Planting seeds equates to germinating freedom

Germinating cannabis seeds has many more advantages than using cuttings. First of all, it is possible to choose from a large number of strains and ensure that they are free of pests and diseases. Another important advantage is that cuttings only have secondary roots, while seeds develop a main root that forms much stronger and more solid plants.
Interestingly enough, the data sheet of each strain tells us about the genetic qualities of each plant, meaning that each strain has been intended to cater for different needs and tastes. First of all, most of the strains presented are feminised, which obviates the need to remove males. In addition, alongside the conventional photodependent plants, whose flowering is determined by the hours of light (known as ‘photoperiod’), nowadays consumers are offered a wide choice of autoflowering plants, which flower according to their age, without depending on the photoperiod. Plants of different heights and flowering times can be chosen, which will result in differing yields and harvest times. Another interesting difference is plant colouring, i.e., besides the traditional green, bluish, red, garnet or black tones are also available. Finally, there are cannabis plants for sunny climates, for humid climates or for indoor cultivation.
The greatest pleasure comes at the time of tasting the final product, with flavours and aromas that differentiate depending on a wide range of terpenes, i.e. sweet, sour, earthy, petrol-like, milky, smoky, spicy or incensey. There also are many nuances such as lemon,
moss, herbal, red berries, mango, sorbet, papaya, candy, menthol, floral, pepper or lavender. Likewise, the effects are very varied, i.e. happy, energetic, mental, meditative, relaxing, creative, sedative, balanced, psychedelic or lucid.
To germinate cannabis, growers only need mild heat, humidity and darkness. Ideally, the growing medium should be moist, but not soggy to ensure its oxygenation. Seeds can be pre-germinated in water, between wet tissue paper or planted directly into the substrate. It is also possible to use cubes of different materials, from rockwool through peat to coconut coir.
