WELCOME
p4
If you’re looking for a church or exploring the Christian faith, you’re very welcome at our church. If you are coming to a Sunday service for the first time we want to make your visit as enjoyable as possible by letting you know exactly what’s involved. Coffee, tea and fresh home-made cakes are served and if you have any children they can be signed into Discovery Zone from 9.20am, 11.05am or 5.20pm, depending on which service you are attending. We start with a time of worship which lasts for about 25 minutes. Songs are like prayers set to music and can help us express to God what’s in our hearts. The words will be on the screens so feel free to join in or just listen to the music. Mid-way through we take a short break for notices and information. A practical talk from the Bible will follow and there will be an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service. After the service please make your way over to the welcome area where you can chat to some of our team, ask any questions you might have and pick up helpful information. We also serve hot and cold refreshments and cakes from the catering area after each service. Communion is served at each service, once a month. If you are on a journey towards Jesus, you are very welcome to join in.

CELL COMMUNITIES On the 4th Sunday of the month we don’t have a Sunday service in Network House. Instead we spend the time building and extending community across our city. Our cell groups join together in different locations to host many expressions of local church. Check on the website to find out what is happening near you on the next Community Sunday.
Baptism SerVICES Baptism is the way we tell our friends, family and God that we want to be committed to Him. These are great celebrations where we hear stories about changed lives. If you are thinking about being baptised please take a leaflet from the information wall or chat to one of the staff team. Venue: Birmingham Christian Centre Date: Sunday 31 May Time: 3.30pm
DEDICATION SerVICES Child dedications are times when we thank God for the wonderful gift of a new child and commit them into His care. Parents are undertaking to pray for their child and bring them up in the knowledge of Jesus until they are old enough to make their own decision to follow Christ. Venue: Birmingham Christian Centre Date: Sunday 31 May Time: 3.30pm
BIG CHURCH We love to gather everyone from each of our three services together to celebrate all that God is doing amongst us. These gatherings are a fun, lively and exciting celebration of God’s goodness! Put the dates in your diaries. Venue: Birmingham Christian Centre Date: Sunday 31 May, Sunday 29 November p7
Exploring
FAITH Got questions about the Christian faith? If you or your friends have questions about faith, we would love to invite you to join us at our next Alpha course.
p8
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the meaning of life. It’s fun, relaxed and totally no pressure. Sometimes it’s easier not to ask questions but on Alpha we think life is worth exploring, so your questions are welcome, no matter how ‘out there’ they are. If you’ve got lots of meaningful questions or never really understood the Christian faith or been to church, then Alpha is for you. Alpha doesn’t care about your background, it welcomes all those big and small questions and it’s free.

How does it work?
During each of the 10 sessions there is a short talk, some delicious cake, drinks and a chat around your table.
Does God heal today?

Come to a welcome meal Dates : 8 May, 5 June, 10 July, 11 Sept Andrew and Rosie and Simon and Keely regularly host a Welcome Dinner for anyone new to the church. This is a chance to meet them, hear their story and ask any questions over a relaxed meal. Fill in a form at the Welcome Area and we’ll be in touch soon with the details.
Join a cell group We’ve found that the best way to make new friends in a large church is through our cell groups. They meet around the city on different days and times and are simply places to journey life together as smaller communities within the church. Cells are places where you can meet with friends, a place of support and encouragement and a place to know people and be known yourself. For more information, visit our website or pick up a cell flyer from the information wall to find some groups to try.
Join a team Joining a team is a great way to get involved in the life of the church. From serving tea and coffee on Sunday and welcoming visitors, through to serving those in need through Foodbank or helping our children to get to know Jesus in Discovery Zone. Visit the information area and fill in your details on an iPad to sign up for a team.
GIVE We want to be generous people, providing the church with the resources to do things well, whilst also demonstrating God’s generosity outside this church in what we give away. We believe giving is a part of our worship and we would encourage you to give regularly. Your gifts will help us reach and serve this city. There is an opportunity to give every Sunday or visit the giving page on the website at birminghamvineyard.com/giving.

DISCOVERY ZONE
p12
Discovery Zone (DZ) is our exciting children’s ministry for those aged 0 to 11 years.
We believe that the children are a vital part of our church and therefore we want them to be actively involved in all that we do – worship, reading the Bible, prayer, ministry, serving, giving and sharing God’s heart for the poor and those that do not know Jesus. Discovery Zone is a fun and exciting place both for the children and the team! Our DZ team run children’s groups on Sunday mornings for children aged 0-11 and on Sunday evenings for those aged 4-11. These are high quality, fun, interactive sessions which help the children and the leaders get to know Jesus better and explore the amazing things He invites us to do.
zara@birminghamvineyard.com
We aim to lovingly disciple the children and pray that they will grow in their walk with Jesus – loving Him with all their hearts and following Him every day. If you are looking for a church and have children, then we would love them to join us. On Sundays the groups run throughout the service and every child is guaranteed a great time! Youth
p14
Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly with our God
Our youth group is for those in Y7 through to Y13. Our mission is to see Jesus impact the lives of these young men and women and mould them to become more like Him.
We have a passion for building up a youth who will worship God through the good times and the bad, who are excited about having a relationship with Jesus, who desire to study their Bibles, pray and see things happen, and who have a heart to reach out to the community in which they live.
Youth dates for the term
Our youth get together in different environments throughout the month‌.twice a month in youth cells on Sunday evenings, and twice a month on Friday evenings, either for youth club or for a lively Friday Night Live event with great worship.
Friday Night Live 7.30pm - 10pm
They have plenty of time to hang out, play games, learn more about Jesus and pray for one another. Lots of sweets and food are involved! They are serious about having lots of fun but also serious about following Jesus.

LOVE BRUM
p16
students We believe church should be fun and down to earth - the kind of place where anyone can feel at home. We love to hang out together, worship God together and serve our communities together. We think that following Jesus is all about making a difference in an otherwise crazy world and showing genuine love to those around us.
As a church, God has given us a heart for our communities and a heart for mission, therefore we exist in missional community groups across the city to build one another up and bring wholeness to broken lives through the power of the Gospel. We gather centrally on most Sundays to celebrate what God is doing across the city, however, on the 4th Sunday of the month we meet in our missional community groups to impact the community sharing Jesus’ love.
DATES Friday Night Live: 15 May, 19 June, 17 July
We have a large group of students, and are committed to helping and discipling students that attend. We really want to invest in you while you are at university, help you grow and give you opportunities to step out into what God has planned for you. James@birminghamvineyard.com

Baptism
Baptism basically involves two things:telling your story and getting extremely wet! It’s the way we tell the world and God that we want to be committed to Him. Immersion in water is a symbol of the inner change that has taken place in our lives when we decide to follow Jesus. In baptism we identify with Jesus in His three great acts that secured our salvation - His death, burial and resurrection. Going into the water, and then coming up out of it symbolically demonstrates these things.
“an outward sign of an inward faith”
We encourage everyone who wants to get baptised to share some of how Jesus has changed their lives. People love listening to personal stories and there is nothing as special as hearing how God has wonderfully worked in someone’s life. Telling our story helps to encourage others and show that God is personal and works uniquely in every individual. If you would like to get baptised:
1 pick up a baptism card from the info wall 2 chat to your cell group leader 3 contact the church office

Cell groups
Cell groups are central to our church vision. They are a place to discover what it practically means to follow Jesus. Meals together, serving one another, growing in our faith and ‘being Jesus’ to the people that we meet all helps create a sense of community with a purpose. All our groups have slightly different flavours but the same values run through all of them. We want to learn to live life with Jesus at the centre, rather than at the edge of our lives. Everyone needs a group to call home, a place to belong, a place to grow spiritually and friends to do life with. Cells provide a community within the wider community of the church where you can be known and feel safe to grow. We want to become everything that God has destined us for, in work, in our relationships and in all of life. Our groups are a place where this process of spiritual growth can happen, where you can find help reading the Bible, learn to pray and hear people sharing their stories. You can be yourself there but it’s also a place to be challenged and equipped.
We know that Jesus led by example in serving others and showing God’s love to the world. In cells we learn to serve one another and also our neighbours and friends. All our cells are open to everybody and anybody and love to welcome new people. We would love to help you find the group which will suit you best. Do pick up a flyer from the information wall and feel free to call, e-mail or visit a group near you. Alternatively ask our Sunday welcome team to introduce you to our cell leaders.

Foodbank
donation box If you would like to donate money for a Foodbank bag to be filled on your behalf then please place your money in a Foodbank envelope and post it in the donation box by the Foodbank tables at the back of church. Each Foodbank bag costs around £5 to fill. Our Foodbank co-ordinator will gladly fill a bag on your behalf.
Grab a bag fill a bag give a bag p22
Foodbank reaches out to serve those in need by providing a simple bag of food or toiletries. Bags are given to families and individuals in need by our partner organisations; Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid, Freshwinds, Gateway Family Services, South and City College, Handsworth and Ladywood Children’s Centres. Filling a Foodbank bag is a simple way to show God’s love and care. “The team from Soho and Rookery Children’s Centres had contact with an African woman who had been trafficked into the country and was pregnant after being raped. They went to visit her in a house in Handsworth and were surprised to find two more women. One of them was heavily pregnant and they were able to take her to hospital, just in time as she gave birth two hours later! Thanks to Foodbank, the team were able to pass on Food, Toiletries and Baby bags to these women, who seem to have been abandoned and have no access to public funds.” Never forget that the bags you fill make a difference in peoples lives!
We gave away 211 Easter eggs! Thank you hpipe@birminghamvineyard.com
