bali bali is one of the 34 provinces of the republic of indonesia and has become the prime holiday destination in indonesia as well as one of the major holiday destinations for international tourists. The island is located in the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east, and divided into 9 districts (8 regencies and 1 municipality) with population around four million people. Denpasar is the capital and most populous city of bali. The vast majority of the balinese people are hindu so there are a significant number of temples on the island. Temple or pura in indonesian is the place for worship, and the biggest, most important and holiest temple in bali is the mother Temple of besakih. bali has a tropical climate all year with average temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and two different seasons. Dry season is between may and September with high humidity and wet season is between october and april with low humidity. From June to august, the weather is usually nice, breezy and cool. The main language is indonesia, however being one of the most favourite holiday destinations in the world, not only many people speak english but also other foreign languages such as French, Japanese, Chinese, germany.

lombok Situated right next to Bali, Lombok unspoiled atmosphere of vintage tropical paradise might remind its visitors of Bali a couple decades ago. It is a developing tourism destination which proven by the recentlyrefurbished International Airport located in the city of Praya, serving regular flight to and from several cities of Java and the island of Bali, as well as neighboring countries of Malaysia and Singapore, the island also accessible by boat from Bali, Flores and Sumbawa. Lombok has a rich and enduring indigenous culture that has withstood the pressures of modernity remarkably well. 85% of the island inhabitants are composed by indigenous Sasak people whose origins are thought to have arisen from Java in the first millennium BC. Other residents include an estimated 10–15% Balinese, with the small remainder being Tionghoa-peranakan, Javanese, Sumbawanese and Arab Indonesians. Besides the widely-known spots of interest such as Senggigi Beach, Mount Rinjani and the Gili clusters, there are numerous fascinating underrated spots to see around the island, including Kuta Beach (not to be confused with the legendary one in Bali) on the Southern side, or the magnificent Tangsi Beach a.k.a ‘Pink beach’ at Eastern Lombok, named for the gorgeous pink sand covering its entire shoreline. In the central Lombok, you can opt to visit Selong Belanak beach, a secluded shoreline area with soft white-sand surrounded by lush greenery. With abundance natural and cultural wonders to relish, Lombok is a piece of admirable getaway for those who look for a relaxing tropical vacation.

‘A Portrait for Charity; Le Méridien Bali Jimbaran annual fundraising event Le Méridien Bali Jimbaran recently held their annual fundraiser event ‘A Portrait for Charity’ on Saturday, 3 December 2016 at Bale Banjar Ballroom. The event featured a photo hunting, a photography workshop, and pop-up market, attended by nearly 80 people from students, professionals, and community join together to capture the unique Jimbaran area through their lenses, to improve their photography skills, to gather and expand link. In collaboration with some of Indonesia’s famous professional photographers as the speakers, Mr. Gabriel Ulung Wicaksono – a well-known photographer which his services have been used by the world’s major hotel and resort brands and Mr. Aji Maharesi – a professional street and food photographer. The fund that is raised during this event will be given to UNICEF Check Out for Children to support UNICEF’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) across Asia and the Pacific.

ombok is a small island with big collection of fascinating culture, natural splendor and traditional food. Between arrays of grilled satay, taliwang chicken and plecing kangkung vegetable spicy water spinach dish, kelaq kelor is one non-mainstream dish worth mentioning only for its healthy benefit. Daun kelor, or Moringa leaves, just recently gain worldwide recognition as one of nature’s super food with lots of benefit for body. Its leaves have been used as part of traditional medicine for centuries, and the Ayurvedic system of medicine associates it with the cure or prevention of about 300 diseases. Moringa, sometimes described as the “miracle tree,” “drumstick tree,” or “horseradish tree,” has small, rounded leaves that are packed with an incredible

amount of nutrition: protein, calcium, beta carotene, vitamin C, potassium and many more. It has been used as medicine and food source for at least 4,000 years. Kelaq kelor is basically a portion of soup mainly made from moringa leaves along with other vegetables from cherry tomato to long beans, and best enjoyed with hot white rice and Lombok traditional shrimp-paste (terasi) chili sauce.

The paintings were also judged by industry veterans like wellknown Balinese architect Popo Danes, Balinese Artist Ida Bagus Indra, Mr I.Ketut Marra, S.Pd, M.Pd who has selected three top winners and a fourth favorite artist. As a sacred temple, Pura Beji existence could be traced back to the 15th century. It was built as a place to worship Sri, the Goddess of prosperity. Although rather small in size compared to other ‘Kahyangan Jagat’ temple around the island
of gods, but Pura Beji held a huge significant meaning for Balinese Hindu worshippers. Here, you can view the distinctive masterpiece of Buleleng carving style on its walls and temple decorations. Upon entering the temple, you will be greeted with two statues
of foreign men playing musical instruments. This fact makes Pura Beji a great example of peaceful enculturation between Balinese local folk with foreigners and proves how the people of the island have been very open-minded and welcoming ever since the ancient era.
