has a flat torque curve and smooth power one at 148bhp, and only running a little rich (safe) was great.
Most of the guys there were club members, some of whom I’ve met before and it was fun chatting to such enthusiasts. There were 4 Turbos, all modified to a greater or lesser extent, producing 269 to 315bhp (well done Tony), 3 S2s (1 slightly modified ) 175 to 204bhp, my very basic 2.5 and Nicks “Beetle”. One or two of the cars were not producing to their potential and Steve was again helpful in showing where and often why this was the case.?
Most of us went in convoy to a lovely little country pub a few miles away. Well chosen, Lee. The pub looked very small from the outside and as the last car of the convoy, I was sure there wouldn’t be room for us all to park. I was wrong, we all lined up neatly down the centre of the large car park.
Food and drink was purchased and we sat outside in glorious early autumnal sunshine, continuing our earlier conversations, with added bits from the mornings results.
The forum has since been busy with more discussions in this area!
Tony, beside producing the highest figures also produced a clever mixture of white and black smoke, but was eclipsed in this competition by the last run of the day. By this time ears were becoming sore and after arranging the cars for a photoshoot for 911 & Porsche World.
Thanks to Lee Hardy for organising the day and the weather and to all the guys, some of whom travelled from London and the South Coast for the day.

PUT TYPE 2 DIABETES INTO REMISSION WITH WEIGHT LOSS
There are many different of types of diabetes but Type 2 diabetes is the most common. It develops when the body either fails to produce enough insulin or fails to remove all of the glucose in the blood effectively. More than 700 people a day in the UK are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and every year 24,000 people die prematurely. If left unchecked it can lead to heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney failure and limb amputations. The increase in Type 2 diabetes mirrors a rise in obesity with around 90% of those diagnosed deemed overweight. Studies also show people battling the condition find it twice as hard to lose weight. However, even a relatively small amount of weight loss can prevent the onset of diabetes, or help people better manage their symptoms.
Having had a family history of Type 2 Diabetes and becoming diabetic through pregnancy – gestational diabetes, I have made sure that I manage my weight in order to keep it at bay. It is important to be fit, eat well and regularly and drink water throughout the day. Habits such as good sleep and eating more vegetables does help in it`s management. From experience, I know that it is easy to think the condition is being managed by medication however if you consider eating high carbohydrates because of the fear of low blood sugar and taking in refined sugar in this way, this may not help matters for you.” The work of Diabetes UK, who are currently funding research into the relationship between weight loss and the reversal of Type 2 Diabetes, to establish whether VLCDs ( very low calorie diets ) could help put Type 2 Diabetes in to remission. If the results are repeated on a larger scale this could lead to huge changes in the way that Type 2 diabetes is managed by the NHS.
Sanjaya, Leicester`s award winning weight management consultant is passionate about helping people improve their health and quality of life and has invested her time, guidance and advise for 10 years to the people of Leicester. Her focus continues in encouraging weight loss, if needed, as a way forward for Type 2 diabetics.
Furthermore, The International Diabetes Federation is currently campaigning for strengthened research to examine direct links between diabetes and sugar. According to the latest data from the IDF, diabetes is anticipated to affect 592 million people by 2035, a 53% increase on existing cases. Backing for this research could lead to huge changes in UK legislation and transform how the NHS approaches Type 2 diabetes in the future.
She says “losing excess weight is important for Type 2 Diabetics that need it, however without changing behaviour and lifestyle it can return, so I work with clients to change their attitude towards their self- care and health, using proven principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Coaching.
If you are overweight and are worried that you are putting yourself at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, or have already been diagnosed and want to improve your condition by losing weight - Sanjaya can help.
