Bali is one of the 34 provinces of the Republic of Indonesia and has become the prime holiday destination in Indonesia as well as one of the major holiday destinations for international tourists. The island is located in the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east, and divided into 9 districts (8 regencies and 1 municipality) with population around four million people. Denpasar is the capital and most populous city of Bali. The vast majority of the Balinese people are Hindu so there are a significant number of temples on the island. Temple or Pura in Indonesian is the place for worship, and the biggest, most important and holiest temple in Bali is the Mother Temple of Besakih. Bali has a tropical climate all year with average temperature of 31 degrees Celsius and two different seasons. Dry season is between May and September with high humidity and wet season is between October and April with low humidity. From June to August, the weather is usually nice, breezy and cool. The main language is Indonesia, however being one of the most favourite holiday destinations in the world, not only many people speak English but also other foreign languages such as French, Japanese, Chinese, Germany.

Situated right next to Bali, Lombok unspoiled atmosphere of vintage tropical paradise might remind its visitors of Bali a couple decades ago. It is a developing tourism destination which proven by the recently-refurbished International Airport located in the city of Praya, serving regular flight to and from several cities of Java and the island of Bali, as well as neighboring countries of Malaysia and Singapore, the island also accessible by boat from Bali, Flores and Sumbawa. Lombok has a rich and enduring indigenous culture that has withstood the pressures of modernity remarkably well. 85% of the island inhabitants are composed by indigenous Sasak people whose origins are thought to have arisen from Java in the first millennium BC. Other residents include an estimated 10–15% Balinese, with the small remainder being Tionghoa-peranakan, Javanese, Sumbawanese and Arab Indonesians. Besides the widely-known spots of interest such as Senggigi Beach, Mount Rinjani and the Gili clusters, there are numerous fascinating underrated spots to see around the island, including Kuta Beach (not to be confused with the legendary one in Bali) on the Southern side, or the magnificent Tangsi Beach a.k.a ‘Pink beach’ at Eastern Lombok, named for the gorgeous pink sand covering its entire shoreline. In the central Lombok, you can opt to visit Selong Belanak beach, a secluded shoreline area with soft white-sand surrounded by lush greenery. With abundance natural and cultural wonders to relish, Lombok is a piece of admirable getaway for those who look for a relaxing tropical vacation.

Ling-Ling Bali Restaurant & Bar serves arrays of Korean, Japanese and Chinese-inspired menus with Western-European touch. Then for vegetable lovers, you must order Ling’s garden;

To wrap it up with light-bite treat, sweet potato donut can be a great pick. Consisting cinnamon-glazed potato donut, served in kebab style for a mild-sweet tender taste of baked goodness. TIPS & TRICK There are some advantages to shop at traditional market or small stores around the island, you might find some excellent handicraft or clothes, and you could actually bargain for their price! Here are some tips of dealing with bargain when you shop around the island. Check them out! GO SOLO (FROM TOUR GROUP) Many tour operators are in alliance with the larger retail businesses that operate in the island, so it is better if you didn’t get introduced as a part of large tour group. No substantial kickback comission means (way) cheaper price for you to start haggling down the price. EARLY BIRDS GETS THE BEST PRICE Believe it or not, this mostly works. Psychologically people feel more fresh in the morning, therefore many shop will be very happy to make their first income of the day. Even if you come afternoon, you can still pull this off by asking morning price. This also shows the shopkeeper that you are not a ‘newbie shopper’.
HAGGLE HASSLE : BARGAINING TIPS FOR CONVENIENT SHOPPING
FRIEND FIRST, BUSINESS LATER Balinese (or Indonesian people in general) love to make friends, so don’t just barge in with scruffy face. Always ask politely with a smile and friendly gesture, don’t hesitate to learn one or two simple Bahasa words. If you can show them sincere kindness, they will be more than happy to lower the price for you, genuinely.

KUTA
There are much already said and done about Kuta, but the fact is, this is the area that never sleeps. Kuta nowadays has changed quite significantly, for better than worst. The beach is cleaner, the road are mostly paved and it still maintains the original ambient even though many kind of places have been built from shop, resorts, restaurants, pub, bars, lounge to lifestyle hub. It remains a great place to visit.
