olden lights, friendly ambience and cozy chairs with some light music at Twenty Fifth House in Clarion Hotel, Chennai gives the positive vibes that it would be good dining time for everyone. The moment we enter in, our eyes would catch the glimpse of all the food items been neatly arranged on one side of the restaurant. And as you sit down, you hear the clinking glasses and plates that spells the hunger in you. The dishes look colourful and is a buffet type which caters to the needs of corporates, family dining and also for the foreigners. When Food&Health caught up with the Chef Mahesh, he explained to us about the recent Kashmir to Kanyakumarifest that is running in the hotel. He says, for every 3 months, we would draw up new themes and that is how we are celebrating this festival which is
called as K to K.From the name, it is clear that we had decided to go all Indian for the first time and the response has been good so far. Overall, there are 50 dishes spread here, for both lunch and dinner separately. We take one theme each on a daily basis, if they have Kashmiri gravy for lunch, then for the dinner would have Karnataka gravy and the next day another special dish and so on. All the dishes from different states, both in the vegetarian and non-vegetarian courses are prepared, the style and the way of cooking keeps changing, according to the theme of the day. Every state has different specialty and the restaurant is trying to incorporate them. Also, we get to know a lot as we experiment with the Indian cuisines and get in touch with the cooks all around the world. The restaurant focuses on the small

dishes, while keeping the quality control admirably high. Something new here is the fresh, healthy food that we get in abundant and also, it is the intuitive services from the team. Indian pizza and Indian pasta are their must-have dishes as they are trying to promote the Indian food and also, enlighten the children about the unique preparations of the country’s dishes. South Indian dishes, generally here are spicy, tangy with lots of oil in it while the North Indian dishes are rich in aroma and reminds us of the typical way in which the dishes are usually cooked. On our visit to the restaurant, there were many options to choose from. For the vegetarians, there were dishes, predominantly made of potatoes, salads and takes you back to our grandma’s kitchen. Then,
there is the typical South Indian Rasam, ellupodi rice and lots of healthy food like sprouts, carrots, cucumberand tomatoes. Dal tadka, Sabzichaman, Dondakayavepudu, Bhindikhattameeetha etc. were some of the special dishes for the day. When we go to the non-vegetarian counter, wecan’t help but be surprised by the items available as it contains everything from fishes to eggs to chicken etc. Generally, they are spicy and the fish items standout. They have mouth-watering and yummy mutton biriyanis with lots of curries options. Murgh kali mirch is an authentic Indian chicken curry that was tasty and tangy. Some items were a bit spicy and would have been cooked better to satisfy our taste buds.
The fest lasted the entire month of September. They have a tag,‘come as 5 and pay only for 3’, and it is Rs. 999 Net for each person. The event is mainly targeted to the corporates, families and friends. Lunch and dinner is served here and people can check it on their Facebook page, Clarion Chennai to know about what is served on the day they are planning to make a visit. They were also having cold glasses of mango and grape juices which go well with all the food that is placed here. With the mercury soaring high, it makes us feel better to sip in these glasses which are pulpy and tasty and makes you want to go for one more. Not to forget, the desserts were pure indulgence. They had eggless cakes, popular South Indian sweets, Thai custard and some yum-yum chocolate cakes were soft and something that would be saved in your best moments.
