Learning Nursing in Savonia University of Applied Sciences Savonia University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest and most multidisciplinary UASs in Finland, and it provides higher level professional education. Savonia’s learning approach OIS (Open Innovation Space) combines learning and teaching with research and development, and diverse collaboration with the work-life. This education week program offers perspectives how this approach is implemented in Savonia’s Social and Health Care education. The program can be developed to meet customers’ needs. Day 1. Welcome to Finland – taste of Finnish culture Nursing Education in Finland Clinical Practice for Nursing Skills in simulation center. Themes i.v medication and cannulation and Pediatric nursing; handling new born babies
Day 2. Wound management - assessing wounds with different etiology Clinical Nursing; Kuopio University Hospital Visit to microsurgery learning and research center Visit to trauma center
Day 3. Simulation pedagogy Full Scale simulation; resuscitation and Hand hygiene Digitalisation and Robotics in Nursing
Day 4. Advanced understanding of mental health nursing and violence management in nursing Mental Health and Substance Abuse Nursing AVEKKI - violence preventing training model Horse Ride Therapy for Mental Health Disorders
Day 5. Orientation into Finnish Social and Health Care Preventive nursing: Study visits in Viretori Third sector as partner in nursing care: visit to Cancer Center
