We pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of America’s entry into World War I on April 2, 1917, with a series of WWI book discussions and programs this fall Remembering World War I. We also celebrate the important role that public libraries made to the war service. During WWI, the American Library Association organized fund drives and book donation drives, facilitated with the help of local libraries, to provide reading material to active servicemen in the United States and to establish library collections for American servicemen abroad. Sandusky Library owns several posters made popular in the days of this national campaign for book donations, stating Books wanted for our men in camp and “over there” – Take your gifts to the public library and Knowledge wins – Public library books are FREE. Sandusky Library welcomes Jeremy Angstadt as its new Museum Services Manager. Jeremy will join the Library’s team on September 1 as Manager of the Follett House Museum. Jeremy will work in Reference Services at the Library as well as at the Museum. Jeremy holds a Master of Arts in History, Concentration Public History, from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. Jeremy has recently worked as an interpretive aide at Slate Run Living Historical Farm in Ohio, and he has worked at Valley Forge National Historical Park in Pennsylvania. Many senior citizens are unaware of the various individual plans being offered beyond Medicare Parts A & B, and the Part D prescription drug coverage, which often causes much confusion. Wednesday, October 18, at 12:00 p.m. Susan Talbot-Stanaway, retired Director of the Zanesville Museum of Art During the “Great War” at home, in community organizations, on the farm, and in the workplace, Ohioans were exposed to new roles, new beliefs, and a new sense of national unity. Young and old were urged to support the families of soldiers, purchase war bonds and stamps, undergo the hardships of rationing, and report spies. This program will discuss how Ohioans’ participation shaped important social and political changes.

Rezek was an avid photographer with his Kodak vest pocket camera, which along with his diary and photo comments thoroughly enriches a story that shows that a soldier in the lowest grade, determined to provide his all, can make a difference.

Music, art and the technological magic of iLuminate (pronounced eye-luminate) brings you a story of adventure and romance told through dance styles ranging from contemporary, hip-hop, Latin, and break dancing, all using the power of light. With a mash-up of dazzling wizardry, spectacular dance moves, high-tech effects, and original music, iLuminate delivers this unique in-thedark event not to be missed. iLuminate’s patent-pending technology has been used in numerous performances by Grammy-winning superstars such as Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera, The Black Eyed Peas, and David Guetta, among others. It has also been featured on hit television shows including America’s Got Talent and Dancing with the Stars, as well as such awards shows as American Music Awards, MTV’s Video Music Awards, BET Awards, and The Nickelodeon Awards.
