Chapter One Laying A Egg There are lots of monarch butterflies every year. There would also be lots of new eggs for monarch butterflies too! So you would look for some. They are small. Trust me I’ve seen them a lot of times. They are so cute! If you have seen them. Then you should know what does it look like. I would hope you would agree with me. The Monarch butterflies only travel once a year. So there might a chance to see them. But the eggs also can get eaten.  There are many Monarch eggs every year. First a Monarch butterfly goes onto a leaf. They will look for the most perfect leaf like the leaf when they were born. The most perfect leaf witch is the plant that has raspberry. They will lay their egg and leave. Once they lay the egg it will not come back. It will not come back like other animals or 3

insect or bugs or other things. It will never come back once it lays the egg. but it might happen but it would be really rare. But I am 100% that it will not happen. It will just be there without their mom. It is sad really sad and really sad anyhow. But it sometimes might get eaten when it is an egg like for an example birds like to eat bugs, snails, butterflies, and worms. So they’ll also eat some caterpillar eggs or original caterpillars. It also might be hard to find pupas in town. But it’s easy to find a pupa in farms, forests, meadows, or a place that is wild. When a caterpillar is still in the egg it can get some things that it does not like. Because They have things that they won’t like when they eat the egg. Some things might kill them if they eat it. And also the egg is sticky too. So they die pretty easy.

Chapter Two Egg To Caterpillar It is ready to hatch now. Some caterpillars are scary because that’s the way they are born. Some of them are camouflage. And the ones that I like are spiky, small, and sometimes scary too. Once it is born it will eat the egg for energy. It will also get to some peace and quiet. Later it will have some great yummy tummy leaves. The leaves are also the ones that they were born on so they also eat some leaves when they are just born. Witch makes them THE NEVER ENDING EATERS. I call it that because they’re always hungry. And they get bigger and fatter every day so that’s why I call it THE NEVER ENDING EATERS. Then it will get to a place and rest for peace and quiet. Then it’s going to eat it before night. Later when it is night it will 5

go to the place it was born from. Then it eats the rest of the leaf and leaves home. Now the caterpillars are gone far from home. Now we’re talking about different kinds, how they look like, colorful, camouflage, non colorful. So some caterpillars is like a stick, twig, and other stuff. Now lets talk about stick caterpillars. The stick ones are not easy to find like other ones. These caterpillars will match with sticks so they often get stepped on. So watch where are you stepping on. Now we are talking about twigs or broken twigs. Some caterpillars can rap them self-up that looks like broken twigs. Some times the broken twigs can rap them self up when they are a fully-grown butterfly because their wing can rap stuff.  And the secret for caterpillars is that it looks scary so it can scar off the predators really easy. Some are camouflage by the 6

shape. Like a twig, stick, and a dead twig. So I am sure some of them are not going to get eaten.

Chapter

Three

Caterpillar To Pupa Caterpillars will eventually turn into pupas. The good things about pupas they are hard. And almost one of the hardest shells for insects. The pupa will look really nice. Once the caterpillar is almost two months. It build the pupa. Also chrysalis is also Pupas but fancier way to say pupa. After two ENTIRE weeks it will turn into a pupa. The whole thing about pupas is that it will turn into a butterfly. Because if they turn into a butterfly out side of something hard it will just get eaten by a bird. Now I’ll tell you what they do. they’ll make the chrysalis. One It hatches from an egg. Two A tiny caterpillar comes out from the egg. Three It will eat and grow big. 8

Four They will make a chrysalis around it and takes two weeks to six months to make the chrysalis. Five It turns into a butterfly. There is also one more thing you’ll have to know witch is does it start top first or bottom first. I’ll tell you it starts from top or else how can it start making it. So it starts top then it goes to middle and finally it make it at they head.

Chapter Four Pupa To Butterfly Now here chrysalises are way to small to find. But you can feel if there is a pupa under a leaf like if I feel a small lump under the leaf then that means there is a pupa or chrysalis. It Actually maybe the pupa or chrysalis will turn out to take a few months or weeks until it turns into a butterfly. But most times it is two weeks until it turns into one huge or small butterfly. It would might take a little long than two weeks it just depends on the type of butterfly. I also hope it will not take months to let the butterfly come out. The shell will also become see through then you can see what type of butterfly is it. And it will come out in a few days. So now the butterflies are almost coming out. So watch it come out! It’s really cool. Good luck looking at the picture though!

Chapter Five A Long Journey Here there are a lot of stuff you’ll might be interested in. So you’ll might want to get your head up in this chapter. And it might begin here. So as you know that monarch butterflies takes a HUGE journey to a place they have never seen before. So i’ll tell you. Also Monarch butterflies travel to a place they have never seen before. They go to a long journey to almost everywhere!!! So that is how much they’ll travel in once a year. So that would take like two or three years for us to travel. So don’t think about going that far kids. I hope your children will not travel that far. 13

So keep your eyes on them. So don’t let them become a butterfly. So watch them don’t EVER get your eyes off them.
