Last year

My self branding created last year very heavily reflected my likeliness for creating design aimed at children, particularly work that is very heavily illustration based. When creating the branding last year it wasn't very well thought out and finding where I wanted to be this year within the Graphic design sector has led me to a different place. I also reconsidered the function of self branding and what I want its role to be.

In with the new

Not only have I come to realise in the past year that branding and packaging are where my interests really lie, with no briefs relating to a childrens audience, I have also learnt what I want my branding to be and do. The branding produced is simple and supports my portfolio rather than fights it for attention. It is minimalist and easy to read however still conveys an air of personal touch which was very imporant that I kept.

Theme + aesthetic

The theme of the branding plays upon my last name Goldthorpe, in which a white black and gold colour scheme have been used to reflect this. The designs are simple to support my portfolio, however there are hints of illustration to communicate that this is still at the heart of what I do. Gold foil details are used as a perosonal reference to my last name, the branding is welcoming and friendly with phrases such as 'lets make gold together'.
