Exceptional exhibitions and installations fill the historic rooms of the Armory. Be sure to visit our partners’ breathtaking creations which are housed along the building’s front halls.

Library Apparatus is a Manhattan based design studio that explores lighting, furniture, and objects in immersive environments, interpreting the historical and the cultural through a modern lens. Drawing on a vocabulary of desire, Creative Director Gabriel Hendifar constructs the studio’s work in narratives. The studio is an everevolving articulation of considered spaces and the things that live within them, inspired by the modernist principle of Gesamtkunstwer k, a total work of art.

Entrance to Drill Hall Pollaro creates hand-made custom furniture for residences, superyachts, corporate suites, boutique hotels, and retail interiors. They produce the finest chairs in the world, tailoring each seat to the exact body dimensions of their clients. For over 30 years, they have served the most renowned firms in the global design and architecture community. Pollaro’s furniture is produced in their own workshop, with all operations at one location in New Jersey. Each piece is made entirely by hand, with extreme attention to detail. Wood Theater, which dramatically presents the world’s largest private collection of exotic woods, is a delight to the senses. Pollaro is guided by a single philosophy: To elevate furniture to become art that is soulful and immaculately designed; art that celebrates extraordinary materials. Art made by the warmth of hand and heart.

Parlor Lalique partners with British wall covering atelier Fromental to create an installation celebrating the iconic motifs of the French heritage brand. Walls will be lined with varying themes, each telling a story leading the visitor through fountains to a laurel grove decorated with Lalique Bacchantes figures. The concept is lush, bright and heavily influenced by the three F’s that define the Lalique brand: femme, flora and fauna. The installation includes classic Lalique creations; the Cactus console, the Coutard panels, the Laurel panels, and the introduction of a new lighting collection–a collaboration with renowned designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. In the installation is the US debut of the ‘Hirondelles’ wallpaper, a stunning handcrafted silk wall covering which has been expertly hand painted and finely embroidered by Fromental master craftspeople to cleverly incorporate Lalique crystal

Colonels Room At the forefront of the international design scene, Mathieu Lehanneur is one of the few designers of his generation with a genuine multi-disciplinary approach to creativity: his projects stretch the realms of product design and object to architecture, craft and technology. Lehanneur thrives on creating spectacular projects that are intended to enchant and to encourage wellbeing. His work defies traditional descriptions of ‘design,’ ‘science’ and ‘art.’

Designed for Living Well—A Conversation with Visionaries from The XI Friday, November 15, 2pm Dorothée Boissier of Gilles & Boissier, Neil Jacobs, CEO Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, and Adam Rolston, Creative & Managing Director, Partner at INC Architecture & Design in conversation about great interior design, health & wellness, and travel today.

Collecting Fine Jewelry in a Sustainable World Saturday, November 16, 1pm A conversation around jewelry collecting in the 21st century and beyond. Currently, many collectors are holding items, such as ivory and coral that are shunned in the market. The extraction of these materials is not sustainable and harms our environment; therefore, they are not in high demand. The future of jewelry collecting is sustainable, natural, non-synthetic, ethereal, and respectful both to the environment and the people sourcing it. This conversation brings together like-minded fine jewelry professionals, who can act as a concrete resource to collectors looking for guidance in the art of collecting jewelry. As insiders in this field the goal is to promote the best artisanal practices this industry has to offer.

Art of Living—Designing for Collectors Saturday, November 16, 3:30pm Integrating interior design, fine art, and collectible design is a challenge today, as the lines between these disciplines grow less distinct. Design journalist Pilar Viladas and three leaders in the design field will discuss the ways in which designers create interiors for collectors of art and design, and how designers approach creating one-off and limited-edition objects that appeal to collectors. At a time when the lines between art and design are becoming increasingly blurred, the topic is a timely one.

Material Affects—A Conversation with Mathieu Lehanneur and William Hanley, Editor in Chief of Dwell magazine Sunday, November 17, 2pm The Paris-based designer is known for work that defies easy interpretation by evoking mysterious or cosmic forces and enacting tricks of perception that give his objects a sense of playful ambiguity. At Salon, William Hanley and Mathieu Lehanneur discuss perception, magic, and play in Mathieu’s recent work, including his installation “Soldier’s Retreat,” which plays off of its location in the Colonels Room at Park Avenue Armory. “I wanted to create a space absolutely isolated from the turmoil of the world. A place where time is suspended, an Eden’s Garden. Like a peace found after the battlefields.” Lehanneur says.

Beyond Aesthetics: The Soul of the Artisan Sunday, November 17, 4pm Wider accessibility to goods and craftsmanship once considered nearly unattainable has redefined the concept of luxury design to emphasize the experiential—pieces imbued with a narrative that evokes an emotional response. In the hands of artisans, traditional and historical references become modern, relevant, and meaningful. Design doyenne Margaret Russell leads a panel discussion on bespoke and limited-edition furnishings, focusing on exquisite materials, impeccable design, and flawless handcrafting—as well as the idea of how artisanship today can be enriched by state-of-the-art technology. Margaret is joined by creative, highly influential leaders in the world of luxury design including Frank Pollaro, president and CEO of Pollaro, and Gabriel Hendifar, creative director of Apparatus.

Moët Hennessy Paradis Imperial Created by the 7th generation Master Blender Yann Fillioux in 2011, Hennessy Paradis Imperial exemplifies the art of selection, maturation and blending. Only 10 out of 10,000 eaux de-vie of any given vintage are eligible to become part of this blend. Hennessy Paradis Imperial defies preconceptions about aged cognacs—the golden hue of the cognac is surprising and unprecedented for eaux-de-vie of this age. On the nose, floral freshness of jasmine and orange blossom blend with the subtle herbal notes. Hennessy Paradis Imperial ultimately made of precision.
