Welcome to Salon!
In a way, this feels like the first real fair since the pandemic as we welcome back a wonderful roster of international galleries who were unable to join us last year.
You’ll see the return of participants who’ve exhibited with us in the past, but who haven’t been here since 2019, joined by a roster of exhibitors who make their debut with us this November.
For returning visitors as well as new attendees, you’ll find no shortage of wonderful things to see in the booths of our exhibitors as well as in the spaces of our special design partners. This year we welcome for the first time a gallery from Egypt showing a wide range of contemporary middle-Eastern art and design. From India, we welcome a designer of Art Deco inspired lighting. You’ll see these and many many more unexpected pieces—both vintage and contemporary.
Along with our increased internationality this year, we have also broadened our accessibility. Our galleries are encouraged to bring works by emerging designers so along with ensuring material that hasn’t been seen before, we can offer works to both new and seasoned collectors at Salon.
Although we hope we make it look easy, the work that goes into creating Salon goes on for months prior to the fair. I’d like to take a moment to thank our amazing team for all the unseen things they do. Jennifer Stark, our COO is the glue that holds the place together. From creating better systems to more efficient ticketing and wrestling with vendors, Jennifer is the backbone of the fair. Nicky Dessources, our director of logistics and operations spends months on working on the construction of the fair and design of the booths, and quite literally without her there would be no Salon. Jules Leonardos has joined us this year as marketing and social media manager and is doing a top-notch job. Xin Yi Zhao, assistant fair manager, tackles a wide variety of projects with great poise and Keiko Nabila, the world’s best scavenger, can find anything and keeps the train on the track. Wendy Buckley, our director of partnerships works tirelessly to bring in exciting new installations each year and is wildly successful at it.
Finally, there’s Sandy. Sanford Smith, who essentially created the niche fair in this country, gets lots of publicity and needs no introduction to many of you. He is the maestro, the one with the vision to have created a long string of exceptional events culminating in Salon Art + Design.
All of us welcome all of you. Enjoy the fair.

Amy Lau Design, founded in 2011, creates interiors known for their warmth, expressiveness and impeccable attention to detail. Amy has a reverence for the inherent beauty of natural materials and landscape and thoughtfully incorporates elements of each into every project.
On the occasion of Salon Art + Design, Amy Lau Design presents an exhibition titled Beauty of Brutalism. While Brutalism first appeared in architecture, it quickly found its way to other genres, including furniture, lighting, decorative accessories, and jewelry, from the mid-20th century to its peak popularity in the mid-1970s. With a renewed interest and appreciation for this movement, Amy Lau Design looks to find the beauty of Brutalism through a selection of carefully curated period pieces that are rich in color, materials, texture, and finishes. The exhibit also presents contemporary designers influenced by the Brutalist movement’s resurgence. CharlesZana Mobilier is the furniture collection by renowned architect and decorator Charles Zana. The collection evokes an exclusive, modern mood that is in keeping with great French traditions. With a solid training in the history of decorative arts, the architect often evokes memory and déjà vu to which he adds a contemporary twist. “Elegance, proportion and comfort” could sum up the philosophy of the furniture collection. He naturally uses his builder’s sense of scale and precise proportions in the furniture he designs. Precious materials and finishings done by exceptional craftsmen, many of whose skills have been passed down over generations, contribute to the proposal’s uniqueness. Charles Zana will be the first French interior designer to exhibit in the Drill Hall at Salon. Charles Zana Mobilier will present a selection of new works in production among their most popular preexisting pieces.

Didier Ltd is a gallery unique in specializing in jewelry made and designed by painters, sculptors, architects and designers from the late 19th to the end of the 20th century. The gallery will be presenting a selection of jewels created by Modern Masters, by painters and sculptors whose artworks are collected and prized internationally although their contributions to jewelry design might be less well known. All these jewels have been acquired from the secondary art market and with the benefit of hindsight so that the pieces selected truly reflect the artists’ oeuvre. Furthermore, the gallery will be concentrating on jewelry by women artists who often started by making pieces for themselves, so that the jewelry they wore became an extension of their artistic persona.
Klove Studio is a lighting design studio in New Delhi, the capital of India. Lighting designers, Prateek Jain and Gautam Seth founded Klove Studio in 2005 with a purpose to play with light and explore its form in different dimensions. To celebrate their participation in Salon Art + Design, Klove Studio will reveal Totems Over Time, a new collection. Artistically handcrafted to reimagine age-old symbols of social and sacred significance, Totems Over Time features elegant structures that are brought to life with glass and metal, to create a series of installations that turn the clock back a century. Each piece within the collection takes references from tribal icons and motifs. Reminiscing the wilderness of nature, while adhering to the modern discipline of Art Deco, the collection features a harmonious balance between geometry and symmetry.
Lauren Adriana is a London-based high jeweler who creates a limited body of exceptional fine jewels. After studying Jewelry Design and graduating from renowned art college Central Saint Martins, she founded the business with her husband Nicholas Briggs in 2012. Working together, they shepherd Lauren’s vision into the realization of around forty unique jewels each year. Lauren Adriana’s commitment to abstraction over naturalism sets her jewels apart from other and inspires the boldly graphic designs that are her signature. At Salon Art + Design, Lauren Adriana is celebrating a 10-year anniversary, and will be debuting brand new work including their latest ‘Twist Necklace,’ a design and construction that has been pioneered by the jeweler.

Ottra creates award-winning sculptural furniture and site-specific installations from its studio in Brooklyn, NY. Made of solid wood, pieces range from the signature Asymmetric Bench to bespoke staircases. At Salon, founders Sofia and Adam Zimmerman present an 8-foot diameter walnut floor mirror that rests on a stack laminated ball-like base, as well as an oak-framed sofa recently recognized with an NYCxDesign Award.
Palmalisa Zantedeschi s.r.l was founded in 1989 in Cavaion Veronese, a commune in the province of Verona, at the heart of Veronese marble. Palmalisa was born into a family of four generations of stonemasons and sculptors, and the company draws on the history of the previous family business in stonemasonry as well as a general experience of marble work in the region gained over centuries, now instilled in the region’s DNA. For Salon Art + Design, Palmalisa will present works from their INCANTO collection.
Refractory – a new Chicago-based studio founded by Angie West and Alberto Vélez – is bringing its distinctive language of functional art and collectible design to Salon NY this Fall. Visitors will be introduced to the brand’s rigorously crafted furniture, lighting and sculpture in the Park Avenue Armory’s Colonel’s Room. The studio’s inaugural collection, which softly debuted in the Fall of 2021 and internationally in Milan in 2022, includes monumental dining tables, consoles, benches, seating, lighting and objects rendered from cast bronze, cast glass, solid black walnut and white oak, culminated in a muted, deep palette of patinas that evoke natural phenomena and earthen pigments. Each work is one-of-a-kind; a result of heat, of chemical interaction, and of the hand, giving rise to variation and mystery, as well as an identifying code for purposes of authenticity and provenance. Engaging in an open-ended renaissance of American artisanship and small-scale urban manufacturing, the Refractory atelier offers artisans and master craftspeople a space to experiment and create alongside other masters of craft – and to be the magic behind some of the world’s most enduring works in these materialities.

Joined by his son Victor in 2005, they continue the search for improbable mixes and eclecticism, confronting 20th century masters of design with contemporary artists such as Béatrice Serre, Agnès Debizet and Emmanuel Jonckers.
