This is a journal. It is not JUST a journal, but rather a series of typographic explorations in Letterforms II. Each page created was based on a daily reflection and later transformed into creative designs.

To get a better idea of the background I want for each poster, and like Ashley said pick one idea and work that one to its full potential. I spent a lot of time yesterday making graphics for each one because I was unsure of what I really wanted. I need put a little spice in each to make them really stand out.

Give a verbal description of what we will see on your insipration board. What adjectives describe the tonality? What kind of colors, design elements, typography will show up in your inspiration board, and ultimately your design? What kind of photography or illustration?

For my inspiration board, It will be edgy, contrasting (backgrounds may be more plain while objects hold intense colors) typography will also be colorful visual elements. Color palettes are darker, deeper shades of blues/reds/yellows. I want to use objects that are simple yet powerful. The type and main image are going to be main focus. Images are going to be symbolic, I might even combine photography with a single item/image like a rose

What initially hooked you about graphic design? Now that you have been a student of graphic design for more than a year, what keeps you hooked? What sparked my interest about graphic design at first was that I saw it as a field where I could use my creativity and artistic ability and also be professional. I always wanted to do something with art, but didn’t want to fall under that ‘starving artist’ category. Once I explored the many fields of graphic design, I found that I could definitly fit into some of those professions. I have stayed with the program because of where I see myself in the future and also because I enjoy learning the programs. There are so many directions I can take this and I get excited about all the possibilities.

What part of the design of this image map are you enjoying? What aspects do you find challenging? “It helped me generate more ideas and a better direction as to where I wanted to take the project. It also helped me to notice the minor things that needed to be tweaked.

Refining wise, I would love to potentially re-

Looking back over the semester's assignments — play poster series, holiday card, Occupy Wall Street issues map, typeface poster, reflections journal — which project have you been the most engaged with? What was about that project that you liked working on? What project was the least interesting to you? Why? The one I liked the most was the type-face poster. I enjoyed working with more than just the basics of the type face, such as glyphs and pretty characters. My least favorite was the play posters because there were many restrictions and I had a hard time combining all three aspects and making it actually look good. I couldn’t get as creative as I wanted.
