TUMBLING THRESHOLDS S The main shape (in which ch the iterations were made from) is used to creat both extreme and mild angles of EENCLOSURES to point out the varying levels of public and private. Walking through the sstructure, we can begin to imagine two occupants who inhabit the space. One is in tuned ne to fitness activities and the other’s activities are shifted towards relaxation. Due ue to the various hidden spaces, both occupants can use the space as the same time without th being aware of one another, this is due to the level of privacy even within the pu public spaces SPRING 2015

RIDGE RIDER

The main focus of this project is creating a multitude of habitable spaces that correspond with the programs related to Horticultural exploration. This would include Laboratory spaces in which users, mainly students, and researchers, may conduct their experiments as well as scientific research. This space would therein be a medium sized space able to contain between 40-45 students at once. Next, the classrooms, where students as well as professors spend a quarter of their time in, is the same size as the Labs. Here instruction and discussion may take place, and may even sometimes be facilitated in an outdoor classroom. In between classes and flexible times during the day, the cafĂŠ (a much smaller space) includes a few places to sit and an outdoor courtyard where most people enjoy their meals. The gallery is the main space in which research is exhibited and specimens, as well as experimental conclusions are curated and displayed for all to see, this space is bigger than the cafĂŠ but smaller than the lab. Finally, the auditorium, which is the largest space within the academy is the space for summer concerts, lectures and large public discussions to take place all year round.

THE PROCESS The topology of the original site is modified based on the placement of four spaces. The final shapes are based on four points within each circle that intersect with the topology. Ridges are, this time, aimed at being more controlled within the interior spaces that in the previous drafts. In the previous draft, there was more of a focus on creating the new topology around main circulation paths, creating a more uniform pattern where people were most likely to pass through. This draft however is more in tuned with the interior spaces, where more regulated patterns are produced. Four main views are named facing: the Hudson River, existing buildings on site (2), existing outdoor gathering space, in which I would like my four spaces to be facing.

These projections will determine the framed views that the spaces produce. Some point at the center whereas others turn from the center, their main focus varying throughout the site. Circulation patterns across the academy grounds are pointed out with multiple variations of getting to different locations. Prototypes were used to experiment with what the final forms wre going to be. using various modular components, aned repetition, along with __ following along the contour lines, the structure of the ridge riders took form throughout these explorations. METALLIC WATERFALL

With the use of Grasshopper for form generation and VRay rendering, my team of three designed a life sized folley to be installed on the fifth floor of Higgins hall. We hand cuz the strips of metallic mylar and added the paperclip joints to hook onto the perforated steel grate walking platform. The installation allowed for human interaction and various visual perspectives with the reflctive surfaces. The renders below show our earlier design involving the voronoi pattern.

DISTRIBUTED DECONSTRUCTION We took the unfinished OMA project, the distributed House, and reconstriucted it with the documents we were able to find. I began to focus on the asemble as well as the distrubution throughout the house (this was composed of thrtee different houses, the master bedroom, guest room, and the dinning room). Throughout my analysis of this project, I focused on the guest room as well as the master bedroom and further analyzed them through the deconstruction of theor parts. i later on assembles the varying components of both ouses, and put them together in order to create a “hybrid house form that i would further look into as one structure.
