LOGO AND NAME OPTIONS - Jus - the appeal of this were in the fresh connotations the word has, and the potential double meaning, which could imply versatility in the menu (french for juice and for gravy).

- Miel - another foreign word (french for honey) which hints at the idea of natural elements in food, and also makes a point of the restaurants afternoon tea and breakfast concept.

- The Cinnamon Kitchen - makes implications of a country house theme, ‘kitchen’ gives the name a homely quality, while, like ‘miel’, cinnamon suggests homemade food and sweet foods like cakes and scones, which make references to one of the main attractions of the restaurant - afternoon tea.

RESEARCH The research I did was focused mainly around similarly themed restaurants, ie, those that serve brunch and afternoon tea as a big part of their menu.

After doing my research I gathered a few potential ideas to include and concepts for my own branding.

I was able to identify what type of food I wanted to serve, plenty of warming comfort foods, with an underlying British theme, but plenty of other options.

It helped me determine the stock I wanted to use and the colour scheme I would follow in order to maintain the atmosphere I was aiming for.

I was pushed to consider the idea of having the restaurant sell homely products like homemade jams and biscuits, as i thought this would give the restaurant an air of authenticity.

BRANDING The identity of the restaurant has been kept simple but recognisable.

I designed a typeface that i have experimented with before and had good feedback on. I added ‘Let them eat cake’ to show what the restaurant is about, but don’t plan on including this in much of the branding.

The logo is a simple combination of the two letters and again has been designed to show the simple aesthetic of the letterforms, since this is to be a typographically based rebrand.

I have included an image of an ideal loaction of this restaurant, in a pedestrianised area, perhaps a courtyard, as this allows for outdoor seating without the added problem of noise from roads or cars, ensuring that the experience is quite intimate in a secluded area.

Let them eat cake

DISTRIBUTION The main focus of my brief is print, with a web based proposal. The items I have included are: - 3 menus - drinks (A5), breakfast and afternoon tea (A4), and lunch and dinner (A3).

- Matt laminated business card - Letterhead - Placemat - Coaster I have chosen an Ivory card stock for much of the printed items as it works well with the burgandy colour.

MOCK UPS I created some digital examples of how the logo translates onto things like crockery and packaging withint the restaurant.

I also created some mock ups of a website proposal, featuring applications like a booking form or image gallery that would allow for viewers to see what they can expect from the restaurant
