Change happens all the time and unexpectedly. Since the first issue of SauceINK, we’ve experienced all sorts of changes and gone through numerous reconstruction. Finally, when things started to become stable again, the management changed, again. Same ol’ but new. This issue is basically dedicated to the rebirth of the magazine - lesser pages, higher frequency. Onboard, we have three new resident bloggers! Check out our website for their blog entries! Also, we’re kicking off a Travel segment. Okay, enough of the “announcements” and get back to business. I have nothing to share this issue (apart from the “announcements” that is) so I’m just going to throw some photos I’ve been taking lately. Two of which you would find quite interesting - the sweet and not-so sides of me.

LOOKS
THIS
Spring
2011
By Esther Xie (Fashion Blogger)
Every change of season, fashion journalist, bloggers alike would flood content and voice their opinion on what the key looks are for the new season. Well, jumping on thebandwagon, here are my picks! Let me start from the top, and I mean, the hair.
Braiding your hair to one side creates a spring feel, to me at least. But you need to take note not to tie it too tightly as it might tend to look too rigid. The ideal is to add a spring feel to your look and not look like you are ready to run around the fields. Playing with bold colours. To kick start the season, I’ve diligently added numerous bold and bright colours to my wardrobe. And, in some way, somehow, these add-ons made me feel more cheerful and... sort of jumpy! I’m tired of the black, grey, brown, and the neutral shades from fall. This spring, I’m embracing colours!
20
Colour blocking is one of the most significant trends this season. Everyone from Jil Sander to Missoni to Diane Von Furstenberg, even the recent Metro Paragon fashion show were awash with colour, sending models down the runways in dazzling bright hues.
Photo from Web Link
Photo from Web Link
But aside from wearing them on your body, the play of colours is also implemented in the things you carry and walk in.
However, as popular and addictive this trend can be, it can be quite dangerous. Wearing too many colours clashing against one another can bring a disastrous outcome - circus act. Nevertheless, the supposed trendsetters are encouraging fashionistas to just go ahead and clash the brightest colours together - e.g. purple and orange, bright pink and red, etc. To be on the safer side, you might want to just go with pink and green, light blue and bright peach.

www.SauceINK.com
Maxis are back again this spring! Here, I’ve combined the two trends together; bold bright colour and the maxi dress. But if you really want to talk about the maxis this season, we’re talking more about a fusion of maxi dresses and the sheer fashion trend. Designers like Max Azria, D&G, Abbey Lee Kershaw, etc took an innovative approach to bring back this old favourite with a new edge. Personally, I loved the maxi dress last season but I’m a little bored of it. Despite all, I probably wouldn’t be going too gaga over it.

When you think of spring, floral prints naturally comes to mind. But for this spring, think big if not bigger, wilder floral prints.
Designers Erdem, Jaeger, Kenzo, Vivienne Westwood, Mui Mui, Dries Van Noten, and Antonia Marras alike are all churning out bold flower-power prints onto the runways. But floral alone is not enough, to truly create a statement, clash big blooms with other florals, and in different textures. Like I said, “think big if not bigger.” Now, last but not least, ending by going back in time, we have the ‘70s big, wide legged trousers aka pyjamas pants.
Photo from Web Link
I’m not too fond of this particular trend but it’s going on every trend report we see. Word of advise, this style would look good on tall ladies but probably for the shorter ones perhaps it would be best to stay clear, less flattering. Photo from Web Link

Curvaceously Fashionable By RynaQUE (Resident Blogger)
This article is a tribute to all the curvy ladies who has ever been ostracised just because their bodies were considered “different” from others. Photo from Web Link Someone curvy I really admire is Oprah Winfrey, who happens to be a very successful lady. She had a child when she was just 14, unfortunately, her baby died at a young age. Due to the death, she was determined to turn her life around. Who is she now? She’s a reporter, actress, writer, producer, activist and TV talk show host and... wait, what? She’s just am, at leasazing. Oprah’s outfits are timeless and classic. She doesn’t reveal much skin yet manages to look stunning, stealing the attention from the crowd.

Queen Latifah’s another fashion icon whom I really admire. From music to movies, she’s done it all. They say a talented woman makes a beautiful woman, and I agree. She’s confident and she glows every time she’s on the red carpet. The outfits she wears are very sophisticated and simple but like Oprah, she never fails to grab attention, even from the paparazzi.

I’m a really simple girl. Although I’m nothing compared to my two fashion icons, I hope one day I’ll just be as successful and beautiful as they are. Oh come on, don’t roll your eyes. I’m sure you have your icons whom you look up to. So, to all curvy women out there, we might not have stick thin bodies like everyone else, but that doesn’t mean we cannot be beautiful and successful. Instead of feeling down or being out of place, we should just embrace our curves and dress up just to look and feel good about yourselves. There’s nothing’ wrong with loving’ who you are She said, ‘cause He made you perfect, babe So hold your head up, girl and you you’ll go far Listen to me when I say I’m beautiful in my way ‘Cause God makes no mistakes I’m on the right track, baby I was born this way - Lady Gaga The most important accessory every women should have is confidence.

BANGKOK
Talk about shopping, and Bangkok comes to mind instantly. There’s something about this country that’s so alluring and yet dangerous at the same time. The recent unrest in Bangkok has made it difficult to travel, although this problem has been alleviated, for now. In any case, it is always wise to purchase travel insurance so you get compensation should your flight be cancelled, delayed, et cetera. The temptation of cheap accommodation, good food, and affordable clothes makes it hard to resist. The mix of high-end luxury shopping malls, and bustling street markets are sure to cater to your every whim.

Chatuchak
Weekend Market
Platinum
Fashion Mall
With a square area of more than 10 times that of Vivo City, with almost 15,000 stalls, the phrase ‘shop till you drop’ may just become too literal for comfort. You’ll find an abundance of clothes, antiques, souvenirs, and mini ‘pet shops’ selling all types of exotic animals. Grab a bite and soothe your throat (that you’d need especially after all that haggling!) at the many food stalls along the way. Market is divided into 27 sections, so grab a map once you enter the market, and head towards your desired section(s).
Photo from Web Link
Challenge yourself to complete Platinum Mall in a day. You’d realize that its massive number of shops would make it a pretty arduous task – that’s 5 floors worth of walking! Think of Platinum Mall as Singapore’s City Plaza – many cheap steals (which are even cheaper when bought in bulk of 3 or more). Definitely worth a trip, especially if you’re out to procure clothes and accessories. There is a food court on Photo from Web Link the top floor, with both local and international delights, as well as numerous small food stalls and coffee shops (read: places to rest your weary feet) around corners, selling pretty cheap (and yummy!) coffee and cakes. Photo from Web Link
Address: Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road Chatuchak, Bangkok Opening Hours: Weekends, 8am to 6pm Getting There: • MRT – Kamphaeng Phet Station • MRT – Chatuchak Park Station MRT, followed by a 5 minute walk • BTS – Mochit Skytrain Station, followed by a 5 minute walk Personal Note: Photo from Web Link Go as early as possible, so as to avoid the sweltering heat. A word of advice, it won’t be pretty sweating it out with a thousand other people! Pretty sweet prices, if you’re willing to bargain. Try not to split up from your friends as the place is huge, and after a while (especially after all that shopping!) finding a friend amongst the throng of people will prove to be quite impossible
If you need some place to change some currency, there are plenty of banks around and inside the mall. Try to limit yourself though, or else you’d find yourself spending much more than you intended to. A newly opened section, Zone 3, is more organized than the first 2, but slightly more expensive as well. Address: Petchaburi Road, Prathunam District (opposite Amari Watergate) Opening Hours: 10am to 10pm daily Getting There: Getting to Platinum, which is situation in the hub of Pratunam, one of the busiest parts of Bangkok, will prove to be quite a chore. By Taxi: Expect the jams that are very much a norm in central Bangkok. By Public Transport: BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit Line – exit at Chidlom or Siam, followed by a 15 minute walk Personal Note: Prices are fixed so bargaining will only earn you the seller’s wrath. They will usually just tell you that items are already being sold at wholesale prices. Try combining your purchases with friends (or try your luck with a stranger!) to get further discounts. Most items are tagged free size, and most stores will not allow you to try on their clothes, so getting something is quite the gamble.

PATPONG
Siam ParAgon
Your trip to Bangkok wouldn’t be complete without a visit to a night market. One of Bangkok’s best would be the Patpong Night Market, in Silom. It can get pretty chaotic with the number of stalls and bars at every corner. Vendors can occasionally be pushy and beware of the ones selling stun guns!
Not to be missed, of course, is one of Bangkok’s pride and joy, Siam Paragon. Expect hundreds of stores, mostly mid-level to high-end products, including Gucci, Chanel, D&G, Burberry, Zara, Marc Jacobs, and Prada, amongst many other familiar brands as well as local stores like Greyhound. The Kinokuniya Bookstore would make a bookworm’s heart skip a couple of beats. Enjoy nachos and coke over a movie at the multiplex, which boasts one of the biggest screen and seat capacity. Not to be missed also is Siam’s Ocean World, the largest indoor aquarium in SEA. You’ll be spoiled for choice with the many food stalls at the Gourmet Market, offering both Thai specialties and almost ever other cuisine you may be craving for.
Night Market
You can find the usual items like T-shirts, (fake) handbags, jewellery and fake DVDs. And the stun guns, of course (which you, needless to say, cannot bring back into Singapore). Address: Between Silom and Surawong Road Opening Hours: 6pm to 1am daily Getting There: BTS Siam Station, exit at Sala Daeng Station, followed by a 5 minute walk Personal Note: Bargaining here is a must, and keep your valuables close! Walk around before committing yourself to a purchase, as chances are you’d find the same item a few stalls down.
Photo from Web Link
Photo from Web Link
Address: Rama I Road, Pathumwan Nestled in between Siam Centre and Siam Discovery Centre, and opposite Siam Square. Opening Hours: 10am to 10pm daily Getting There: BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit Line and Silom Line, exit at Siam Station. Siam Station has a skybridge linked to Siam Paragon Personal Note: On a personal note, Siam Paragon is one of my favourite and must-go haunts when in Bangkok. Reminiscent of Paragon and Ion, even if you leave empty-handed, it feels like a much-needed breath of fresh air from the usual night markets and overly-crowded Platinum Mall and MBK.
46
Photo from Web Link
If you like Siam Paragon, worth checking out are also Siam Centre, Siam Discovery Centre, the Emporium and Gaysorn.
Hong Kong
Hong Kong is undoubtedly one of Asia’s most famous shopping Mecca’s; little wonder since it’s filled with streets of small stalls, and large shopping complexes alike. Its diverse range of products and shopping hotspots guarantees a little something for everyone. Besides shopping, Hong Kong is also famous for their food. If you’re the adventurous type, try some roadside cuisine or nip into a tiny restaurant at a nondescript street. Chances are, wherever you are, you won’t be very disappointed. Just a couple of tips before you embark on your trip! • At smaller shops (never at shopping malls!), always bargain! Start with a low price and slowly work your way up, to the maximum amount you’re willing to pay. Remember to not look too eager with purchasing, and walk away (slowly, of course), if seller refuses to give in. • Try to pay in HK dollars. Otherwise, shops may charge you ridiculous exchange rates. • Know your desired product and compare prices. Applicable for more expensive items like branded goods and/or electronics • Check product in shop right after purchase • Make your trip coincide with the sales period in Hong Kong – July to August yearly

Causeway bay Think of Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay as Singapore’s Orchard Road. A thousand sighs to see and even more things to buy. Times Square, one of Hong Kong’s mega-malls, can be found on Causeway Bay; Boasting 16 floors and housing over 230 shops (including Agnes B., Burberry, Gucci, and Kate Spade), and a culinary feast with an excellent food court and award-winning restaurants like Wasabisabi.
Photo from Web Link
Opening Hours: 10am to 8pm daily Some restaurants close later Getting There: MTR – Causeway Bay Station Personal Note: If you like Times Square, you may also enjoy Pacific Place (MTR – Admiralty Station), the Landmark (MTR – Central Station) and Windsor House, also located at Causeway Bay.

Harbour CITY Located in Tsim Sha Tsui, it comprises of 4 parts – Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel, Ocean Terminal, Ocean Centre, and the Gateway. A shopping haven housing flagship stores, local brands, and culinary delights, totaling around 700 shops, 50 restaurants, and 2 cinemas. Ocean Terminal Boasts a children’s area with Toys R Us and renowned brands like Burberry Kids and DKNY Kids, sport wear labels, as well as cosmetics and beauty brands. Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel Houses high-end luxury brands and home furnishings
Address: 3-27 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon Opening Hours: 10am to 9pm daily Getting There: MTR – Tsim Sha Tsui Station

Temple Street (Men’s Street)
Located between Jordan and Yau Ma Tei in Kowloon, Temple Street is renowned for its open-air night market with cheap wares and yummy food. Although catered more to the men, Temple Street is worth a visit if only for their bargain marchandise like jewellery and electronics. Occasionally, if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to catch Chinese Opera performances. Spend some time with a fortune teller, pretty commonplace in these streets. Bask in the atmosphere by trying out some local cuisine at a roadside stall. It’s the best way to immerse yourself in Hong Kong culture and to communicate with the locals.
Photo from Web Link
Address: In between Jordan Road and Shanghai Street Opening Hours: 10pm to midnight daily Getting There: MTR – Jordan Station (Exit A). Turn right into Jordan Road and walk 3 blocks to Temple Street MTR – Yau Ma Tei Station (Exit C). Walk along Man Ming Lane to Temple Street Personal Note: Bargain, bargain, bargain!
Photo from Web Link
Ladies Market Located in the heart of Mongkok District, it is a must-visit, and the women’s equivalent to Temple Street. Akin to Singapore’s Bugis Street, except a few times bigger. Expect an abundance of bargain women’s clothing, accessories, cosmetics, bags and the like. Opening Hours: 12 noon to 11:30pm daily Getting There: MTR – Mong Kok Station (Exit E). Walk along Nelson Street for 2 blocks
Photo from Web Link
Personal Note: Leave your boyfriend / husband at Mongkok Computer Shopping Centre just around the corner, while you spend your day canvassing for the best deals! Its sheer number of shops will probably give your male counterpart a mini heart-attack. Retreat if salespeople become pushy / rude. Chances are you probably won’t leave the shop with your desired items at your desired price anyway.

GOLD Coast
Brisbane, Gold Coast – one of my favourite travel destinations in the world. Although things are generally more expensive in Australia than in Singapore, it’s an amazing place for a trip, with its amazing beaches, friendly people (and service staff!), tourist attractions and shopping destinations. I personally love the night bazaars where you’ll be able to find tons of locally made souvenirs and fresh foods. Shopping centres are plentiful as well and local brands like Valleygirl and Supre are scattered around Surfers Paradise and Main Beach. Tips: Many shopping centres offer discounts for tourists so make sure to grab your coupons at the information counter upon arrival. Travelling is pretty simple. Rent a car, take the bus, or purchase travel coupons from Con-X-Ion (pronounced as ‘connection’). Shops close fairly early, at about 5pm thereabouts, except on Thursdays when most stores stay open till late.

Personal Note: Luxury goods are, unfortunately, similarly priced compared to Singapore They have a farmers market open every first and third Saturday of the month, 7am to 12pm. And also a wide variety of the freshest fruit and vegetables, cheese, and various other homemade goodies like cookies and cakes. An amazing experience if you have the time!
51 www.SauceINK.com
Harbour Town Shopping Centre Famed for its discounted goods, Harbour Town, although pretty out of the way if you’re staying at Surfers Paradise, is definitely worth the trip. Housing over 100 international as well as local outlets, including a cinema and more than 20 restaurants and cafes, it is likely you’d spend a day (maybe even 2!) there. They have great bargains on brands like Lee, Calvin Klein, Lacoste, French Connection, Cotton On and the like. Excited yet? Dining options are endless, with many cafes and restaurants serving a variety of cuisines at good value (since portions are usually pretty big!). Opening Hours: 9am to 5:30pm daily, except on Thursdays and Sundays Thursdays from 9am to 7pm Sundays from 9am to 5pm Personal Note: Personal favourites include Valleygirl (think: Supre but cheaper!), Woolworths, Factorie and Typo

Buskers are also a common sight here at Carrara Markets, and this only adds to the friendly, happy atmosphere of the entire place. Paris
Paris – the city of romance, and shopping! The birthplace of fashion, it’s impossible to head out without donning your best. Paris has a couple of shopping ‘districts’, and I will be introducing you to just two of them, as well as places where you can procure yourself awesome deals and some unique finds. Tips: • Some boutiques require customers to buzz to get it. Don’t be shy to do so! You’ll never know what gems you might find • Don’t finger through perfectly folded piles of clothes or try on shades or spectacles without first asking • Returning items only possible with a receipt • Gift wrapping is usually done free-of-charge, at most boutiques

Champs-Elysees
(pronounced shahn-zay-lee-zay)
Le Marais
(pronounced lu-mar-ay)
Some people travel all the way to Paris just to visit this one street. If you love your brands, then the Avenue des Champs-Elysees is your other half. It is known, quite aptly, as ‘the most beautiful avenue of the world’. Go nuts with the largest Adidas store in the world, visit Sephora’s flagship store, and H&M. It is also home to the most famous luxury brands in the world like Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Hermes, as well as a massive Louis Vuitton. Stop and enjoy the sights (and your purchases) over lunch at a small café or restaurant that are peppered around the street. You will also be able to find one of Paris’ finest shopping centres in this area – Le Printemps. Le Printemps consists of 3 separate stores – Le Printemps de la Mode (catering to women), Le Printemps de l’Homme (catering to men), and Le Printemps de la Beaute et Maison (for beauty and houseware). A total of 6 floors, and 3 sections, you’re guaranteed a full day’s worth of shopping (and spending!).
Photo from Web Link
Le Marais captures the essence of Paris perfectly, with a wonderful blend of the old and the new. It is filled with beautiful buildings with a hint of yesteryear, housing high-end luxury boutiques, with quaint cafes and restaurants lining the streets. A leisurely walk is sure to engage and excite, with many stores catering to the big-spenders, as well as the thrift-seekers. A couple of interesting stores are listed below: Alternatives Tuesday to Fridays, 1-7pm
L’Habilleur Mondays to Saturdays 12noon to 7:30pm
A wonderful thrift shop catering more to the men. Mostly high-end luxury items in great condition and at a fraction of the cost! Expect to see brands like CDG, Miu Miu, and even Prada!
Renowned for its discount designer wear, of up to 70% off retail price! Of course, at this price, you can only expect to see previous seasons’ items. Brands include Paul & Joe, Belle Rose and the like. Again, like Alternative, it caters more to the men.

Mistigriff 83-85 rue St-Charles; 75015 Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7:30pm Offers designer labels at up to 85% off retail. For a bit of ‘fun’, some labels have been removed, so consider your buys carefully before committing to a purchase! La Clef des Marques 122-126 blvd Raspail 6e Monday from 12:30 to 7pm Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:30am to 7pm Past season items from Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Diesel et cetera. Rue d’Alésia 14e Opening times vary Consisting of an entire street, with stores lined up on both sides including Kenzo, Yves Saint Laurent and Daniel Hechter. Couple of eateries as well, but if you’re on a budget, there’s Burger King!
And for truly vintage items, Le Dépôt-Vente de Buci 6, rue de Bourbon-le-Château 75006 Paris Vintage items mainly from the 1060s. Expect vintage pieces from Chanel and the like Aspasie & Mathieu 10 rue des Carmes, Paris For antiques like gentlemen’s pocket watches, ladies’ hats and the like Ragtime 23 rue de l’Échaude 6e 75006 Paris Vintage clothing from the 1870s to 1970s
Personal note: A couple of terms you should be familiar with if you’re intending to visit these stores. Stock: merchandise left over from past seasons. Sizes and colours are usually not in abundance so you’ll be lucky if you find something you like! But at about 50% off normal retail price, it’s worth a gamble, no?
As mentioned, Paris does things a little differently from most other countries. Even their flea markets, or marchés aux puces as they are known in French, are literally, akin to treasure hunting. Make a day out of it! Marche d’Aligre Place d’Aligre 75012 Paris Tuesday to Saturday 8am to 1pm, 4pm to 7:30pm Sundays 8am to 1pm Bustling open-air market offering fresh produce as well as flea market stalls. Predominantly Parisian, with tinges of Asian and North African shops so it’s a great mix of cultures and items. Marche aux Puces de la Porte de Vanves 1. Avenue Georges Lafenestre Weekends until 1pm 2. Avenue Marc Sangnier, 75014 Paris All day on weekends Located in the very heart of Paris, it’s an amazing place especially for those looking for something different and unique. It comprises over 300 stalls, with an abundance of furniture, trinkets, art, jewellery, antiques, and music memorabilia at every turn. Les Puces de Saint-Ouen 48 rue Jules Valles, 93400 Saint-Ouen Saturday to Monday, 7:30am to 6pm Touted as the biggest flea market in the world, drawing over 200,000 people every weekend. Even better than the variety of items, is the price. And with the vast number of stalls, you can imagine the amount of time you’d have to spend here, not to mention an amazing array of food available to satisfy any palate.
Promotions: Special markdowns on current lines, with sizes and colours, if applicable Degriffes: Indicates that labels have been cut out. This is usually done so you’re not able to go back to the original retailer (for example, Calvin Klein) to do alternations since you’ve procured the piece at a much cheaper price

There are many girls out there who feel that they don’t want to pile too many layers of products on their faces, like serum, moisturizer, sunblock, makeup base, foundation, concealer, loose powder etc. for several reasons. They might be harmful to their skin, make them age quickly and look cakey and un-natural. But how to get flawless, natural looking skin without the layers and layers of products?!
By Fidelis Toh (Beauty Blogger)
I’m sure everyone is familiar to BB cream (Short for Blemish Balm) these days. It first became popular after Korean Celebrities revealed that BB creams are their secret to dewy, oh-so perfect skin. It was known to be a product that dermatologists would prescribe after their patient went through skin laser procedure. Because it soothes, protects and provides coverage for post-laser scars. It’s an All-in-One product that combines your moisturizer, essence, sun block, concealer and coverage to hide your blemishes and some BB creams have added benefits like Skin brightening, oil control, and helps reduce wrinkle formation. These days, everyday is a lazy morning for me, so I simply dab on BB creams and apply a thin layer of loose powder to set the BB cream and I can instantly have flawless, hydrated, sun-protected skin! It’s no wonder why people would choose BB creams over foundations. After all it’s a makeup product with skincare benefits, so why not? Not only can you hide your blemishes and any imperfection, it also has healing & skin treatment properties, plus it adapts to the color of your skin tone. So there’s no need to worry about the uneven skin tone of your face and neck unlike while picking the color for your foundation, you have to be very careful to pick the right one. 58

Bio Essence Bio Platinum + Multi Effect BB Cream SPF25 PA ++ There are some things that I’d look out for when shopping for a tube of BB cream. Firstly, I’ll look out for the added skincare benefits like:

A drop of BB cream to test the colour. All of the BB Creams above are more yellow/warm toned except for #03 - Lancome UV Expert BB Base SPF 50 PA++ which has a pink undertone, which might not be suitable for Asians unless for ladies who are blessed with fair skin.
• Higher SPF • Hydrating • Whitening • Oil control • Anti-aging • Medium/full coverage I might sound greedy wanting all that in one tube of magical cream, but we all love BB creams because they cut down the amount of products we pile on our skin right? The SPF, oil-control, medium-full coverage is the most important of all, of course whitening and anti-aging properties are a plus! And having these 3 benefits means I cut down 4 steps into 1 step. The four steps being Sunblock, Makeup Base , Concealer & Foundation! Hurray to BB creams creating the perfect flawless skin for me in a matter of seconds!

The New D
The dating scene used to be so much simpler. It used to be more face to face interaction, and it takes time before you get to know a person for who he really is. The previous form of written communication is not instant and it is not via a keyboard but handwritten love letters from one party to another. I’m not sure if I should share this, but mummy and daddy were pen-pals first before they started dating. Everything used to be… simple. The dating scene used to be so much simpler. With social networking platforms being a big part of our everyday lives today, what you say or do can make or break a relationship. A photo, a status message, or even just a comment on your Facebook wall can cause tension between you and your potential partner.
and
Dating Scene
As usual, there’s always a flip-side to the coin. As much hazard as it can cause, with these platforms, meeting new people is much easier than before. Striking up a conversation with someone new can be done through Facebook, Twitter and Instant Messagers (WhatsApp, BBM, MSN etc.), which makes things a lot less frightening especially for the timid ones. To make a new friend is just a click on the “Add as a friend” button and you’re connected with someone new on Facebook, provided he accepts it. With a couple more clicks, you get to see someone’s profile and get to know the person better. Even if you’re not looking for someone new but someone you have met but don’t really know, you can look him up in Facebook and more or less find out all the information you need about him. If he’s profile is public or he accepts your friend request, you get to read what he writes on his wall, what he talks to his friends about, and even photos of the people he hangs out with. Here’s a tip, if he has a lot of family photos posted up, you can more or less assume he’s the family kinda guy. Very likable indeed!

SURVIVING A BREAK -UP We’re all born different, yet most of us go through life looking for love. It’s human nature for us to look for a partner in life who would be there as we grow old and listen to our lame jokes and stories. As they say in the movies, the reason why we fall in-love and decide to be with someone is so that there would be that person who would be a witness as we live our lives.

Making It Work If you think getting into a relationship is hard? That’s not exactly the case, especially if you compare it to staying-IN it. The one thing that is probably the most important of all would be trust. And it’s true in all kinds of relationships and not just the romantic kind. There should be trust-in all aspects. You should learn to trust that your partner would be: 1. Faithful to you. Otherwise you will end up obsessing on knowing who he talks to, what he’s doing, where he is and you’ll probably end up not accomplishing anything at all. I’m sure a lot of girls would be able to relate to this one, especially after the honey moon stage of the relationship has gone past. It will fly fast because we all know time flies when you’re enjoying yourself.
62
2. Supportive of you. It goes both emotional and financial. Everybody has needs, and one of the biggest roles our partner would play is to support us in our goals and objectives. We should be there for each other through thick and thin. As for the financial support, gone are the days that the man will always be the bread winner.
We can also help, but of course it would still be a natural thing for the men, to be able to support us when we finally decide to tie the knot. You got to learn to trust your partner that he knows what he’s doing, and so long as he has the intention to provide, he will be able to. 3. Loving and caring. It seems impossible that this would be an issue, but it happens. Sometimes, for some reason that escapes sanity, we tend to doubt whether our partner loves and cares for us. The usual reason is when they tend to work longer hours, sometimes don’t have time to go shopping with us, or what not. Just because he’s not able to accompany us in all the little errands, doesn’t mean they love us less. So if you want to make the relationship work, stop being too demanding, and learn to choose your battles. If it’s not too important for you, give your partner a rest. Being able to trust your partner would help you a lot in sustaining the relationship. It would also give you peace of mind. Just remember, that there is no sure thing in this world. You don’t own your partner, and he doesn’t own you. You are together by choice, and that also means that if you are to stay together, it will be by choice as well.
When it’s Time to Let Go
Another Chance in Love
Let’s face it. Not all relationships work. Some are wrong on the onset. Still, it’s difficult to know that when you’re in the relationship. Why do you think love songs are all around us? That’s because people loved and lost.
Some girls tend to jump into another relationship after a tragic one because that’s their only way to cope. Replace a vacuum, with another one. There’s nothing wrong with entering into another relationship, so long as you have the right reasons to do it.
When it’s time to let go, just let go. Nobody said it would be easy, but you can always make it easier for yourself. 1. Get a hold of yourself. As I’ve said, this is not something exclusive to you. Happens to almost everybody. So don’t wallow in self pity and act as if it’s the end of the world. Stop asking yourself why this happened to you. It happened and that’s the end of the story. You have to accept the fact that you fell in-love, had fun, tried to make things work, and now it has come to an end. 2. Cry if you need. The first one tells you not to go overboard. This advice is more for the people who are in denial. Girl, you probably did love him. And it’s okay. This is not a game, where people keep tab on who’s wining. If you feel the need for it, talk to your friends, cry if you want to. Sometimes, that’s all we need to release all the bottled up emotions. And you will be surprised how much of the load crying can solve. Some people think that crying is only for the weak, but I totally disagree. Crying for important things and important people is a normal thing to do. Better than going to therapy-cheaper too! 3. Focus on more important things. If your relationship ends, it doesn’t mean the world will stop to accommodate you. Your job still needs you, and there are still a lot of other people who depend on you. Your failed relationship will be a thing of the past, but you wouldn’t want to create more difficulties for yourself, by neglecting everything and everybody else in your life. 4. Remember that your Ex is not Mr. Perfect. Sometimes, when we catch ourselves thinking of our ex again, we begin to doubt our decision. It will happen one way or the other. And when it does, remember all the reasons why the relationship ended in the first place. Thinking of your ex’s flaws helps a lot. We tend to over glorify them when it ends, but they’re all happening inside your head. Some of it may not even be true. If he was neglectful, dishonest, uncaring and rude, remember him that way. Because that is what he is, and THAT is WHY the relationship was bound to end.
The reason to emphasize on the reasons is because most girls tend to believe that having somebody around to replace their ex boyfriend would make them feel as if they didn’t lose the last one. There’s something very wrong in this picture. First of all, it’s not fair for the new guy. This is another PERSON we’re talking about here, and not just an inanimate object. Your new guy has feelings, and can also get hurt, especially if he finds out that you’re just using him to get over your ex or worse-to get even. Rule of thumb is, if you don’t want to be the rebound, then don’t do it to someone else. It is much better for your mental health to deal with your ‘ex’ issues first before you create another problem. Now if you have the right reason to begin a relationship, then that’s a different story. They say you need at least three months, before you start dating again. I say that’s a good number, but in love…nothing is definite. So if you find a guy that you can fall in-love with, and who would love you back with the same intensity (or hopefully more) then go for it. Try again, and don’t ever compare him to your ex. Always remember that we are all individuals, and therefore each has its own special qualities. You have to use your head, and listen to what your heart is telling you. Love guides and gurus can only do so much. At the end of the day, you say what and who will make you happy. And that is how you keep your balance after a break-up. Or at the very least, your sanity.
Love, Celia Lomio
